"i'll be here."
rating: explicit- for drinking and joel's dirty thoughts. This is pure fluff NO SMUT and it's probably kinda corny but I DON'T CARE.
summary: Joel wants to make sure your New Years Eve isn't lonely.
tags: jackson!joel, Joel's POV, no use of y/n, no physical description (just an outfit) fluff, so much fluff, pining, age gap, him being handsome and perfect, mentions of food, drinking, being intoxicated so maybe dub-con (but not really)
w/c: ~3.6k
a/n: the holiday was hard as hell this year and it really didn't feel like christmas at all, so i wrote this for myself because i was sad. i hope any of you all that needed Joel to come and sing you songs and play gui-tar find some comfort in this.
thanks for @creepycorbeaux for reading this over. thanks to @thelastofgala for those beautiful gifs and thanks to @saradika-graphics for the dividers.
Joel wasnât exactly sure what he was doing walking to your house with a bottle of whiskey in one hand, and his guitar in the other, but he couldnât stop thinking about what you had said last night on patrol.Â
âWhaddya end up doinâ fâChristmas?âÂ
The face you make when you look over at him almost makes Joel smirk for a split second. The way your nose scrunches and the corners of your mouth turn down slightly. Like youâre confused and upset with him ,and all he did was ask you a simple question.
Then you respond, âWhachya mean?âÂ
Joel doesnât know how to answer that because⌠what do you mean? Your eyes are still squintedâ like there is some sort of distrust in your soul. Like Joel is playing a joke on you right now.
âUh, well⌠Ellie and I went to Tommy and Mariaâs...â Joel is uncomfortable suddenly; he forgets that not everyone is as lucky as he is to have family here in Jackson. He doesnât know you nearly well enough, so now he feels like an ass. He shouldnât be asking you anything like that.
Or anything at all not pertaining to patrol.Â
You donât say anything for a while, you just hold onto the strap of your rifle over your shoulder, and then adjust your grasp on the reins with your other hand. âI just stayed home,â you answer him quietly, almost like you donât really want him to hear you. âMade myself a nice dinner, read a book and went to bed.âÂ
That âput your foot in your mouthâ feeling creeps into Joelâs stomach and he wants to ask if youâd like to give him a nice rocket to his left jaw. He doesnât stay quiet for too long, he doesnât want you sitting in this awkward smog heâs created. âThat doesnât sound tâbad, honestly. Whaddya make?âÂ
Joel watches you out of the corner of his eye as you once again adjust the reins in your hand, waiting for you to either respond to his question or tell him to shut the fuck up.Â
He wishes you would tell him to screw off because he never tries to make small talk, and this is why! He always regrets it!
âJust a venison roast with veggies from the greenhouse.â You finally tell him with a little more life in your voice this time, like you were actually proud of what you cooked yourself. âWhat did you and Ellie do at Tommy and Mariaâs?âÂ
âHad a few drinks, ate some food. Nothinâ crazy.â
Joel didnât have the heart to tell you that Tommy and him spent most of the day drinking and reminiscing, laughing about being young, stupid kids. Or that Ellie and Maria baked all day, listening to Christmas music someone had found a while ago. He didnât wanna subject you to all that, knowing now you were home alone.
Since that night on patrol, Joel canât get the image of you sitting at home on a holiday all by yourself.Â
Probably being sad.Â
There isnât any particular reason why he feels so compelled to come knock on your door, there are plenty of other lonely souls that spend every holiday with no one else around.Â
There was just a pull. Something inside of him that said go go go.Â
Go to her.
He doesnât really even know what heâs going to say to you if you decide to open the door for him. Hell, heâs not sure youâre even going to let him in! Youâve only ever gone on two patrols together. Yâall never really talk outside of that, but thatâs mostly because he doesnât see you around.
Not like heâs looking for you, or anything.Â
When he knocks, itâs like his heart might hammer right out of his chest. Why is he so nervous? Heâs just here to offer you a couple drinks so you donât have to ring in the new year all alone.Â
Ellie was with Dina and the rest of her friends, Tommy and Maria wanted to call it an early night because of the baby, and so Joel had two options: the bar, or sitting at home alone.Â
Itâs not that Joel didnât like being alone. He had been alone since Tess, and that was still something he didnât like to think about too much.
Too much loss for not enough of â whatever they had been. Losing her had almost been the final nail in the coffin, and if it hadnât been for Ellie -
Donât think about it.
Now Joel finds himself on your front porch, holding the screen door open with his large frame, and knocking lightly with the ass end of the bottle of whiskey.
From inside he can hear you moving around. His breath hitches in his throat when you finally open up for him. Joel watches your eyes scan him very quickly, taking in the picture in front of you. Your eyes go wide for a second like you donât understand why heâs here.
Joel Miller on your front porch with a bottle of whiskey and his guitar.Â
âWhaddya doinâ here?âÂ
Joel holds the bottle up for you to inspect closer as you wrap your arms around yourself like youâre trying to hide from him.Â
Joelâs never seen you without your winter jacket, hat and gloves. Right now in your house, you have on a blue sweater, a pair of tight elastic tights that Joel wishes he could see you in more often, and the warmest looking socks he has ever seen.
His eyes scan the length of your body again involuntarily. His gaze lingers on your pants once againâ so tight and they hug your curves (that Joel didnât even know you had) in all the right ways. Â
âWell, I reckon I came over here hopinâ you had cooked another roast, since it sounded so damn good when you told me âbout it on patrolââ
Joel continues his bullshit rambles about why he came over here as you start to smirk, and take a step back so the door can swing open a little wider and he can make his way in.
âThe guitar?â You ask as Joel toes off his boots so he doesnât track snow through your house. He hands you the bottle of whiskey, shifting the guitar between his hands as he takes off his jacket.Â
âFigurâd if you wanted to share any of the food you madeâ I could share the whiskey⌠maybe play a lil gui-tar for ya.â
The last time he played the guitar for anyone besides Ellieâ Sarah was still alive.Â
Who is this man?
There was just something about the way you said âI just stayed homeâ. Joel was thinkinâ maybe you didnât read a book and go to bed.Â
Maybe you cried a little, missing whatever you remember from home.Â
Joel knows all about that, all about the sleepless nights when you just canât turn your brain off. You canât stop thinking about the people that are no more, about how different things are now and how youâd give anything for them to go back to the way they used to be.Â
Joel has Ellie and Tommy. Who do you have?
âYouâre in luck because I did cook tonight,â youâre smiling at him and he thinks this is the first time heâs ever seen you smile, too.Â
So many firsts for Joel, he feels like a teenager as you lead him further into your house - which is clean and smells phenomenally good - and into the kitchen.Â
Joel hadnât expected you to actually offer him food, he didnât know if you cooked dinners like that for yourself all the time, or only on special occasions.Â
You take the guitar from him and pull out a chair at your kitchen table. For a moment he feels like his brain malfunctions and heâs not sure how to react.Â
âYou can sit,â Youâre already in your living room. âIâm just gonnaâŚâ Then you trail off.Â
When Joel peers around the corner to check on you, youâre very carefully leaning the guitar against the wall, holding your hands out to catch it in case it leans too far one way or the other.
Joel feels heat creeping up his chest and neck as he watches you, slightly bent at the waist. The tightness of your pantsâÂ
Nope.
Once youâre satisfied that the guitar wonât fall, you turn around and smile at him, even though heâs just standing there watching you like an idiotâ blushing!
Blushing?
Part of him thinks this was the worst idea he ever had. How could you be doing this to him and youâve done absolutely nothing?Â
He should go home.Â
âSit!â You urge him to take a seat at the table while you basically prance into the kitchen to start serving him a plate. Everything is still sitting on the stove in the pots you cooked in.
You explain that you already ate because you werenât expecting company.Â
Joel almost tells you not to worry about the food, but then what would he do? Play guitar for three hours? Getting drunk and talking all night seems like a terrible idea.Â
What the fuck was he thinking? This was the dumbest thing heâs ever done, it really was.Â
He shuts his mouth though when you set down a plate of steaming food in front of him.Â
âDig in! I have more than enough if you want a second plate.âÂ
The way you talk so casually, like youâve known Joel your whole life while you walk back into the kitchen makes him jealous.Â
How are you so nice? Sweet?Â
You havenât even been here for four months and this is the first time either of you have said more than ten words to each other that didnât have to do with patrol.Â
Itâs the way your body moves when you walk without all your winter gear on. You sway⌠almost like youâre floating.
Knock it off, old man. Sheâs half your age.Â
Joel has to squeeze his eyes shut for two seconds until he hears your feet padding back to the table. When he opens them, youâre pushing one of the glasses in his direction.
âYou brought the booze, so you have to pour it.âÂ
The smile on your face makes Joel feel a mix of pride and guilt.Â
What are you expecting of him? He canât give you more than just tonight. He knows that, he hopes you know that too.
Joel opens the bottle and pours each of you a decent, sippable glass.He should have poured himself less.Â
Probably should have poured you less.
The food tastes better than Joelâs had in years. He even finds himself asking for seconds, something he rarely does.
Youâre making small talk as he eats, asking about his travels and how long heâs been in Jackson. If he likes it here, how old is his daughter.
Joel decides not to tell you that Ellie isnât really his daughter, because biologically she isnât, but it hasnât felt that way in a long time.
As he eats, and you chat, Joel starts to relax a little. Your presence is calming, and he finds himself enjoying your company more than he thought he would. He pours both of you another drink, his regrets of pouring less last time completely forgotten.
The food is gone and youâve cleared his plate. But the two of you are still sitting at the kitchen table. Heâs not sure if itâs the fact that this is another firstâ seeing you up close like this. In the light of your kitchen Joel can really take in your features; your cheeks when you smile, and the way your eyes light up when you laugh at some dumb joke he tells.
You ask him about his life before the outbreak, and Joel hesitates before giving a very brief summary of his past. He doesnât like talking about it all, and he avoids bringing Sarah up completely.
Not tonight. Probably not ever.
You listen attentively and ask Joel questions that show youâre actually interested in what heâs saying.
Joel continues to pour the two of your drinks each time your glasses are empty and you never tell him to stop. You suggest moving to the living room where itâs more comfortable, and Joel agrees without hesitation.
Go home. This is going to end badly.
There is a fire going in your fireplace, and Joel canât sit down until he puts another log or two on, and he has to move some things around to get it going again.
âI can do it myself,â you say from directly behind him, sounding a little offended.
Joel doesn't even look at you when he responds, "I know you can. Just helpin'."
When he finally turns around, you quickly look away. Joel canât help but smirk and feel that familiar in his lower belly.
Had you been staring at him?
Joel watches as you sink down into the brown leather couch, curling up with your feet underneath you. He settles beside you with just enough distance to be polite.
âWhat songs do yaâ know?â Your voice is soft and your words are slightly slurred. The alcohol has definitely started to affect you, but Joel doesnât think youâre that drunk yet.
Joel looks at the clock on your wall and it reads 10:45 PM. He can do this. An hour and fifteen minutes left, then Joel can escape.
Not that he wants to. He has to or something bad is going to happen. Something he regrets.Â
Something you might regret.Â
But when you ask him about songs, he canât help but smile. The alcohol is going down too easily, way too easy for both of you.
Joel clears his throat. "Whaddya wanna hear?"
You shrug, your cute blue sweater sliding off one shoulder. Joel has to fight himself to keep his eyes on your face as you mindlessly tug the sweater up. Itâs like you didnât even realize it happened. You kept your eyes on him the entire time.
"Somethin' that makes you happy."
The fact that youâre moving your feet to tuck your toes underneath Joelâs right thigh is sending electric shocks to his brain. He leans and grabs the guitar off the wallâ careful to not move too much so he can keep the contact between the two of you.Â
Shit. What is he getting himself into?
Joel holds the guitar, fingers tracing the old wooden curves. It's been a while since he's played at all. The strings feel ice cold under his calloused hands.
Joel strum a couple cords, âKnow a few songs,â he says, clearing his throat. âMight be a lil rusty though,â he smirks at you and gives you a sideways glance.Â
You smile from behind your whiskey glass and Joel feels something shift inside him. Something he hasn't felt in a long time.Â
Something dangerous.
Your eyes are glittering in the firelightâ different than they had looked in the artificial light of your kitchen. It casts a warm glow across your face, softening the edges that Joel has only ever seen sharp and alert on patrol.
He clears his throat once again and continues to move his fingers along the frets. The first few notes come out slightly off-key, but Joel quickly finds his rhythm. He starts with a Garth Brooks song.
Joel knows heâs not the best at the guitar and he doesnât play it nearly as often now that Ellie is so busy with her own life.Â
You donât seem to mind, and sometimes Joel misses a chord or messes up completely because he canât stop glancing over to watch you watching him.
He starts to sing, his voice low and gravelly. It's not a perfect voice - never was - but there's something raw and honest in the way the words tumble out.
⌠Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots And ruined your black tie affair The last one to know, the last one to show I was the last one you thought you'd see there
You shift slightly, your toes still tucked under his thigh, and Joel catches you watching his hands. Even as he continues to sing. You never take your eyes off of him. Not once.
⌠'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away And I'll be OK Yeah, I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places
Joel's voice falters for a moment when he notices the concentration of your gaze. His fingers momentarily stagger on the guitar strings, creating a clashing note that lingers in the air for a moment before he continues.
You don't seem to notice, or care. Your eyes are locked on his hands, watching how they move across the guitar with a kind of reverence that makes Joel's breath catch.Â
Joel finishes the song, letting the last chord ring out softly in the quiet room. For a moment, neither of you moves. You're still watching him, your eyes heavy-lidded from the whiskey, but there's something else there too.
Joelâs eyes fall on the clock on your wall and itâs only 11.
Heâs completely fucked.
Joel becomes acutely aware of how close you are.
Your toes are still tucked under his leg, and the warmth of your body seeps through the denim of his jeans. Joel swallows hard, trying to ignore the way his heart is racing.
"Another song?" you ask, your voice soft and slightly husky from the whiskey.
Joel clears his throat. "Sure," he manages, repositioning the guitar.
Joel starts strumming again, this time a slower, more mournful tune. His fingers find the familiar chords of an old country ballad, something he used to play for Sarah when she was real little. Before the weight of being a single dad started to apply pressure.
The memories threaten to overtake him, but he forces them down, focusing instead on the way the light flickers across your face. He can feel the heat of your body against his leg, the whiskey making everything feel soft and blurry around the edges. His voice is lower now, almost a whisper, like he's singing just for you.
Joel sings a couple more songs, a few at your request.
"That was really good," you say softly, your eyes meeting his. There's something in your gaze that makes Joel shiver - itâs a weakness, a longing that mirrors something deep inside himself.
When he looks at the clock again itâs 12:30.
âWe completely missed new years,â Joel points to the clock and chuckles. He had completely forgotten thatâs why he came over here originally. Once the music started, everything else kind of faded away.Â
It was just the two of you while the rest of Jackson, and possibly the rest of the world stopped existing in that short time.Â
âI was havinâ a good time,â youâre still smiling at him and now he can see how glassy they are from the whiskey.Â
âYâlook like yâwere havinâ a good time, darlinâ.â Joel smiles and starts to stand up from the couch. Itâs not until heâs standing directly in front of you realize whatâs happening, Joel watches your eyes shift and change.Â
Are you panicking?
âAre⌠wereââ you cut yourself off and shake your head, waving a hand at Joel dismissively. âNevermind. Thank you for coming over.â When you turn to look at him, your eyes are rimmed with a glossy sheen. The whites of your eyes had turned a hazy shade of red.
âSâwrong?âÂ
You shrug your shoulders, your sweater falling off your shoulder again. You donât notice and twirl your whiskey glass in your hand slowly. âNothinâ. I had a good time⌠just sad you gotta go.âÂ
Joel knows he shouldnât, but he gently replaces your sweater, his fingers lingering on the warm skin of your collarbone for a moment before he pulls away. âIâm all outta songs, sweetheart.âÂ
âYou donât wanna stay?â
Joel swallows hard and then cuts you off, âFor what?â Joel whispers it and you snap your head up to look at him, almost as astonished as he is. Joel knows that the liquor and the way you had been looking at him all night is a recipe for disaster.Â
Make me leave, please. Kick me out. Donât ask me to stay again because I wonât be able to say no.
You finish the last of your whiskey before setting your glass down on the coffee table in front of your couch.Â
âYou know what.âÂ
âI do⌠but weâve been drinkinâ... ân I donât want yaâ regrettiââ
âWhat is there to regret?â you whisper. Your hand snakes into his and Joel doesnât pull his away or nothing. âYou gotta know more songs.â
Joel sits down beside you again, sighing loudly like this is a giant inconvenience to him, but a part of him knows that this isnât going to endâ
Not at all.Â
Once he takes you upstairs, itâs over for the both of you. Itâs like he can taste it in the air.Â
âOne more,â Joel nods his head at you. âThen Iâm leavinâ.âÂ
He and you both know thatâs not true.Â
His fingers find their holds on the neck of the guitar and he looks over at you before he strums the first note.Â
You shy away from him, tucking your toes back under his thigh. Joel lifts his leg slightly so you can slip them deeper under his leg.Â
There's no stronger wind than the one that blows Down a lonesome railroad line No prettier sight than looking back On a town you left behind There is nothin' that's as real As your face that's on my mind
Joel changes the lyrics just a little, and he doesnât know if you notice, or even if you know this song. He's not ready to sing about love, not at all.
He confidently sings you the next part though.
Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while
hopefully y'all had a better time than I did.
love you all so so much

Past and Future (Happy Birthday Lighter)
đFinished this shit at 4:30am, if y'all don't enjoy this I will kill myself. Anyway had fun writing this, it's more of me fucking around and finding out with Lighter's character, but I think it's fluffy and cute so... enjoy lol
TW: Mentions of Death; Suicidal ideation
Info: Lighter x GN!Reader; Angst to Fluff (?) Kinda?; hurt and comfort (i think??)
Word Count: 2k
December 27th. Two days after Christmas, five days before New Year's. Oddly placed on the calendar, awkwardly smooshed between two major holidays in New Eirdu. To most, it was insignificant, just another day. To Lighter it was something he dreaded each year. Between the holiday cheer and the buzz of excitement for the new year, it was nothing more than a looming cloud dampening his mood.
December 27th, Lighter Lorenzâs birthday, one of the worst days of his life.
He didnât hate birthdays, they were nice when they were for other people. He had to admit he enjoyed getting gifts for others and seeing their eyes light up when they opened it, and the light atmosphere when everyone sang a horrendously off-key rendition of the birthday song was hard to hate. They were celebrations of the life of that person, a hurrah to cheer them into another long year until the next came around. He just hated his own.
Gifts and cake and warm fuzzy sweet nothings acted only as reminders that he was alive. He was alive, and everyone else who deserved to be wasnât. Another marker of another year since he lost everything. He wanted to pretend it wasnât there, maybe sleep until the 28th or run away for a while, but the girls wouldnât let him.
Theyâd managed to weasel his birthday out of him about a year into his being here, and they made a point to celebrate it each year. Nothing big, they knew he wasnât one for huge crowds outside of his fights, but still a party where they showered him with gifts and congratulations that he did not deserve. He didnât have it in him to tell them to stop.
So, year after year he grinned and bared it with as much grace as someone as fucked up as he could. It wasnât hard to be grateful for all they did for him, but it was always hard to smile and accept it like he deserved it. The nagging voice in the back of his head reminded him that he shouldnât be allowed to be this happy, not when his stupidity cost the lives of good people â wonderful people, who he loved.
He usually only lasted until Burnice got out the nitro fuel, then he would quietly slip away from his own party to be alone. The quiet was easier on his mind than the distractions of colorful confetti and sweet cake made just to his taste. He liked to sit in the pain, to recede into that cocoon of hurt, as if to apologize to his friends by torturing himself.Â
This year was no different, of course. Just as Burnice handed out the nitro fuel, he quietly slunk into the shadows, smiling to himself as the rest of the Sons of Calydon remained celebrating in his steed. He walked his way to his bike, sighing in the cool night air. The breeze on his skin was the only comfort from the hell in his mind.
He let the air out, hand tucking into his pocket to pull out the little thing of candy he carried around on him. The little lemon drops fall into his palm with ease, and he tosses them back with practiced ease. He rarely felt like smoking anymore, but his birthday was always a struggle. The heightened emotions made him want to take the easy route out, to fall back on his old ways and make stupid mistakes in hopes it would make him feel better. Instead of giving in, though, he sucked on those candies like a saving grace. It was the least he could do for his old friends.
As he stopped in front of his bike, he shoved the candies back into his pocket. Taking a second to himself in the quiet of the night. It was almost over, just a few more hours, and the pain would lessen back down to an ache again. A little longer and he wouldnât have to worry about constant reminders of being alive, and he wouldnât have to save face for everyone elseâs sake.
âLighter?â A quiet, soft, almost worried voice from behind him.
He glanced over his shoulder, eyes softening when he saw it was you. Youâd been quiet about his birthday all month, not bothering him with any reminders. You knew, intrinsically, how much he hated it. You always knew everything about him, it was an infuriating quirk of yours that he would never want to go away.Â
âHey, dollface,â his voice just as quiet as he raised his arm for you to duck under, âgot tired of the party?â
You press yourself into his side, enjoying the warmth of your personal heater, âI saw you leave and I wanted to make sure you werenât doing anything stupid.â
He chuckles, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head, âMe stupid? Never. Just needed some air.â
âIs this getting some air just for you, or could you use some company?â You offer, giving him the reins.
He liked the alone time, he wanted to wallow in self-pity more than anything in the world. His head reminded him that he deserved to be alone on a night like this. Yet, your eyes flutter a little at him, and your lashes brush away those awful thoughts like nothing.Â
âIâve always got room for you,â he hums, giving you one last squeeze before helping you on the bike.
The drive is peaceful, the breeze cooling his hot skin like an apology from the world for all heâd been put through. He doesnât think he deserves it, but he wouldnât deny the feeling either. Your arms wrapped firmly around his middle, head pressed against his shoulder only calmed him further. It grounded him back in the present, reminding him that the past had long passed and that he still had things to live for.
The Sons of Calydon, who took him in and cared for him despite how distant he was at the start. The Proxies, who took special care to stop by earlier and give him a gift, congratulated him for being so strong and thanked him for his constant help when they needed it. The other former members of his mercenary group who, despite how much he wanted to deny it, held no ill will to him and wished him the best for the future.
And, of course, you curled against his back. You trusted him with your life, and he would easily lay his down for you â not that youâd let him if you had any say. You kept reminding him every single day that he was someone worth loving, that he was more than his past, and that he was the one who could define what his future looked like. It was hard not to picture it without you there, not with how attached heâd become to your little displays of love for him.
Displays like this, following him out of his party to make sure he wouldnât do anything to hurt himself more than he was already hurting. He smiles warmly back at you as he eases his bike to a stop at his favorite quiet spot. You smile back pressing a kiss to his shoulder before moving to get off the bike.
You intertwined your fingers with his like it was second nature as you walked to the fence at the cliff's edge. From here you could see the endless desert, and the edge of the hollow, the moon peaking over it in an almost beautiful display. He helps you sit on the fence, placing a protective hand around your waist to keep you from falling forward.
Your hand presses his head into your shoulder, scratching at his scalp with such care it nearly makes his knees buckle. Another reminder of what he has that he couldnât afford to lose. No one has known him the way you know him, no one has ever had the effect you have on him. It was almost enough to make all the horror of his past dissipate in his mind, but a small part of him still clung to it. Unwilling to allow himself to fully forget.
âYou okay?â You ask, interrupting the quiet bubble that had formed around you.
He nods, âThinking.â
âAboutâŚ?â You urge with a raise of a brow, unbearably cute in his mind's eye.
He smiles, genuine for the first time that night, âAbout how much I love you.â
You shake your head at him, but you donât argue with him about how heâs lying, or try and force him to tell you everything. You donât need to. You always trust that heâll tell you when heâs ready. Itâs another thing about you that he couldnât risk losing.
You let the quiet fall over you again, leaning into his chest with a content hum. He allows himself to indulge in your affections for now, preferring having you here in his arms than staring aimlessly at the skyline by himself. It was easier to swallow the ache in his throat with you to soften the harshness of the feeling, regardless of whether you knew you did it or not.Â
He wonders, hopelessly, what his old friends would think of you. They would like you, he was sure of that. You had a personality that would let you fit right in with their eclectic group. The idea of you smiling side by side with them warms his chest, his heart aching as it fades away. A dream heâd never get to see.
Heâs not aware that heâs crying, heâs not sure how long he has been crying, all he knows is that you turn to him and cradle his face in your hands. They wipe at his tears without needing to be asked, another quiet reassurance that you cared for him regardless of what was going on in his head.
Lighter sniffles pathetically as his eyes lock with your worried ones. You seem to know what's wrong without him needing to say it, which he likely wouldnât be able to do if you werenât able to deduce it on your own. You frown at him, bringing him down to kiss his forehead.
âIâm sorry itâs so hard,â You whisper, wrapping your arms around him.
He pulls you in tightly, desperate for the skinship you offered up, âIt never gets easier. Everything is a reminder.â
âI know, thatâs okay,â you press a kiss to the side of his face, âI donât think you need to forget it, Lighter. I think you need to learn how to live with it.â
He closes his eyes, the hollow where theyâre buried fading from sight as if looking at it would blind him now. He holds you even closer, letting your words sink in. Learning to live with it, sounded much easier than it probably was. Maybe you were right though, heâd done so much wallowing and running, maybe it was time he found a way to live with the pain.
âMistake, failure, accident⌠it doesnât matter what you call it,â you continue, pulling him back to look him in the eyes, âItâll always hurt, but that hurt is a reminder of how human you are. You donât want to lose that. Remember it, feel it, and theyâll never really leave you.â
You swallow, taking him in with those pretty eyes of yours. Itâs not perfect, but itâs what he needed to hear tonight. He presses you into a kiss, soft and light and nervous. He was afraid youâd disappear if he was too rough. You melt into it, indulging him like he hoped you would. This was the only way he knew how to show you his appreciation, words would never be enough to display how deeply he cared for you.
When he pulled away you were breathless, face flushed from lack of oxygen, and indescribably beautiful. He smiled subconsciously at you, and you returned the look with all the love and admiration in the world.
âHappy Birthday Lighter,â You say soft as the wind still tussling your hair, âI love you.â
âI love you, too,â He repeats back, and he feels the ache in his chest lessen every second he spends looking at you. You taught him a lot since he met you. A lot about himself, a lot about those around him, a lot about you. Most importantly, tonight you taught him that despite his past, he made a future for himself that he should be more determined to remember to protect.

2024 Book Retrospective
i did this last year for all the books i released in 2023, and i've been looking forward to doing it again for this year because it was Such a wonky ride. i released 3 new novellas, collected 3 old ones in a new illustrated release, put out a new freebie, and dipped my toes into artbooks for the first time. that's not even including the multiple extra things i wrote this year but will release next year. it felt to me like i barely got anything out in 2024, but looking back i really did plenty.
anyway let's get into it! these will probably contain spoilers for the books because i want to talk about them openly. if you haven't read them yet... they're on sale for 40% off until the new year!
The Masson Circle Collection (1-3), released in January
so! we started out the year with this updated version of some of my earlier works. daffodils, carnations, and laurels were among my first forays into publishing novellas, and were the last of my romances before i transitioned more deliberately into erotica. the distinction is practically arbitrary since i do still write about people in love, but it's not the focus so much as the sexual titillation.
but anyway. because these were romances and not Porn (despite having explicit sex in them), and because they came out before i'd really hit my stride as an erotic author/illustrator in 2021/2022, they never got the attention i'd have liked for them! they were the last before i made the switch to properly illustrating my books; they had sketchbook sections at the back instead. i started the roger crenshaw series shortly afterward, which is when my work really took off. so it's like these stories just missed their window.
but i wanted people to read them! these stories and characters are dear to my heart and i felt like they deserved a fair shake, so i spent a month or so at the end of 2023 revising the text to be closer to my standards (though they were pretty good to start with!) and made 30 new illustrations for it. i kept myself Busy getting this ready. it would be a huge release to kick off the new year!
.... and then it didn't do very well anyway. lmao. maybe i priced it too high, maybe i didn't hype it enough, maybe it's because as much as i love all the characters, they're hard to draw and not as exciting as a monster of the day. who knows! but i'm glad i did it, if only for myself. as i've said, these stories were important to me and my growth as an author. if you like historical queer romance with a crime thriller edge, something like kj charles (because she was my biggest inspiration at the time) you should check these out! i promise they're really good despite being on the older side.
The Long Road, released in May
boy that's a big gap between january and may. so what happened there is i actually wrote the night guest first in january-february, and then the long road in march-april. but IMPORTANTLY, i learned my editor @petitemortality was going to become available for work again in april. it'd been probably a year since i'd had his hands on my work and i was Gasping for it. i've compared it to receiving the sponge treatment--just being put through the wringer and coming out So much better for it after a year of bad habits and complacency building up. so basically i put all publishing on hold until he could Fix Me.
and then i ended up rewriting both of those books practically from scratch based on his advice and godddd they really Were so much better for it. it's AGONY in the moment, but the work is worth it. anyway let's talk about the actual work huh.
the genesis of these characters is So funny, because i don't think a single one of them was created for the purpose of this story, rather they all existed as various mobs/nobodies to draw. the goblins and bandits beside vanesse were just designs i used a few times when i wanted to draw characters getting gangbanged. vanesse and angre were created Just for a patreon suggestion of "trans femme bandit queen fucking a trans masc knight". and tourmaline only exists because i wanted to draw a princess getting gangbanged and eveline didn't feel "right" for it anymore. and i ended up with this perfect mishmash of characters that slotted together into a story so naturally that i remember waking up in the middle of the night and banging out the outline in the notes app before falling back asleep and starting to write it the next day.
and it was received pretty well! it had a ton of buildup from me drawing the characters constantly for the duration of the writing and doing a ton of public worldbuilding for dwarves. god i love the worldbuilding for the dwarves. i'm desperate to get deeper into it, i just need to find the story for it. and the goblins. everybody loves the goblins and so do i. and vanesse. ahhhhh.... i'm just so fond of everybody in this book lol. just a big confluence of Toys.
oh yeah and since last year i picked favorite scenes, i think my favorite is angre's internal monologue at the start of his chapter. we get a lot of the worldbuilding there (so of course i like it) but also the Point of the book comes together. i'd struggled a lot with that whole bit in the first draft, but the final draft really just *chefs kiss* it works, for me.
The Night Guest, released in July
as i mentioned before i actually wrote this one much earlier into the year! and immediately had known it wasn't ready, and so backburnered it for months until my editor could essentially fix it. and he fixed the hell out of it. it was a directionless mess in the first draft because i hadn't figured out the characters' voices, what they actually wanted, why they behaved how they did, none of it. it was his idea to structure it more deliberately like an old folktale of a woman outwitting a best, and it snapped into place. of course it was a nearly total rewrite that added like 7000 words (and to this day i'm still not sure how) but it was completely worth it. i feel like i've said that multiple times in this post but it's always true. i cannot stress enough how much i was gasping for a good editing. it's like a cleanse.
this is another story that just sort of Happened out of nowhere. mrs. arakawa was a side character in the dragon double feature 2, and people liked her, and asked about her getting her own monster boyfriend, and so toru was born. partially to get practice drawing that bodytype, partially because i think onis are hot, and then the general shape of a story came to me and i started writing it. without a perfectly clear vision of what it would be. and that's how we got to where we were at the start of this. oops.
i have two favorite parts, the first being this illustration:
when toru is describing the oni woman he was supposed to marry. his entire narrative arc and personal struggle was constructed for the purpose of this joke. i agonized for DAYS, maybe weeks, trying to make his motivation of "i didn't want to get married" work with mrs. arakawa's own feelings about marriage and him having to leave at the end and come back and all of that. it was killing me. but it worked out in the end and i'm so happy it did because i still think the joke that he didn't want to marry a shoujo nadeshiko archetype because he thinks she's ugly is fucking hilarious.
my actual favorite scene is him and mrs. arakawa telling each other stories about themselves. i had a lot of fun trying to ape the rhythms of kabuki performance and rakugo with it.
Spring with the Unicorns, released in June
technically this ought to go before the night guest because it came out first but considering i wrote the first draft of the night guest in january *waves hands* it's all loosey goosey anyway
so this came about because i had the idea to do a book called Season's Breedings (so many of my books happen because i thought of a title and worked backwards from there) and it was literally just going to be the breeding habits of fantasy fuckworld creatures arranged by season. i wrote this one first because it seemed the easiest and then it was less than 4k words, and every other story i had in mind was going to be Much More than that and also didn't come together as easily. so on a very last minute whim i illustrated this and threw it out for free on the last day of pride.
it's me at my loftiest because i was going for a sort of third person omniscient fable type beat, because that's what unicorns deserve. i like it, and it's a good little treat to give out for free. especially because everybody loves the unicorns and loves asking me the same four lore questions and i can just say 'go read the free story' lmao.
it's too short to really have a favorite Scene but barberry is my favorite unicorn. just love everything about that guy. angry little bastard.
Poker Night with the Arizona Dogs, released September
it's not prose but it counts! this is the first artbook i've ever released, though technically not the first i ever made. the unicorn stockades series came before it but will be released sometime next year. it's a bit more spring-seasony. but anyway.
these are a lot of fun to make! i am, at my heart, a comic artist (my day job is graphic novels, buy my graphic novel it comes out in february) so telling a single story in multiple illustrations is kind of my bread and butter. and free use/gangbang stuff is like. perfect for it. everybody has to get a turn! and on top of that it lets me play in a space in a way prose doesn't. prose feels so much more official, more canon (which is how i think of the difference between my drawings and my books--books are canon, drawings are not). but with something like this it's easier to say it was just for fun. because it was! it was a lot of fun.
my favorite illustrations were the jackie-ralph licking ones (because i think i did a good job with the mouths and the folds and all) and the one with johnny with his hand over roger's face and hiding his own. jackie-ralph is probably my favorite of the dogs to draw because he's easiest but johnny is certainly my favorite of the Boys.
Objects of Affection, released in December
boy, this one huh! there is so much to say about this one. this one has like three separate catalysts that blasted together at the end of the summer and it just Happened all at once. there was a person requesting variations on "a mechanic taking advantage of an android they're repairing" for a few months on patreon that i kept meaning to do because it kept winning second place. there was another story i wrote that was too short to publish alone that i was like "okay what if i make a sci-fi anthology and one of the stories is robots..." and then i started rereading chobits for inspiration and it Pissed Me Off So Much how little it wants to engage with its own ideas.
and then the sci-fi anthology idea became only about the robots and i never published the original little short (which will come out next year as a freebie). and then my editor's computer Exploded for two months and he wasn't able to edit it ; ; the wait was Agony because this was one i really, Really did not want to release without proper feedback. something fucking Possessed me with this book and what it says about women and consent and masculinity and all the shit. like those are themes i've already touched in my other works, but in this one it was like turning the knob on a pressure cooker.
it's tough to think of what to say about it that i didn't say in the days after it was released. i've always been frustrated with robot stories that preoccupy themselves with the Theory of rights for artificial life and not the reality of rights for the people we already have. i'd watched astro boy 2003 and pluto shortly before starting (so i guess that's actually 4 things that came together) so Robot Rights!! stories were fresh in my mind and i'd found astro boy particularly frustrating with its insistence on pacifism from the oppressed robots as the government and populace kept abusing them. it is very hard to watch something that says "violence is never the answer! don't fight back, choose peace!" while your own country is aiding and abetting a genocide and obsessing over retribution for a single attack born of decades of settler violence as if they are in any way equivalent.
breathes out
so anyway that's why i chose to write about robots who undeniably do not have sapience, humanity, or rights. because we haven't come even close to solving the issue of rights for ourselves, particularly women (an admittedly easier topic to approach in an erotic work than the horrors of racially motivated war). and between chobits, which suggests a world obsessed with androids but doesn't deeply explore the social ramifications of a female-shaped servant class, and my research into real dolls, the closest thing we already have to fuckable brainless androids, there is a lot of material to draw inspiration from. how a person treats an unperson, particularly one shaped like a woman, will reflect upon how they treat a real person, a real woman.
to be less of a bummer and talk about the Stories, ratna's was the first i wrote, and went through the most revisions between drafts as i tried to figure out her whole deal. she was always going to be a stone butch dyke mechanic, so how would that sort of person feel in her line of work? would she be a stereotype of man-hating lesbian, and sympathetic to the android girls she has to send home with them? or would she be an unrepentant sleeze, just as bad as everyone she works for? i think i ended up somewhere in the middle. she doesn't like men, but doesn't think of herself as better for not being one. she thinks she's better because she isn't better, but at least acknowledges it. and figuring that out was important to figuring out the character. and also going in way harder on the beauty of the mechanism. that was mainly for You Guys, but it was crucial to her character working.
touma and shima's story came to me like a lightning bolt as i was leaving for a vacation. it was going to be, if you can believe it, Even More toxic yaoi. touma ws going to jerk shima off from behind as he fucked mari-ko, it was going to be way more explicit that he was mainly attracted to shima. but ultimately none of that served the actual purpose of the book, about treating people as objects and tools, so i dialed it back. but don't get it twisted touma is still insane and obsessed with shima and wants to touch his cock. but the story as it exists is a more realistic place for him to be at.
and samart and marinette's story was pretty much unchanged from first to final draft. the concept waffled a bit before i started writing, where my first idea had been that he makes her participate in taboo fantasies (calling him big brother, telling him no etc) and the narrative basically asking the question--is this wrong? is it better because she's not real, because he's doing it with her and not a real woman? does her 'no' matter if it's a 'no' she was ordered to say? is it worse because she can't meaningfully consent to the play either way? does any of it matter beyond the effect it has on him?
but as much as i'm interested in unpacking those concepts, i decided they would be too difficult for the audience and potentially open me up to scrutiny and abuse, because you can't even breathe the word "incest" without having your doors beaten down. the book as a whole is difficult, and i want it to be difficult, but i didn't want it to become about That. so instead i went with exploring the sort of loneliness and misanthropy of a person who lives the way he does, and i'm satisfied with it. i think it's the sharpest of the three stories.
wow i had nearly twice as much to say about that one than the rest. lol.
but that's it! that's everything i released! as i hinted throughout there were several other things i wrote this year that will see release next year. i have a free short, a $3 short, a novella awaiting editing, and at least two more artbooks to release. there'll be plenty for me to write about in next year's retrospective.
my writing goal for 2025 is to finish a novel. i did actually reach a finished draft with starbuster, the novel i've been pecking at for the past two years, but having done so and mapped out all the work it needs to be submission-ready, i've put it down semi-permanently. it simply needs too much and it's a bit too niche for traditional publishing, and it's in a genre (contemporary) i don't really want to write more of. so the best use of my time is on something else. it's a shame, but it's for the best! hopefully something will crack me upside the head with inspiration and it'll just Happen like all my best work seems to, lmao.
but if you've read all of this, or just read some of it, thank you!! thank you for supporting me for another year, or the first year if you just got here. if you haven't read everything i put out in 2024, it's on sale until jan 1st! go pick it up for cheap!!

okay this is fully rushed and just the first part because iâm sleepy tired but
i wasnât TOTALLY sure if the au was meant to be like neil still tries and fails or what but that was how i read it and so the following also tw for references to suicide (canon compliant)
anyway there will probs be a part two⌠tomorrow? idk but i hope u like it op (i may have accidentally made it less of a silly goofy au and more of too much internal serious reflection whoopsies)
When Neil comes to, itâs in a sterile room. Bleak, white light filters in from the open door, and he isâŚâŚ completely alone. Itâs silent, save for the intermittent beeping of the machines, and everything hurts. For a moment, a blessed, easy moment, he canât remember where he is, or why heâs there. And then it all comes crashing back, a 12-foot wave of pain, guilt, and regret. Then the heavy sadness. It didnât work. Heâs trapped. God fucking damn it, can he do anything right?
In the drawing-room, Tom and Eleanor are sitting by the phone, quiet. Grief had washed away the anger that stood staunch in that room only days before, and uncertainty continued to pool in them. And then they got the phone call. It felt like a miracle. Eleanor had fallen into Tom, crying, once again, but for the first time in ages, the tears were those of relief. Their family was going to be okay. They could heal from this.
The months that followed were hard. The hardest theyâd ever had to reckon with. Neil, somehow, blessedly, escaped without lasting damage to his brain. When he was left alone for any longer than a moment, it weighed on him. When he had gone into the study that night, he had felt⌠steady. Sure. More sure than heâd been in a while. Resolute. Andâ in the wake of thatâ to find out heâd been foiled by a shaky hand, it felt like a cruel slap to the face. As time wore on, he tried hard to find the lust for life heâd briefly gotten his hands on, but his parents had deliberated, theyâd decided to send him away, and they only told the school heâd- nothing after. And send him away they did, somewhere where he couldnât make long-distance calls, and any calls he would have tried to make were long-distance. He was completely cut off from the person he used to be, and the people who had made him that person. Total isolation. He barely heard from his parents, save the occasional letter reminding him of the expectations they had. Forget lust for life, he hardly had it in him to resist. He was back to square one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At 32, Neil felt as if he stopped needing to adjust to things, or maybe he only just realised it. Suburban New Jersey was both exactly like Vermont and a far, far cry from it. He rarely let himself think about Vermont, though. The person he was before he went to military school in Scotland. Before what he only lets himself refer to as âThe Incident.â
Heâs a far cry from that person now. Dwelling on it only serves to make him sad. So, he settles into his new routine, and for a while, he forces himself, pointedly, not to think about how close he is to Vermont. Then, as time continues to pass, that becomes routine too. Suppressed without him having to think about it. He finds, in time, that he likes the bustle of the hospital. Thereâs no time for him to think past his cases. Saves him from himself some days.
The pager on his belt beeps, and he sees the code on the little screen. The one which means he has a new patient. And he steps back into the routine, going to the emergency room to do his job. One foot in front of the other. He has to remind himself sometimes not to mourn. He did his time, he felt his grief. Even 16 years later, it tries to get on top of him. But, his job keeps it at bay. Occupies his mind. Most days, he can hardly remember he used to be a different person. Some days he feels it brewing, just under the surface of his attention. It doesnât get on top of him though. Never.
So, when he pulls the curtain back, clipboard in hand, his mind is blessedly empty, his gait is sure, and he doesnât think twice about only skimming the chart he was handed for symptoms. Usually, he just takes the patient history himself. So, he walks in, as secure as he can be, doing the job he knows heâs good at.
He knows the EMTs had to resuscitate. From the beeping, he can tell that the pulse is still thready. But there. He knows the basics from his perfunctory skim of the chart. Overdose, patientâs pulse was lost for 3 seconds while unresponsive. This seems fairly easy, comparatively. He knows what to do. Heâs well trained. Heâs secure in his knowledge. Resolute.
And then he looks up from his clipboard.
Itâs amazing how much 16 years can change a person. Features age, the angles of youth soften. But there are some things about a person that donât change. A laugh, a smile.
Big blue eyes.
There are some things about a person you can never forget. He glances down at his chart. And there it is, the thing he didnât read, in the same swoopy handwriting he remembered from- then.
Todd Anderson.
Fuck.
after seeing clips from tape and house I can only think of an anderperry au where Neil doesnât die, but gets sent away and becomes a doctor. The next time he and Todd meet? Todd overdosed. You just have to hear me out for this one:
âNeil! We all thought you died!â
âWell I didnât. You though? You did. Legally. For three whole seconds. Todd what the fuck?â
(actual link to gif set because tumblr's being weird)
Man it's the fact this statement is weirdly big and generous and brave in Armand's mind. I think it was Assad or someone else who said it was a moment of overconfidence or almost gloating, which is not the exact vibe I get, but I think there's something to that big-headedness of having survived and gotten through it and it's over now and just... He just wants to see. He just wants to skip that little stone down the cliff and see what happens. Maybe if nothing happens *then* he would actually be able to exhale. (He will not. He'd find something else. There's an itch in him that's never going to be secure enough in the bed he made.) Maybe it's just wanting to test something - Louis or himself or how many ways he can't die.
People tie it directly to Armand not being able to say the words in 2x05, which is probably intentional, but also it's not *exactly* the same because for one thing it's in the Past Tense now. It's very much meant as a moment of *closure* - he DID love you, past tense, we don't know where he is or how he feels now and that doesn't matter - while in San Francisco with Lestat right there on the mind telephone, it was the present tense terror that maybe that really was all Louis needed to hear to go running back to him.
But their relationship has also changed SO dramatically since San Francisco that it feels like even the past-tense version is a very, very precarious thing to admit. Because it's not about the material love triangle, it's not who-will-Bella-Swan-choose, it's about 70 years of mythmaking and storytelling.
SIDEBAR: The show left us IMO with a very frustrating ambiguity about the extent to which Armand has used his mind powers on Louis, like to the point where you have some fans believing that *every single fucking memory* we saw onscreen that they didn't like for the last two seasons is Fake News actually, and other fans believing it happened Just That One Time GOD. (I personally lean toward way *less* mind manipulation than other people assume, and if it was literally JUST the shit that happened in 1973 that's... enough to be messed up lol. I think the "love of my life" and finishing each other's sentences scenes have some unsettling implications. I *don't* think Louis having imperfect recall and limited perspective of stuff that happened a century ago is because of Armand all or even *most* of the time.)
But the fact no matter what is that Louis has a lot of cognitive dissonance around Lestat because he WANTS it acknowledged on some bone-deep level that Lestat loved him, because he loved/continues to love him too. And if we're gonna insist on throwing the word "gaslighting" around when we just mean "lying", then at the end of the day it's about Louis being told he's not crazy by someone who has at times made him feel that way.
Idk maybe this is me getting Too Deep about a finale I still think is kinda unsatisfying and already had way too much to do with Lestat and not enough with Claudia. But I do like that moment when I look past the toxic love triangle and more toward "hey buddy [my best friend Armand] why are you Like That" and Louis' little smile breaking my heart.
Something sad about that moment is Armand's right that saying those words *doesn't* end the world, and if nothing else had happened and Daniel and the Vampire CIA weren't on their divorce-attorney kick, that'd be the end of it. (Hot take I don't think saying the words or not in 1973 would've really made a difference either, and there's so much more nuanced and wild shit going on there than an undelivered message romcom beat.) And Louis would be *grateful* for that moment of understanding and closure between them.
#armand#louis de pointe du lac#interview with the vampire#tried to hard to attribute the gif correctly even though it wouldn't link straight to it#get it together tumblr#so much iwtv meta in my drafts and so little i actually post. probably for a reason.
So Im new to the httyd fandom and I was curious about the hijack ship. I donât think Jack Frost is in httyd. Was it just one of those things where you saw Rise of the Guardians and thought Jack would go well with Hiccup? Iâm just curious. âşď¸
Hiiii. So Iâm definitely not the one that came up with Hijack XD The ship has been around for over a decade now itâs not exactly news. But I understand when ppl first come across it it seems strange so Iâll give you a rundown.
And youâd be right. Jack isnât in httyd and nor is Hiccup in Rotg. So in the fanon community, this is what we call a ârare pairâ or aka, a ship that crosses fandoms and is made up mostly of fanon content. It might seem strange but it happens a lot. Itâs fanon. And crossovers are the traditional crux fun of fanfiction so itâs not that weird.
Hijack is heavily associated with a very popular quadruple crossover known as ROTBTD or Rise of The Brave Tangled Dragons. This is an intersection between Disney Merida and Rapunzel with Dreamworks Jack and Hiccup. Rotbtd went craaaazyy in the 2010s and thereâs a lot of different content with fics and fanart.
From this, some ppl often ship Jackunzel or Mericup or etc etc you get the idea thereâs a lot of different dynamics.
I never really dove too heavily into the rotbtd stuff but Iâm still familiar.
So thatâs the history. As for Jack and Hiccup? Theyâre weird as hell I get it lmao. Like wtf is this? XD.
Hiccupâs married with kids. Jackâs in the modern era etc. They have a lot of canon hurdles so why do people ship them?
My answer?
They work.
They work together so well in so many different ways that it takes over your brain. Hijack grows on you bit by bit.
As for what they have in common. Theyâre both big fliers and adrenaline junkies. They both question their purpose. They both know what itâs like to lose family. They both have gone through years of loneliness. Jack is a guardian, Hiccup is a chief - theyâre both protectors. Theyâre both fighters. Theyâve both been suddenly shunned after feeling like they were finally beginning to belong. They both have issues with footwear (lmao sorry). Hiccup creates inventions, Jack creates frosty art and fun with his powers. They both do their character development by a lake in a forest lol. They both have burly accented father figures XD. Jack is the boy who fell into icy water. Hiccup is the boy who fell into blazing fire.
Thereâs a beautiful parallel in lines here.
Rotg: âJack Frost is many things, but he is not a guardian.â
Httyd: âYou are many things Hiccup, but a dragon killer is not one of them.â
And they both originate each from their own book series that got adapted.
And thatâs just the factual stuff. When it comes to their personalities whooowheeeeee.
Over the last decade Iâve seen lots of stuff that does them a disservice when ppl reduce Jack to the outgoing âjokesterâ and Hiccup to the introvert ânerdy guyâ. In the earlier days some ppl were shipping httyd1 Hiccup, which personally I find extremely weird. Never engaged with that lol. After httyd2 came out that disappeared mostly but still itâs unsettling.
Anyways I donât like the simplification of their characters and prefer when maybe older creators can take them in a more emotionally complex direction and when they do ohhhh my goddddddd. You end up with storytelling masterpieces with amazing character dimensionality.
I could go on for hours. Thereâs just something about them. Itâs hard to put it into a single word but when theyâre done right they just work.
AN: What do we have here? Did we forget a couple presents under the tree? Merry Christmas Nyxy, happy Boxing day- I hope you don't regret it. That's it folks, we made it to the end of Smutmas! Did you like it? Or were you all too burned out on smut on the heels of Kinktober? Would you like to see this or a similar event next year? Above all, remember the biggest lesson learned here- don't lick doorknobs.
CW: Smut, religious trauma, pretending to be a priest, belly bulge, loss of virginity, anointing oil used as lube (Don't do this)
Summary: Vox is owed money and the price of business is high. He's not a businessman anyone should keep waiting. So when Father Francis does just that, Vox finds a rather entertaining way to pass the time while he waits around the church.
You make the perfect thing to pass the time with. Sweet, innocent and pure- you take every one of his lies at face value, trusting the new priest taking your confession in the place of Father Francis. The cost of forgiveness and absolution for your sins is high but⌠the new Father wouldn't lie to you, would he?
Vox straightened his suit as he stood from the pew. Parishioners milled about still, lining up to speak to the priest as if he could somehow grant them salvation into heavenâs pearly gates if they but only had a few more moments of his time.Â
The idea alone had Vox scoffing, but he did what he did best and put on a showmanâs smile. There would be people who notice him, remember him, but that was the price he paid for being him.
âFather Francis!â Vox held out his hands, palms out, and spread in greeting. Nothing to see here, folks, just a friend greeting the father. âItâs so good to see you.â
Father Francis greeted, wrapping Vox in his arms in a tight hug. The preacher patted Voxâs back, whispering in his ear, âWait in the confessional box.âÂ
Vox nodded, walking confidently over to the booths. He made a point of admiring the ornate craftsmanship; the details carved deep into the wood while he also looked around to see if anyone was watching him.Â
As soon as the coast was clear, Vox opened the door closest to him and stepped inside. The dim light inside was just enough to see by, not illuminating much in the way of details.
There wasnât much inside the small booth, all things considered. The bench was simple and hanging on a small hook inside the door was a spare set of robes, much like those that the good Father wore on a typical day.Â
âMr. Vox?â Father Francis poked his head inside the door.Â
âDo you have the payment?â Vox asked, keeping his voice low.Â
âI need to make a run to the hospital. A parishionerâs father is not well, I- Itâs urgent, Mr. Vox.â The man stood just inside the small booth, looking sheepishly at Vox.Â
âYouâre not trying for a delay, are you, old chap?â Vox made a show of looking at his nails, not wanting Father Francis to have any more attention than Vox deemed necessary.Â
âNo!â Father Francis repeated the word, softer as he looked around sheepishly. âNot at all. Iâll have the funds. I just- we donât think heâll make it more than a few more hours. Itâs vital that he has his last rites. You understand, donât you?âÂ
âSure,â Vox waved his hand as if he was batting away a bug. âIâll just wait right here. You wonât be long, will you?âÂ
âMake yourself comfortable in the chapel.âÂ
âOh,â Vox laughed. âIâll be waiting right here.âÂ
âNo, no-â Father Francis laughed awkwardly as he reached for the door. âSomeone will mistake you as a preacher. You-âÂ
âGood!â Vox said, a smile blooming on his face. âAll the more reason for you to hurry back.âÂ
Vox sat, passing the time, playing what amounted to dress up. The last thing he wanted was to step out of the little box and have to deal with socializing. Instead, he put on the robes, dressing himself in the garb of Father Francisâ role. He admired the feel of the robes, how different they made him feel, only to freeze in place at the sound of door hinges squeaking.Â
Someone stepped into the booth on the other side of the wall. Vox looked back and forth in a panic, hoping to find some sort of hint, something to tell him what he should do or say next.Â
âForgive me, Father, for I have sinned.â Your soft voice carried through the wall easily. You sat neatly on the small bench, head down, as you focused on your task.Â
âHavenât we all,â Vox whispered under his breath.Â
âIâm sorry?â You looked up, eyes glanced at the mesh that obscured your view of the man on the other side of the wall. You couldnât see much more than the basic shape of him sitting there.Â
âNothing,â Vox waved the question away, out of habit more than anything, not knowing if you could see him at all. âCarry on.âÂ
âIt has been⌠it has been a while since my last confession, Father.â Your fingers twisted in the soft fabric of your skirt as you tried to will the tears back from your eyes. The air in the booth tasted bitter and stale on your tongue, but you forced yourself to take a deep lungful of it, anyway.Â
âTell me of your sins?â Vox urged, not knowing for sure if it was the right thing to say but wanting to urge you on. You had such a pretty voice. He couldnât help but wonder if the face matched it. Hell, did your body match the voice?Â
âIâve⌠lust has plagued me,â you whispered, struggling to find your voice in the face of the horrible things you had been thinking. âI- the thoughts come to me during the darkness of night, during the devilâs hours. I focus on my prayers, but the thoughts- they even come to me in my dreams.âÂ
âAnd what are those thoughts, exactly?â Vox asked, leaning forward.Â
âI beg your pardon?â Your voice wavered as you looked again at the mesh between you.Â
âI need to know the details of your thoughts,â Vox said, eyes straining to look through the mesh to see the woman sitting on the other side. âHow else can I offer you absolution?âÂ
âI-â you hesitated only for Vox to speak over your doubts.Â
âYou can trust me,â Vox said, smile spreading wide. âIâm just a man of God, here to help.âÂ
âOkay,â Doubt lingered in your voice, but you pushed on. âThereâs been men- Iâve been noticing them. Iâve been noticing things about them and thinking-âÂ
âWhat have you been noticing about them?â Vox asked, scooting closer to the mesh, hoping to see something more than just your silhouette.Â
âOh.â The sound came out as a sweet little squeak that ran down Voxâs spine. âThe⌠the way their pants rest on theirâŚtheir bodies.âÂ
âWhat parts of their bodies?â Vox pressed. âYou need to be honest and detailed or I cannot help you.âÂ
âRight,â you sighed the word, face and chest growing hot with the words you were going to say. âThe way they rest on⌠their hips and around their⌠pelvis.â It took you a while to settle on the right word, unsure how⌠vulgar the good Father wished for you to be. âI also⌠notice the way their shirts fit across their chest or the way the muscles in their hands and arms move.âÂ
âAnd what does that noticing inspire?â Vox leaned closer to the mesh wall. âOur God made the human form in his perfect image, did he not? Isnât admiring the beauty of it little more than worshiping of His greatest work?âÂ
âI-â You sighed, âYes, I suppose, but⌠It makes me think of how it would feel if they⌠if they gave me their attentions.âÂ
âIn what sort of way?â Vox had his face nearly pressed against the mesh now, finally seeing you, though poorly.Â
âInâŚ. romantic ways.â Your voice came meeker as shame washed over you.Â
âHow?â Vox pressed, needing more, wanting more. He could hear the shame in your voice, the watery sound of emotion threatening to choke your words.Â
âI⌠I think of how it would feel to have their hands on my.. on my thighs or touching my breasts.â You choked on the words, face burning with shame as you ran your hands through your hair. Curling in on yourself, you willed the words to continue. If you couldnât say it, he couldnât help you. âI think of how it would feel if they kissed me and held me as a husband should hold his wife.âÂ
âAnd how is that?â Vox shifted, pants growing tighter under the robes. âYou must be very detailed, my child. The devil is in the details and you do want me to help you, donât you?âÂ
You whimpered, curling in on yourself more. Never had you felt so shameful sitting in this little booth. It had been a place of comfort for most of your life, but now? Shame was all you felt. It had been too long since you had come. That was what made your mind, heart, and soul weak.Â
âI think of⌠the feeling of his skin against mine. I- Of the way his lips would feel on my skin⌠and what it would feel like to have them⌠have them take me to their beds and lay with me.â Tears welled in your eyes as you confessed to the good Father your sins.Â
âHave you acted on these desires?â Vox asked, palming his hardening cock through his pants.
âI am pure,â you whispered, pleading with the priest on the other side of the thin wall to believe you. Your attendance slipped, but you were still godly. You hadnât acted on the thoughts. You had done nothing forbidden. He had to believe you. God had to believe you, had to know.Â
âEven to yourself?â Vox asked, pulling his cock from his pants, moving slowly to make as little noise as possible. Once he was free, head brushing against the inside of the robes, he wrapped his fingers around his shaft. A sigh whispered between his lips as he leaned back, shifting his hips toward the edge of the seat as he worked his fist over the length of him slowly. âDo you touch yourself to these thoughts? Do you indulge in the- the lust of them?âÂ
âI-â Tears ran down your cheeks. You were crying openly now, no longer making an effort to hide it. If you wanted forgiveness, you had to lay it all bare in front of the Father and in front of God. âI almost did, Father. Last night- Thatâs why I came here. Please, I do not wish to sin.âÂ
âDo you feel it?â he murmured, his voice low and deliberate as his hand began to move faster over his length. âThat ache inside you, the one that refuses to be ignored?â
âYes, Father.â You answered, though you were not sure you understood. The ache inside you was the demon, clawing at your insides, demanding your fall.Â
âThe cure is surrender,â he said, leaning closer to the mesh. âYou have to open yourself completely. Let yourself be filled, every inch of you, until thereâs nothing left but the purity of what youâve accepted.âÂ
Your pulse quickened, your voice barely audible. On the other side of the thin wall, you could just hear a rhythmic rustling, almost. It was a ghost of the sound, as if he was rubbing his leg. âAnd if I canât?âÂ
A slow smile curved his lips. âYou will,â he said, his tone curling around you in sinful delight. You told yourself it was little more than the whispers of demons. âYou just have to let it take you... wholly.â
âIâm scared.â Your voice was broken, strangled by fear and shame.Â
âOh fuck,â Vox whispered, precum smearing against the inside of the robe. âThe price for absolution will be high, my child.â Vox struggled to keep his voice steady as he swiped a thumb over the head of his cock, smearing the slick fluid that hadnât been wiped away yet.Â
âIâll do whatever it takes,â you cried, turning to face the man you could not see, tears dropping from your chin. The scraping of your nails against the wooden frame of the booth was loud in the small space, or at least it seemed that way to you and to Vox.Â
âThe cure for lust is to be filled with- with the Holy Spirit.â Vox said again, âThis is a ceremony of utmost seriousness a-and we must begin it immediately.â
Vox was certain you would question him. There was no way you would just accept his lies. Surely he was too far off the accepted script, but damn, you sounded so sweet and innocent, sitting there crying in the other half of the box⌠and he wanted you.Â
He wanted to take that innocence and grind it under his heel. It angered him in a way that he couldnât explain that something as sweet and innocent as you could exist, untainted.
âWhat must I do?â you whispered. âIâll do anything to be in Godâs graces again, to be freed of this demon. Please, Father. Please, help me?âÂ
âGood,â Vox sighed, cringing as he tried to shove his cock away, settling on fastening his pants up over his shaft. The waistband pinned his head to his abdomen. âStand up and close your eyes,â Vox said, smile growing wide and greedy. âDo not open them until I tell you. Iâm going to lead you to a room where we can see to this ceremony.âÂ
âBut Father-?â You stood, eyes fluttering shut even as you questioned him. You were, at your core, a good girl who listened to the authority of the Church.Â
âDo you trust your God?â Vox asked, standing himself. âDo you trust in the power he has vested in me?âÂ
âYes,â you said without a shadow of doubt as that feeling twisted your insides. It was a vile, uncomfortable feeling that had you shifting your weight from one foot to the other.Â
âGood girl,â Vox said, stepping out of the booth.Â
The church was empty. His eyes settled on the altar and oh, he would love nothing more than to push everything off of it and take you right on top of it. That wouldnât do, though. It would be pushing you too far.Â
He opened the door to your booth, finding you standing with your eyes closed. You were just as he hoped you to be. Perfect and meek and oh so good. You looked like a ripe fruit, ready for the picking. Perhaps you were an apple?
Vox was eager to spoil you for all that would come after him. âKeep your eyes closed.âÂ
âWhy?â you asked, even as you continued to obey, walking forward as a hand wrapped around your arm at the elbow, tugging you softly out of the box.Â
âWhy, we must keep the sanctity of the confession.â A wicked smile spread on Voxâs face, though you could not see it. All you could hear was the soft care in his voice, promising you he was a man who cared about whatâs best for you.Â
Vox lead you carefully through the church. He wasnât totally unfamiliar with the building. The altar was too risky, but Father Francisâ office- surely no one would go in his office without at least knocking first. He watched as he lead you, ensuring your eyes stayed closed each step of the way.Â
You allowed yourself to be led, heart pounding in your chest as you squeezed your eyes closed. Fear kept trying to worm itself into your mind, but you pushed it back down again and again, reminding yourself that you were safe. You were with a man of God.Â
âWhere are we going?â you asked. âWhat happens next?âÂ
Vox shushed you. âI need you to show faith in your God.âÂ
Vox walked you into the office, your simple heels clicking against the hardwood floors. After directing you to stand where you were, Vox made quick work of cleaning the desk of the stacks of papers and books Father Francis left littered on the surface.Â
Once the task was seen to, he returned to your side, placing a steady hand at the small of your back. âWeâre just about ready.âÂ
âCan I open my eyes?â you asked.Â
âNot now,â Vox said, smoothing down the hair at the back of your head as he walked you up to the desk. âYou must show great faith as I exercise the demons of lust from you. You cannot open your eyes before I say you can. Are you ready and willing to offer your body up as a sacrificial lamb in exchange for absolution?â
âWhat is going to happen?â Your voice trembled as you once again reminded yourself that you needed to trust the Father. He would take good care of you, as was his duty. He wouldnât harm one of his flock. Still, the very idea of giving your body as sacrifice terrified you. âWill it hurt?âÂ
âNo,â Vox said sweetly, âI promise I will try my best to not cause you any pain.âÂ
âWhat must I do?â You tried to sound brave, tried to lean on your faith for the strength to get through the unknown trials ahead of you.Â
âBend over.â Vox brought your hand to the solid surface of the old wooden desk. âLay over this. Whatever comes next, know that I am working as an agent of the divine to purge you of these sinful thoughts. You are safe in Godâs house. The Devil cannot touch you here.âÂ
âYes, Father.â You laid across the flat surface. Cold from the wood radiating up into you as you willed your breathing to slow, trying to be calm.Â
What attempts you made at calming your nerves were undone as a large hand ran along your thigh, moving over the thick fabric of your skirt. You squeezed your eyes closed as the hand moved around your side, caressing up the curve of your ass.Â
âHave faith,â you whispered to yourself as the hand hooked under the elastic band of your skirt and your panties. âHave faith.âÂ
âYes,â Vox said above you. âHave faith. This is what must be done to purge you of your sinful thoughts. I must be able to see the areas where you long to feel the touch of sin to purify it.âÂ
âWhat should I do?â You asked again, not daring to open your eyes.Â
âJust lay there,â Vox answered. âI will take care of everything.âÂ
He wasnât surprised in the slightest to see the full coverage, modest panties fall to the ground around your ankles along with your skirt. What did surprise Vox was that your stockings were thigh highs, not tights that would reach up to your waist. A part of you enjoyed the feeling of something scandalous, a little sexy.Â
You trembled, laying on the desk as your most private place was exposed. âHave faith,â you whispered again and again before whispering prayers. It felt right while you were being prepped for a ceremony that you should pray.Â
Vox looked at your folds, moist but far from the slick pathway he would need your virginal body to be.Â
âStay just like that,â Vox said, running his hands over the naked curve of your ass before leaving you.Â
Things clattered around you as the Father looked around the room, looking for something. You laid there, listening as you whispered your prayers. Even within the sanctity of the church, you could feel the siren call of lust demanding your attention.Â
The feeling of the Fatherâs hand on your skin felt good, and that was sinful. That was why you needed him to purify you. You needed help. He had to help you.
You needed something, though you didnât understand what it was your body was longing for as you shifted your weight from one foot to the other. The change in position stimulated something between your legs, something sinful that had you shifting your weight again, thighs rubbing against each other as you did so.
Vox returned to you, standing back for a moment to just watch as your thighs moved against eachother. From between your puffy folds, he could see the glittering of slick starting to build ever so slightly, reflecting the dim light in the room back at him.Â
You may have been a pure church girl, but your body responded like the slut you wanted to be. He smiled, knowing you were aroused even if you didnât understand it at the time.Â
âMove your feet apart,â Vox ordered, eyes locked on your folds as they spread, exposing your opening more. âGood girl.âÂ
âPlease,â you whispered. âI need to be freed from this sin. I- I can feel it calling to me, tempting me even here.âÂ
âSin cannot reach you here,â Vox said, opening the bottle of anointing oil and sniffing it. There was nothing to the scent that gave him any reason to believe it would sting or burn either your sensitive walls or him. âI am going to anoint you now.âÂ
Cold wetness dripped onto your core, running over folds and down your legs as you jumped. Vox shushed you, offering honeyed words of reassurance as he spread the slick oil over your exposed sex.
The strange sensation wasnât unpleasant, and that terrified you. You trembled under his touch, body begging you to lean back, to chase the feeling of his hands running along your slick folds.Â
âIsnât this a sin?â You struggled to keep your eyes closed, wanting nothing more than to look back at the Father for reassurance.Â
âIt is a blessing,â he said, robes shuffling. âKeep your eyes closed and Iâll save you from the demons of lust.âÂ
âOkay,â you whispered, wanting to believe him. He was a priest. He was a man of God. He wouldnât hurt you. He wouldnât cause you to sin.
For a moment, Vox simply stepped back, admiring the view you made while he pulled the robes up, gathering it around his abdomen and tucking the fabric into the back of his pants. He carefully worked his fly down, trying to make as little noise as possible before he returned his hands to you.Â
He gripped the globes of your ass, spreading you open for a clearer view of your slicked up hole. Fuck, he groaned internally. You looked tight. It would make sense. You were a fucking virgin, unspoiled even by yourself.Â
Vox looked forward to ruining that.Â
Vox poured some of the oil onto his shaft, smearing it around and slicking himself up as he watched your legs shake with how badly you wanted to close them. You were such a good girl, listening to him so well.Â
He would reward you for that obedience. How many times could he bring you to orgasm? Would your body be responsive, or would you fight the pull of pleasure? Vox knew he was going to ensure you at least had one. Sure, this had very little to do with you but he was anything but a selfish lover.Â
Vox rubbed the blunt tip of his cock through your folds, critical eyes cataloging every reaction of your body. He watched as your muscles tensed as he probed your entrance and jumped under your skin as he nudged your pretty little clit.Â
The slick oil was far from a perfect lubricant but hopefully, you would soon relace it with your own natural productions. Vox pressed the head of his cock against your opening, parting the walls for the first time with such slowness he would consider it to be care.Â
âWhat are you-?!â you gasped, spine pulling tight and lifting your head up off the desk as his bulbus head popped inside of you. The stretch of him burned. Your eyes shot open, though you did everything you could to not look over your shoulder.Â
Hands rested on your bare hips, holding you in place. It wasnât needed. You didnât have anywhere you could have gone with the desk in front of you.Â
âIn order to purify you,â Vox said, thumbs rubbing soothing circles on your lower back. âThe oil must go inside the core of your lust. It must be placed with something holy.â As he spoke, he sank deeper and deeper into you. The way your body squeezed around him made it hard to think or breathe, but Vox knew he couldnât afford any mistakes. You had believed everything he had said and he would not fuck it up now. âYou understand, donât you? Iâm doing this for you, to save your soul.âÂ
âYes, Father.â The words tumbled out of your mouth as you felt the front of his pants press into your ass.Â
The feeling of something inside of you stole your breath away. You felt so full as his seated cock twitched inside you, spreading blessed oil onto your inner walls. Your mind screamed at you that this was wrong, that something was wrong, but you refused to think about that. The burning pleasure of his holy tool pulling from your anointed body was more important.Â
You expected him to withdraw from you now, having used his most holy tools to anoint you from the inside out. Instead, he pushed inside you again, moving slowly enough that your walls allowed him to drag but not lingering.Â
âWhat is happening?â You asked as his hips again nestled against your ass.Â
âI carry in me the Holy Spirit,â Vox said, thrusting slowly into you again and again, feeling as your body adjusted to the intrusion. âIt takes time for me to deposit it within you. Only then will you be pure again of sin, free of the demons of Lust.âÂ
Shudders ran down your body as you struggled with the full feeling of having something inside you. It felt wrong, but not unpleasant. You wanted more of it and for him to stop all at once.Â
It was alright; you kept telling yourself that again and again. He was a holy man. It wasnât fornication; it was a ceremony. He wasnât acting as a man. He was acting as a vessel of the Lord.Â
You struggled as he pushed into you. You wanted to chase the feelings he was giving you, the sensations whispering of pleasure you could only imagine if you just gave in. Surely, resisting the call of the pleasure was a part of the test.Â
âGive in,â Vox whispered above you. âRelax. Let it happen.âÂ
âOh-â your breath hitched, breaking the sound up into a gasp. Confusion warred with the pleasure of the ceremony. âOkay.âÂ
Vox looked down at you, watching as your body shifted up the desk with every slow thrust in. You were so tight wrapped around his cock. Tight, innocent, virginal as you whispered your sweet little prayers, begging for salvation even as he ruined you.Â
Vox couldnât help the grin that spread on his face as he slowly picked up his pace. Each thrust into you brought pleasure through you both, stroking nerves that no one had touched before.Â
As his thrusts came faster, you couldnât manage to take a full breath. The force of his godly hips hitting your ass knocked the breath from your lings. Each thrust hit you with a spike of pleasure, making your voice jump as he hit something inside you that seemed to act like a wall.Â
âOh, ow!â you jerked away from the feeling.Â
âShh,â Vox cooed behind you, pushing his cock deep into you, slowly pushing your cervix back to allow him to truly bottom out. Reaching around your hips, he ran his fingers over your oiled folds, searching until he found the nub of your clit. âJust relax. Your body will make room for me, for God. Thatâs the demon inside you.âÂ
It took everything in Vox to not laugh at the nonsense he was spewing, focusing instead on the way your warm body felt around him.Â
âThe demon?â You whimpered as his cock pushed against that painful thing again.Â
âYes,â Vox said as his fingers slipped around your oil coated clit. âCan you feel it?â He knew you could. There was no way your body could lie to him. He felt the way your body clenched when he hit your cervix. He felt the ripples of tensing muscles that irritating the sensitive end of your tunnels caused.Â
âI can,â you gasped. âIt hurts me. Will you chase it away?âÂ
âI will,â Vox promised as he worked his cock into you again and again. âYou must submit and let whatever happens happen.âÂ
His body slapped against yours, the sharp edge of the desk cutting into your hips with each thrust. Pain shot up through you as he hit the demon again and again. Along with the pain, pleasure came. You tried to focus on the sensations, the pleasure that the blessing was giving you.Â
Each thrust into you by the holy tool brought more and more pleasure. âSomethingâs happening,â you cried out as your muscles tensed. Something inside you felt like it was becoming brittle and ready to break. âSomethingâs-âÂ
âLet it happen,â Vox said. âItâs alright.âÂ
Your legs spread more, chasing the feeling of the blessing. It felt⌠so good. That was why this ceremony was a secret. If anyone knew how good it felt, they would think it was sinful.Â
Vox was more than pleased to watch your feet inch further apart, giving him better access to your clit. That and a small pinch to the sensitive bundle was all it took to have your walls twitching and clamping down around his cock.Â
âOh,â Vox moaned, choking off the curse that so badly wanted to tumble from his lips. âThatâs it.âÂ
Your fingers dug into the desk as your eyes clamped closed. It felt like the good Father was pulling your body apart, ripping every muscle fiber from another before putting them all back together again.Â
âGood girl,â Vox whispered, riding the waves of your orgasm, thrusting through the sensitive walls as he waited for their waves of pleasure to calm. âYouâre doing so good for me, for your- for our God.âÂ
âIs it- Are we done?â You panted, fingers twitching as his pace slowed. âIs it outside of me?â
âNo,â Vox sighed, reaching down and wrapping a large hand around your leg. He lifted it, twisting and rolling your body so that you were spread wide, leg bent and hooked around his torso. Each thrust into you in the new position had his pants rubbing against your sensitive clit as his shaft worked into your tight hole.Â
âNo?â You whimpered, torn. You should have been disappointed, but you were far from it. You wanted the Father to continue his ceremony, working his tool into you repeatedly, giving you such pleasure.Â
That was the demon talking. You knew that. Thatâs why you needed him to purify you. Only Godâs blessing would save you from the demon within you, trying to pervert a holy ceremony.Â
âPlease,â you whispered, eyes slitting open as you looked at the ceiling. âPlease, my God.âÂ
Vox smiled, hand running up your side as he held your leg to his torso. âThatâs right, doll.âÂ
You could feel him pushing against nerves you hadnât realized went untouched before. Each thrust into you stole your breath as you focused on trying to keep your eyes closed. Pleasure had nearly replaced all the pain and discomfort now. Each thrust into you was smooth and filling.Â
âOh, God,â you whispered, pleasure building as it had before. You knew now that when it reached its peak, something magical, powerful would happen. Was that something God had given you, something that was a part of the ceremony? Or perhaps it was something you could look forward to sharing when you married and gave your body to your husband.Â
âUnbutton your shirt,â Vox ordered, struggling to push back his orgasm. He wanted to see you finish at least one more time.Â
âWhy?â Your protest came out more as a sigh than anything else, fingers acting before you had an answer.Â
âThe demon will leave through your skin,â Vox lied, pleased to see you doing as he said without question. The pleasure mixed with your faith, making you the perfect little fuckdoll.Â
He pushed your shirt back from your body, exposing your white bra. Of course it was simple, covering the whole of your breasts. It was expected though he wished he could have seen them.Â
All in good time. Perhaps after a second orgasm youâd be fucked too stupid to question why he needed to see your tits. It was just a matter of time. You were already getting there, one orgasm in. Virgins were so fucking easy.Â
Each thrust pushed you against the desk. Your foot lifted off the floor, the toe of your shoe grazing the hardwood floor as he pushed into you again. A flush rose to your chest and face anew as you caught sight of the man working into you, handsome and unknown.Â
âFather?â you whispered, watching his eyes leave your exposed sex and run up your body. âI donât-âÂ
âShh,â his voice came out soft, reassuring as he rocked his tool into you harder and faster. âYouâre doing so good for me, my child.âÂ
âWho-â The tightening in your body stole the ability to question anything. Whatever had happened early was coming dangerously close to happening again.Â
âPriest,â Vox groaned out the word and by god, you accepted the answer, moaning as his tool twitched inside you. âYouâre going to be so pure, so holy.âÂ
The promise of healing, of forgiveness mixed with the promise of pleasure, sending you over the edge once again. Your back arched with the force of the muscle contractions, breasts pushing out as your toes curled in your shoes. Sweet moans flowed from your mouth.Â
âOh God,â you cried out as the handsome Fatherâs fingers dug into your thigh and hips. âOh God. Bless me.âÂ
âSoon,â Vox whispered. âSoon, my child.âÂ
âMore?â You whispered, as his tool twitched strongly inside your clinched walls. âDo we need to go more?âÂ
âYes,â Vox groaned, watching the way your folds twitched with the power of your internal contractions. Your body was begging him for his seed. âLay back now.âÂ
Vox helped you roll onto your back, passing your leg to his other side. He guided your other leg up, resting them both on his shoulders. Leaning forward, strong hands ran up your sides as he watched your eyes flutter, settling on him, dazed.Â
There was nothing he had to fear now. You were far too drunk on his cock to think about what he wore under his robes or why you had never seen him before. He pushed the soft cotton of your bra up, freeing your tits from their confines.Â
âWhat-?â The question was little more than a sigh as you watched him reach for a bottle on the side of the desk.Â
âI need to anoint you,â Vox said, thrusting lazily into you. âWhere the demon has wanted you to sin.âÂ
Warmth radiated off the hand he planted on the desk, tempting you to reach out for him. Cold oil splashed as it drizzled on your chest. The tool inside you twitched as a thin stream of oil ran over your breasts.Â
Vox set the bottle aside, not bothering to put the stopper on before reaching out to you again. His warm hand smeared the slick oil over the mounds of your chest, fingers slipping over your nipples in a futile attempt to pinch the pebbled buds.Â
You arched into the touch, begging for his blessing. Your hips rocked, forcing him to move inside you, seeking more.Â
Once your skin was shiny with the oil, dim office lights reflecting off your curves, Voxâs hand returned to your hip. Finally, he began to thrust into you again. He watched, eyes roaming eagerly as he pounded into you with more force than he had before.Â
Your body jerked harshly on the desk, no longer pinned in place by your legs as his hips crashed into you again and again. Each blow into you pushed against that thing, that sign of the demon inside of you. The pain was less, just as he had promised it would be.Â
âBless you,â you gasped as the pleasure of his tool hitting that place outweighed the pain. The demon was being purged from you with each thrust inside of you. âI want to be pure.âÂ
âYou will be,â Vox grunted, pushing your legs off his shoulders. He pushed your legs down, causing your heels to click against the wooden floor. âI can see it inside you.âÂ
Vox was talking about the way his cock pressed out against your abdomen, but you, sweet innocent you shuddered, thinking he could see the demon inside of you.Â
âPlease,â you moaned the words. âPlease, make me pure, make me holy. Please, I want to be free from sin. Please, Father. Please.âÂ
Your begging was just what Vox wanted to hear. His cock twitched and swelled, threatening to explode within you, but he pushed his orgasm back, focusing on anything else. He threw your legs back over his shoulders and leaned into you.Â
He nearly folded you in half as the desk groaned under the weight. Dark hair that had once been so perfectly combed back fell into his eyes as he pounded his tool into you. The pleasure was overwhelming, pulling moans from your lips easily.Â
Your breasts moved with every harsh thrust, tempting Vox to taste the oil he had smeared onto them. Your chants, pleas for your silly God to protect you, to bless you, went on and on as your body tightened. The force of your orgasm choked the words off, throat too tight for them to push through.Â
âVox?â The door to the office opened as Father Francis stepped into view.Â
âShit,â Vox hissed, jerking back from you just as his cock twitched, ropes of hot seed cascading from his tip as he slipped from your warm, milking embrace.Â
Vox wrapped his hand around his cock, eyes only darting over his shoulder for a moment before he focused on working his hand quickly over his length. Cum shot out, splattering your folds before he adjusted the angle, salvaging the situation.Â
âOh God,â you cried out as his holy spirit landed on your stomach. Ropes of it shot out from his tool, landing on your chest and running down your oil covered breasts.Â
âWhat are you doing in here?â Father Francis snapped before remembering himself. Vox was not a man to be fucked with. Certainly, Vox was not a man he could afford to fuck with.Â
âI was waiting for you to return, Father. Entertaining myself.â Vox said, shrugging his shoulders as he tucked his softening dick into his pants. The sound of his zipper being pulled up was deafening in the small office.Â
You rose up on your elbows, looking to Father Francis and the new Father with wide eyes.Â
âFather Francis,â you said. âThe new Father- he was helping rid me ofâŚâ your words trailed off as the new Father reached behind him, pulling the robes off and tossing them aside without a care.â Rid me of the demon of⌠Of lust..âÂ
âHeâs no Father.â Father Frances said, handing the other man an envelope and ordering, âYou need to leave.âÂ
âDonât keep me waiting next time,â Vox said, winking over his shoulder at you as you scrambled to cover your body, pulling your shirt across your breasts and pulling your knees up to your chest.Â
Panic ran through your veins like cold ice as you realized the man you had been with was no priest. The world wavered as tears welled in your eyes. He was no man of god; he was a demon personified and you? You were nothing more than a dirty sinner.Â
Fornication was your crime.Â
Father Francis watched Vox walk away as if he hadnât potentially ruined someoneâs life before looking back at you. It didnât surprise him in the least that you had fallen for the charming lies; you were innocent as could be.Â
âYou are not guilty of the sins another enacted upon you. Our Lord forgives you for anything he may have led you to do. Go⌠Go clean yourself up.â Father Francis turned on his heel, walking out of his office as tears ran down your face.Â
You were dirty, defiled. He had stolen your purity from you. God had let him take from you within his own house. You felt betrayed and worthless. The emptiness within you was crushing as you pulled your bra down over your breasts.Â
It was on that day that you came face to face with the demon of lust in the church. You had been too weak to resist the temptation. You had lost the battle that day, but you walked out of the church with a renewed determination to live your life godly, sinless.Â
Though you had the holiest of intentions, in the darkness of night, your hand crept up your thighs as you remembered what it felt like to be taken by the demon of lust.Â
this time last year i was probably sitting in the kitchen while my dad started making an early dinner of chicken bolognese trying not to get too nervous about the concert i'd be going to in a few hours
#the nyc concert was last year. LAST YEAR .#thats so insane like yeah that feels like a year ago but good god the insane amount of stuff that has happened since#but god i remember that day so well#it was cloudy and a little rainy in the morning which made me ough thinking it was a bad omen and wouldnt be as fun#and i remember going to library and printing out my silly letters (i should have just. not done that lol)#and on the DAY OF on the way back home from the library#i even bought a cropped black blazer specifically for my concert outfit. havent worn it since lmao#and my dad and i even watched a movie at lunch#a short movie but a movie nonetheless. lol and even then i was like oghh my gosh excitement and nervousness#and then the car service getting there i felt so fancy and as the drive started the clouds were magically dissipating#so that it was a nice clear evening when i got to the theatre#and then all the insanity of the show. god i cant believe it still after all this time. wowie#going to listen to a playlist of the show setlist im gonna get emotional now. guys........#one of my fave memories is how everyone started standing up as they went into so may we start so i was like ok are we all doing this#and stood up too and then stood for the entire rest of the concert. i think the first 3-5 rows were like that for the whole show#surreal and insane i was front row. those guys were REAL and CLOSE#i was also very excited to notice russells new shoes :) when i wasnt like awooga (how i was 99% of the time)#there was one so may we start jump that was well. yeah. front row baby#i think after latte i was like ok i cant film i gotta just vibe#religious experience doing the 'ah ah ah's during that. really interesting#ok im not gonna go through the whole show again but wowie one of my most insane nights. second only to hollywood bowl#wow what a fun year it was. just so many incredible moments#ok yay đ happy one year to all that. love those guys so much#spars#ok not actually done beaver o lindy was INSANE LIVE!!! So I hit my 700th edit for the WHA wiki today, because I am a totally normal person
#For the record I have been there for. 27 days.#That makes an average of 26 edits a day which is even more terrifying because I definitely was not updating every day#Also this is for the Telepedia Wiki not the Fandom one#Anyway you should check it out!#In maybe a week because the website cache is super slow for some reason when you're not logged in#But I'm having fun#The nice thing about working on a wiki where there's actually other people doing stuff#Is that they can do the boring stuff like character bios and etc while I run around doing the fun stuff like pages on animals and plants#Anyway I was working on the Eldroxen page which are the big fluffy ox from the Silver Eve Procession#And it was so funny collecting info on them from the main series and then checking Kitchen real quick and SURPRISE! THEY'RE EATING IT!#I mean I should have expected this after having watched Dungeon Meshi and yet~~~#Also funny was that I copy+pasted the page coding for one the (food) animals as a template for this giant Mole-worm beast page but#forgot to remove the line about it being for food and afterwards had a laugh and then removed it#But now I'm like. They probably WOULD eat that sucker. Giant mole worm/snake/dragon thing? That'd feed a whole town!#Qifrey could have an entire audience watching how he'd prepare and season it#Anyway if you've been wondering where I've been that's it#Also funny story: during the Covid pandemic I stayed employed when my coworkers got let go because they needed me to catalogue an entire#new set of guided reading books; and have these sets have a digital checkout instead of the old-school card catalog we were literally still#using in 2020. Anyway I went all out with the organization of the books and the boxes and even made a reference binder for the books#via subject so teachers/tutors could find specific subjects and reading levels etc#(I'd have done a digital way to search for results but honestly half the teachers couldn't figure out how to sign in to the laptop. So.)#Anyway. Only a handful of teachers actually used these books and two years later the school switched to a new reading program#that came with its own set of books and lessons so this 10k reading set was essentially unneeded (and my dear coworkers never got rehired)#Anyway I learned last week that they're clearing out that room and all of those barely-used books are getting thrown out đđđđđ#Isn't that funny#Literally everything is just sandcastles built in the surf#I'm so glad I already accepted this during my pumpkin carving years because otherwise I think I'd be upset#Anyway I'm gonna go play my spooky fishing game
A hear me out, unironic bop!
I'm rewatching the series of unfortunate events show, and I remembered this song from my childhood, so I had to go look it up, and yes it's still a bop!
#a series of unfortunate events#in the reptile room#so many moons ago when i was in elementary school i had to do book reports#i hated those and tbh i think book reports made me hate reading but thats a rant for another day#any way i was enjoying the series of unfortunate event book but I wasnt a fast reader#in other words i was not fast enough to finish a book in time to get a book report done#so my mom suggested i get the audio books#and so i ended up listening and reading along to the audio books to these books starting from 1 or 2 till id say book 7 or 8#i kind of dropped of the series by then and like i said before the book reporting kind of killed the enjoyment of the books#and i think for sure the last few i was just mindlessly listening and throwing together a report#back to my point at the start of the audio books their was a song a different one for each book#and this one obviously was for the reptile room#but i remember that hearing the new songs became something I was looking forward too#another hint maybe i wasnt as engaged with the story as i thought i was#but i would restart the audio book over and over just to hear this song#and years later i remember it and its still a bop#my post#my music#Youtube
Really good Twitter thread originally about Elon Musk and Twitter, but also applies to Netflix and a lot of other corporations.
Full thread. Text transcription under cut.
John Bull @garius
One of the things I occasionally get paid to do by companies/execs is to tell them why everything seemed to SUDDENLY go wrong, and subs/readers dropped like a stone. So, with everything going on at Twitter rn, time for a thread about the Trust Thermocline /1
So: what's a thermocline?
Well large bodies of water are made of layers of differing temperatures. Like a layer cake. The top bit is where all the the waves happen and has a gradually decreasing temperature. Then SUDDENLY there's a point where it gets super-cold.
That suddenly is important. There's reasons for it (Science!) but it's just a good metaphor. Indeed you may also be interested in the "Thermocline of Truth" which a project management term for how things on a RAG board all suddenly go from amber to red.
But I digress. The Trust Thermocline is something that, over (many) years of digital, I have seen both digital and regular content publishers hit time and time again. Despite warnings (at least when I've worked there). And it has a similar effect. You have lots of users then suddenly... nope. And this does effect print publications as much as trendy digital media companies. They'll be flying along making loads of money, with lots of users/readers, rolling out new products that get bought. Or events. Or Sub-brands.
And then SUDDENLY those people just abandon them. Often it's not even to "new" competitor products, but stuff they thought were already not a threat. Nor is there lots of obvious dissatisfaction reported from sales and marketing (other than general grumbling). Nor is it a general drift away, it's just a sudden big slide. So why does this happen? As I explain to these people and places, it's because they breached the Trust Thermocline.
I ask them if they'd been increasing prices. Changed service offerings. Modified the product.
The answer is normally: "yes, but not much. And everyone still paid" Then I ask if they did that the year before. Did they increase prices last year? Change the offering? Modify the product?
Again: "yes, but not much."
The answer is normally: "yes, but not much. And everyone still paid." "And the year before?"
"Yes but not much. And everyone still paid."
Well, you get the idea. And here is where the Trust Thermocline kicks in. Because too many people see service use as always following an arc. They think that as long as usage is ticking up, they can do what they like to cost and product.
And (critically) that they can just react when the curve flattens But with a lot of CONTENT products (inc social media) that's not actually how it works. Because it doesn't account for sunk-cost lock-in.
Users and readers will stick to what they know, and use, well beyond the point where they START to lose trust in it. And you won't see that. But they'll only MOVE when they hit the Trust Thermocline. The point where their lack of trust in the product to meet their needs, and the emotional investment they'd made in it, have finally been outweighed by the physical and emotional effort required to abandon it. At this point, I normally get asked something like:
"So if we undo the last few changes and drop the price, we get them back?"
And then I have to break the news that nope: that's not how it works.
Because you're past the Thermocline now. You can't make them trust you again.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
It was the Monday before the Belgium Grand Prix when Lando asked â what are you doing for summer break?
The sun had started to set over the coast, its golden reflection rippling across the water and onto the balcony of Landoâs Monaco apartment. The same balcony that the two of you currently resided on, choosing to share the wicker couch instead of one of you sitting in one of the empty chairs.
You were sat sideways on the couch with your legs crossed, your view consisting more of Lando than the picturesque sunset over the sea. A cheap bottle of pink moscato, which was your favorite, was sitting on the table where Lando had his feet propped up.
Heâd always complain about how sweet it was, but then drink more of it than you. In all reality, heâd actually grown to love it because of you, but heâd never tell you that. Heâd only been able to find it at one place in Monaco, so when he knew you were coming to visit he always made sure to have a couple bottles on hand and maybe a bottle for himself when he was missing you.
Your eyes met his as you processed his question. This right now was your summer vacation. He surely knew that, right? âSummer break? I donât have a summer break like you do, Lando.â It was true, you had barely managed to get this week off from work to be able to go to Belgium, let alone have a month off. âI figured me being here for a couple days then going to Belgium would be my vacation.â
A disapproving sigh escapes past his lips as he speaks. âThat is not a vacation.â
âWell it sure as hell beats being stuck at an office in London.â
He downed the remainder of the wine in his glass and fully turned his body towards you. His arm resting across the back of the couch, his fingers nearly touching you. âI think you should come with me on vacation.â
You stifle a groan by taking a drink of your wine. âLando, you know I donât do Ibiza. It's not my kind of place, especially this time of year.â It was a beautiful place no doubt, but the big party scene was not your favorite. And the couple times you had gone with Lando and your shared friend group it was so chaotic and you had a hangover that lasted for what seemed like a week. So noâ Ibiza and you werenât the best of friends.
âWho said anything about Ibiza?â Heâs got a smirk toying at the corners of his lips, you can tell by the way his upper lip twitches slightly. Not that you stare at his lips that much to be able to notice that kind of thing.
âLando Norris not going to Ibiza during his summer break? Should I alert the press? Did you hit your head? Are you running a fever?â You lean forward to check his temperature, but he playfully swatted away your hand with a giggle before you could get close enough. âHave you broken the news to Fewt-â
That smirk had fully developed across his face as he cut you off. âWho said anything about Max?â
Now you really thought that heâd bumped his head or was slightly tipsy already. You cocked an eyebrow at him in question. âWhere are you going then? Especially without Max?â
Lando leaned back, the wicker creaking beneath him, but his eyes were still trained on you. Golden hour had made them even more blue, resembling the crystal blue water that was just a short walk away. âIâm going wherever you want to go.â
âLando.â
âY/N.â Heâs the one to cock an eyebrow now.
âI canât go with you.â
His smirk had turned into a pout and he knew how to work those big blue eyes, especially on you. âWhy not? Wherever you want to goâ we will go. Not many people get that opportunity Y/N.â
You go to take another drink and realize your glass is empty, but before you can reach for the bottle Landoâs already got it in his hands, reaching over slightly to pour you another glass. âWho all is going then if Max isnât going?â
He sets the bottle back down on the table, hesitating for a moment before speaking. You two are close, probably the closest friend he has compared to Max, but he worries that you wonât be up for what heâs about to suggest. âIt would just be me and you.â
You feel your cheeks get hot at his proposal, but you shake it off, blaming it on the wine.
As much as the idea of Lando and you going on a trip together sounds amazing, you just donât think you can make it work. You live a normal life and being able to just go on lavish trips at the drop of a hat is not something you get to experience, no matter how much Lando wants you to or you would like to.
âI would love to Lan, but I don't think I could get the time off again.â Your finger nervously circles the rim of the wine glass as you contemplate even bringing your other reason up. Mainly because you know what his answer will be, but against your better judgment you take another swig of the wine as liquid courage before telling him the embarrassing truth. âI also just canât afford it.â
And without skipping a beat he blurts out. âIâll pay.â Youâre immediately shaking your head no, but before you can verbally deny his offer heâs speaking again âSeriously Y/N. I will pay. Itâs not a big deal.â
Except him paying your way for this trip is a big deal. Just how itâs a big deal everytime you come and visit him in Monaco and he insists that you donât spend a dime while youâre here. Itâs bad enough that you stay at his place, let alone have him pay for your dinner every night. Or how he is always offering to fly you out to races on your free weekends. Or insisting that the random gifts he gives you donât cost that much, like you canât read the designer labels on the boxes or labels.
It makes you feel bad that you canât offer the same back to him. The constant worry that he might think you are using him for his money makes your stomach hurt because itâs the last thing youâd ever do. Heâs one of the most giving and kindest people you know and to be able to call him your best friend is something you treasure. And you truly hope he knows how much you appreciate everything he does for you, but how could he not when you tell him every chance you get.
âLando, really I cannot let you pay for me to go on vacation. Itâs one thing to let me crash at your apartment and for you to get me passes to races, which I appreciate more than you will ever know. But I draw the line at a whole vacation. I donât want to seem like a freeloader who is using you, thatâs honestly the la-â
âOh my god will you just let me spoil you!â Lando had enough of your endless rambling. Your need to always try and decline his gifts or offerings until he convinces you that you are worthy of them drives him crazy. To Lando there isnât a person on Earth who deserves everything and more than you. And the fact that he can afford to give you anything youâd ever want tickles him pink. Hell if it was possible, heâd buy you the whole damn universe, even if you hadnât asked for it.
âI hate that you thinkâ that I would think youâre using me. Never in a million years would I think that. You mean a lot to me Y/N, truly. Youâre one the most important people in my life and you deserve everything and more that I give you. If I thought you were using me, I would not be asking you to go on vacation with me, believe me. I love having you around and with us not seeing each other like we used to, I figured a trip with just the two of us would be nice.â
He pauses for a moment as he scoots a little closer to you on the couch, your legs touching as the glow from the sun envelopes around you two. âNow please donât try and worm your way out of this trip. Iâve missed you so much and if you donât end up going I think youâre just gonna have to move in with me.â
You roll your eyes at his dramatics, but try not to let his heartfelt words get to your head. âHow would I even get the time off work again? Tell them âOh my famous F1 driver best friend wants to take me on a trip. Can I please have some more time off?â I donât think that would work.â
âWell I think it would work. Especially if you add in that Iâm super hot.â
The giggles that come from you lets you know that youâve drank your fair share of wine for the evening. âOh I donât think they would ever tell me no If I added that in.â
âIf they do say no then just quit and Iâll get you a job somehow with McLaren or Quadrant or something. I just really want to go on this trip with you.â
You arenât sure if it's the wine in your system or the fact that you want nothing more right now than to spend a week with Lando in some beautiful country, without a care in the world. But you ignore every responsible and logical part of you and tell him what he wants to hear.
âAlright. So where are we going then?â
His eyes light up and the smile that spreads across his face is comparable to that first win smile. âThatâs all up to you baby.â
Both of your hearts skip a beat at the term of endearment that came from him. His because he canât believe he let it slip and yours because you canât believe he called you that so easily. But you both ignore it and you focus on the one place youâd had on your mind since he mentioned taking a trip.
âItaly?â You suggest with a hopeful smile on your face.
He fills up his glass with the last of the fruit juice like wine and holds it up towards you, your glasses clinking together in a toast. âItaly it is then.â
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
Six days later an email notification pops up on your phone as youâre sitting in McLarenâs hospitality, talking with Landoâs Mom. You glance at who itâs from, not wanting to be rude and get on your phone mid conversation, but when you see your bossâs contact you canât help but open it. âIâm sorry, itâs from work.â Cisca waved you off, the conversation had only consisted of why they couldnât stock better snacks in hospitality, and she knew if work was emailing you on a Sunday it had to be important.
You had emailed them Monday night requesting the time off and when they hadnât responded by Friday you figured they were denying it. Or firing you for requesting more time off while currently being on a vacation. So to be getting this email on a Sunday had you worried, but as your eyes scanned the email you couldnât hold back the excitement. By some higher power unbestowed to you, they had granted you the time off.
âNever seen someone so excited over an email from work.â Cisca teased.
âYeah. Honestly thought I was getting fired, but they approved my time off for the Italy trip Lando and I are taking.â You leaned back in the chair, relief finally washing over you.
âJust the two of you?â Cisca had her suspicions about her sonâs feelings towards you and your feelings towards him. Sheâd secretly hoped the two of you would end up together the first time she met you years ago. She honestly thought you were his girlfriend that day and was surprised when he introduced you as his friend. Then she thought maybe he was hiding your relationship because she had never known her son to bring around a female friend like he had you.
You had attended family dinners, a couple holidays, races, and so many other things that just didnât seem normal to bring a friend to. They had become so accustomed to you being around that when he finally said that he was bringing home his girlfriend for everyone to meet and you didnât walk through the doorâ everyone was a little shell shocked. The relationship didnât last long and she had her theories as to why. To Cisca there was just no way the two of you didnât have feelings for eachother, she could see it plain as day, and it drove her crazy that the two of you didnât see it.
âYeah. At first I thought he was asking me to go to Ibiza again with everyone and you know me, itâs not my thing. But then he said we could go anywhere I wanted and that it was just me and him, so I chose Italy.â You gathered your things, eager to tell Lando the good news before race time. âYou raised a good man, Cisca. I couldnât ask for a better person in my life than him.â
Thereâs a smile on her face as she watches you talk about Lando, how your smile never falters and how that twinkle in your eye seems to get brighter the more you talk about him. âThank you honey. You had better go tell him, hadnât you?â
âIâll be back!â
Thankfully Landoâs not that hard to find, heâs in the garage looking over some data on the monitors with Will when you spot him. You stand back out of the way, waiting until heâs done, but as soon as he turns to walk away youâre racing towards him. Your arms flinging around him from behind and you can feel him tense under you, but when he hears your laughter his muscles relax.
âWhatâs got you in such a good mood?â Lando asks as he turns around to face you, his hands lingering on your hips.
âHmmm. It may have something to do with work approving my time off.â
That same smile from the other night finds its way onto his face and heâs pulling you into his arms, the two of you swaying back and forth as he nuzzles his head into your neck. âI knew they would approve it, it was meant to be.â His voice tickles your neck as he speaks causing a giggle to escape past your lips.
âCanât believe we get to spend a week together in Italy.â You state as he releases you from his grip.
âWouldnât have it any other way.â
You furrow your eyebrows at him, still not sure that he wouldnât rather be going to Ibiza with his friends.âYouâre sure youâre not gonna miss Ibiza?â
His fingers toy with the hem of your shirt as he speaksâ his blue eyes boring into yours. âIâd miss you more if I went.â And there isnât a single ounce of doubt in his words. If he ended up going to Ibiza without you, heâd be at a club wondering what you were doing. Eventually downing one too many shots to try and numb that annoying ache in his chest that forms when you arenât around. The one that even with you around this week, he had felt occasionally at the idea of you not being able to go to Italy.
The idea of him spending his summer break back in England had crossed his mind a couple times, especially if that meant he got to spend time with you. Luckily though fate was on his side today and he wouldnât have to deal with that ache for the foreseeable future.
You can feel the slight blush on your cheeks as you process what Lando had said to you and you pray he doesnât notice it. Just him simply saying heâd miss you if he went to Ibiza should not have you blushing, but here recently it seemed like that was all he could do was make you blush.
A familiar Australian accent hits your ears and around the corner comes Oscar, his hand clamping down on Landoâs shoulder as he comes up behind him. âY/N. Havenât seen you in awhile.â His bunny teeth showing as he flashes you a smile.
Your mouth barely opens to speak before Landoâs speaking for you. âI know. Sheâs been too busy working back in London to come see her favorite person.â
âIâm really such a horrible friend. Iâm so sorry Oscar, I really should make more time to see you. In fact, howâs Australia this time of year? I think I might come visit you.â The playful smirk on your face and Oscarâs laugh does nothing to tell Lando that youâre just joking and like a little kid heâs got his arms crossed across his chest with a slight pout on his face.
âUm. I think Iâm your favorite person Y/N. Plus you canât even go to Australia because we are going to Italy.â
Oscar and you canât help but laugh at Landoâs dramatics, but Oscar wants to tease Lando even further. He knows how his older teammate feels about you, even if Lando wonât give the idea any time of day when Oscar brings it up. Lando had confided in Oscar about his idea to take you on a trip, but Oscar didnât think heâd actually go through with it. âItaly? Whoâs all going? Maybe Lily and I could tag along?â
Landoâs eyes widen at Oscarâs suggestion, mainly because he knows youâd jump at any opportunity to spend time with Lily and this trip was meant to be just for the two of you. âItâs just gonna be me and Y/NâŚâ He trials off, trying to figure out how to nicely tell Oscar that he canât come.
âThere's a month between Singapore and Austin. We should all plan something for then.â You chime in. As much as you would love to spend time with Oscar and Lily, you really want to have this trip just be Lando and you.
Landoâs surprised at you turning down Oscarâs suggestion, but smiles and nods towards Oscar, agreeing with your idea. âYeah that sounds like a good idea.â Oscar states, a small smirk on his face as he eyes the two of you, fully knowing that youâll come back from Italy together. And if you donât Oscar thinks he may have to knock some sense into his teammate.
The driverâs parade was set to start soon, so you tell Oscar youâll see him around and give Lando a hug, knowing you wonât see him again until after the race. âIâll see you later, yeah? Be safe and good luck.â
Landoâs grip on you lingers, not wanting to fully let you go just yet, but when they get the final warning that itâs time to go he reluctantly frees you. A small frown on his face as he heads towards the track and you go back to hospitality.
The two McLaren drivers stood side by side on the flatbed of the moving truck, smiles on their faces as they waved at the fans in the grandstands. âNever seen two friends like you and Y/N go on a trip togetherâ alone.â Oscarâs voice is low, thereâs an interview going on to his left, but heâs loud enough that Lando can hear him.
Lando keeps looking straight forward as he speaks. âDonât know what you mean by that.â
âI think you fully know what I mean.â
Max, who was on the other side of Lando, had been eavesdropping the whole time, and couldnât help but put his two cents in. âIf youâre talking about what I think youâre talking about. I just want to say, do us all a favor and finally tell her how you feel.â
Lando shook his head at the two drivers. You two were just very close best friends, there wasnât anything he needed to admit to you. It was just a trip that two best friends were going on and there was nothing more to itâ right?
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
A week and a half later your plane touches down in Naples and even though the flight from London is only around three hours you want nothing more than to just get to the hotel and relax.
The Uber ride from the airport to the hotel thankfully doesnât take long and you have no issue with sitting down in the lobby of the hotel with all the luggage while Lando checks you two in. You do notice that itâs taking quite a long time for Lando to check in and as you glance up from your phone towards the reception desk you see him talking with the worker and showing her something on his phone. Then with a sigh and a shake of his head he turns on his heel back towards you.
âEverything alright?â You ask.
He slips his phone back into his pocket and grabs his suitcase. âI booked us a two bedroom suite and they told me that all they have available is a one bedroom. Even though I showed them the booking on my phone, someone is already in it. So, Iâll just take the couch and you can have the bed.â
This place was fancy, and Lando had undoubtedly paid a pretty penny for the two nights that you were staying here. You would have thought they would have comped the room or something for their mistake. But by the displeased look on his face it didnât seem they offered him anything but a sorry for the inconvenience.
Even with the hotel screwing up the room, the one you end up with is amazing and as you enter the room your jaw drops slightly at it. You set your bags down and explore the room further, taking in all the beautiful artwork on the walls and the natural light streaming in through the floor to ceiling windows. You enter a door to your left and itâs the bedroom, which is even better than the main room, mainly because of the huge balcony that overlooks the sea.
Thereâs a gentle breeze in the air as you lean against the railing, taking in the view and the hustle and bustle from the surrounding area.
âBeautiful isnât it?â Landoâs voice makes you jump, you were so lost in your own little world you didnât even hear him come out onto the balcony. You nod your head in agreement as he slots himself beside you, mimicking your actions of leaning on the railing. âAnd itâs not even the best part of our trip.â
âYou know you didnât have to get such a nice room, we are only in Naples for two days.â As much as you try not to feel guilty about him paying for all of this, you do.
âAnd what did I say a couple weeks ago?â
A groan emits from you as you remember his words to you in Monaco. âYou said to let you spoil me.â
âExactly. I just want you to enjoy yourself and stop worrying about how much everything costs. We are here to relax and have fun, which means figuring out what we want to do tonight.â
You ponder your endless options and all you really want to do is sit on this balcony and enjoy the view, but your stomach growling tells you maybe dinner would be a good idea first. âWe are in Italyâ how about getting some pizza and then just come back here and relax?â Lando agrees and while youâre freshening up he looks up good pizza places within walking distance.
You two are just about ready to leave when there's a knock on the door, followed by room service!
A confused look is shared between you two, but when Lando looks through the peephole there stands a worker with a room service cart. He opens the door and is greeted with a smile from the employee.
âFrom the hotel as an apology about the room.â The employee hands Lando an ice bucket with a bottle of champagne nestled in it. âHave a nice rest of your stay.â
Lando looks back at you with an amused look on his face as the guy quickly leaves, the wheels of the cart squeaking as he hurries down the hall. âWell, we have something to drink on the balcony later.â Lando states as he sets the bucket down on the coffee table.
âChampagne and pizza? No thanks.â You see thereâs a card attached to the bottle and as you open the envelope and read the words written, your cheeks turn scarlet.
âWhat does it say?â Lando questions, moving to stand behind you so he can read it too. His eyes scan the letter and he soon finds himself in the same state as you. He clears his throat as he steps back, suddenly feeling too close to you at the moment.
to the happy couple,
we are so deeply sorry about the mix up with rooms and we hope you can accept our apologies. weâve sent a bottle of the finest champagne that you can get in naples and have comped any room service you may order during your stay. as always if you need anything please donât hesitate to call the front desk and once again we sincerely apologize for our mistake. we hope you enjoy your stay here and the city of naples.
The letter isnât spoken about, actually what you two were addressed as isnât spoken about, but you both agree that their actions were nice. The walk to the pizza place is quiet, the both of you occasionally pointing out things that you think are interesting or pretty, but both of your minds are preoccupied with being mistaken for a couple. Anyone else would have laughed it off, but clearly not the two of you.
By the time youâre back at the hotel and sat on the balcony with the pizza and champagne your conversation had returned to normal. You teasing Lando about not even drinking the glass he had poured for himself and him complaining about you insisting that you get a pizza that has peppers on it.
âYou know what would make this evening even better?â The pizza is long gone and the two of you are sat admiring the painting in the sky left behind from the sun.
âSome pink moscato?â Thereâs a grin on his face as he says it. If thereâs one thing he knows you love, itâs a glass of pink moscato on a balcony with a view.
You try to hide the smile on your face as you glance over at him, but heâs caught you. âYou know me too well Norris.â
âShouldâve told that employee that we wanted a ten dollar bottle of wine instead of that champagne.â Lando jokes.
âThought you didnât like it? That it was too sweet?â
He shuffles slightly in his seat, fully knowing that youâd caught on to his facade. âI may have grown to love it.â He admits quietly.
Youâd known for a while, but hearing him say it was much more satisfying. âYeah. Kinda figured it out last year when you started drinking more of it than me.â
Nighttime draws near and once you start yawning, so does Lando, and after the fourth round of yawning Lando states that itâs time for bed. The subject the two of you hadnât discussed any further than what was said in the lobby earlier. The guilt started to eat at you as you brushed your teeth, heâd invited you and is paying for everything and he doesnât even get to sleep in a bed? What kind of friend were you?
Lando was making the couch up as you walked out of the bathroom and for this being a luxury hotel that couch looked stiff and seemed to be more for show than actual comfort. He already had a bad back and it looked like sleeping on that couch was going to have him trying to find a chiropractor tomorrow instead of sightseeing. âLan. You take the bed and Iâll sleep on the couch.â
He doesnât even look back at you, still occupied with trying to make the couch somewhat comfortable. âNo. Iâll be fine. You take the bed.â
âLando.â
âY/N.â
âLando, look at me.â You knew he wasnât going to budge with the whole couch thing, so you thought of the next best thing. The two of you sharing the bed. It was plenty big and truly it shouldnât be that big of a deal if you two shared it. You were grown adults and bestfriends, no one should have to sleep on the couch.
His focus tears away from the couch and over to you, whoâs already in bed and under the covers. âLook at how big this bed is.â Your body extends over to the other side trying to show him just how big the bed is. âJust sleep in the bed with me, there is plenty of room.â
Your offer takes him by surprise and he stills for a moment, heâd love nothing more than to climb into that bed right now, but a part of his brain is telling him not to. And heâs about ready to tell you no once again until he makes eye contact with you. Those damn eyes of yours could be used in interrogation rooms across the world, one look into them and heâs crumbling like a poorly built sandcastle. The gentle pat on the empty side of the bed is what flattens the sandcastle and heâs mumbling out an okay before sliding under the sheets next to you.
The two of you donât know what to do for a moment, both still and flat on your backs under the sheets, like if you moved an inch the gremlin under the bed was going to get you. But eventually Lando turns on his side, mumbling out a goodnight as he pulls the comforter closer to him. You take his actions as a sign for you to roll over too and you figured that falling asleep wouldnât be an issue after all the yawning earlier, but you were wrong. You tried counting sheep, tried laying on your back, tried anything you could think of to fall asleep and nothing worked. It wasnât like there was a major time difference between here and London, it was literally only an hour, so unfortunately jet lag could not be to blame.
Lando hadnât moved the whole time and you figured he fell asleep as soon as he turned over, but you were bored and going a little crazy because even though you were tired, you couldnât fall asleep. âLando.â You whispered, but got no response. âLando. Are you awake?â You whisper a little louder this time, but still no response. So with a defeated sigh you roll back over and shut your eyes, praying that this time you can go to sleep. But within a matter of seconds you feel the bed shift and Landoâs voice echoing through the room.
âIâm awake.â
You roll back overâ the two of you now facing each other. âWhy didnât you answer me a minute ago?â
âI was trying to go to sleep myself.â
âOh sorry. Iâll go out to the other room and watch some TV or something.â You barely move an inch before Landoâs got his fingers wrapped around your forearm, gently pulling you back towards him.
âNo, don't leave.â
You can feel your heartbeat quickening as you realize just how close the two of you are. The glow from the moon cascades through the balcony doors allowing you to make out the moles on his face and those pretty long eyelashes of his that make his already breathtaking eyes seem even more beautiful. Sometimes you think he has stars in his eyes from the way that they sparkle. And as the two of you lay here right now, you realize the only reason that the moonlight is flooding into the room is because sheâs looking for her lost stars that have found a home in Landoâs eyes.
âYou got any ideas on how to fall asleep? Iâve tried just about everything in the book.â For some reason you're whispering and you wonder if itâs from how close you are to Landoâs face or how suddenly nervous you are to be this close to Lando.
Heâs silent for a moment, the logical and sane part of him screaming at him to not even suggest what heâs been thinking about ever since climbing under these sheets. The mere idea of it being the thing that had prevented him from being fast asleep by now. But heâs got you at literal fingertips length and he thinks there may not be another opportunity like this again. Soâ he acts with his heart and not his brain.
âCome here.â Heâs moved onto his back with his arm outstretched towards you.
âHuh?â You know exactly what heâs insinuating, but you canât actually believe that he is.
âYou wanted an idea on how to fall asleep and this is my idea. Iâll get you to fall asleep in no time.
âYou think us cuddling is gonna get me to fall asleep?â You definitely hadnât wondered what it would be like to be wrapped up in Landoâs arms before. How it would feel to have his fingertips trance mindless patterns across your skin or have your head on his chest. He was your best friend, which meant those thoughts had never crossed your mindâ right?
He shrugs, trying to hide the nervousness in his demeanor, the mere thought of you denying him right now was enough to have him on the next flight back to Monaco in the morning. He should have never put himself in this situation, but god as soon as he climbed into this bed all he wanted to do was have you wrapped up in his arms.
It had consumed his brain, and then consumed it even more because why was he having this desire to have such a tender moment with his best friend? Though his brain stops spiraling when he feels the bed shift and youâre suddenly tucking yourself into his side, arm slung over his torso, and your head laying on his chest. The same chest that his heart is about ready to beat out of and he prays you canât hear how hard itâs working.
But as you both get settled and Landoâs heartbeat finally mellows out he realizes just how right this feels, like the two of you were matching puzzle pieces. Any other girl he had cuddled with before now seemed to feel wrong because as far as he was concerned, nothing felt better than this. It felt natural and easy and he found himself drawing absent minded patterns on your side where your shirt had bunched up.
Heâd spend the rest of his life here in this moment with you if he could. And when he hears your slight snores something short circuits in his brain and heâs pressing a kiss to the top of your head mumbling out goodnight before heâs out like a light too. The moonlight blanketing over the two of you, who right now look more like lovers than best friends.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
The next morning youâre already up and ready for the day by the time Lando wakes up and he tries to hide the disappointment of not waking up next to you, already missing the feeling of having you so close. A feeling though nice, he knew it was one that he probably shouldnât be feeling. He asks you if you slept well while heâs getting ready and you tell him yes, not going into very much detail, for your own sake and his.
The day is full of sightseeing and lots of walking, which is something that Lando likes to complain about. You visit Pompeii and a handful of other places for you and Lando to nerd out about and truly be tourists. You eat amazing food that Lando says his trainer will hate him for, but he justifies it with the excuse of being on vacation. Hundreds of pictures were taken, your phones already begging for more storage and it was only the first day of the trip. Lando even went as far as bringing an actual camera, stating that lando.jpg would be revived soon.
But in between the sightseeing, eating, and everything elseâ both of your brains immediately go back to the sleeping arrangements from last night. You both canât stop thinking about it, but no one brings it up, almost like itâs something you should be ashamed of. No one wants to admit how right it felt to be in eachothers arms last night or how both of you probably had the best sleep of your lives.
You didnât want to admit that when you woke up this morning to Lando spooning you, your stomach was doing flips over the realization that you had moved in the middle of the night and he had found his way back to you. So many thoughts and emotions running through your brains, yet you both think itâs better to just act like it's not a big deal.
Night falls once again and Lando crawls into bed next to you. Youâre both absolutely spent after the eventful day youâve had and Lando worries that you wonât need him to fall asleep, but his worries soon dissipate because youâre tucking yourself into his side as soon as heâs gotten himself comfortable. Youâre like a moth to a flameâ the consequences of these actions never even enter your mind as slowly feel yourself drifting off to sleep.
And when morning comes you donât run away when you feel Landoâs arms around you, even with the butterflies making an appearance again. You enjoy your moment alone, the sun shining in through the windows, the sound of the city already alive, and the way Lando looks as he sleeps. It's truly a beautiful morning.
He wakes up not too long after you and thereâs a funny feeling in his chest when he realizes that heâs gotten to wake up with you still in his arms. That you were the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes. It all just feels so natural and right, that once again no words are spoken about this very non-platonic thing that is happening between you two.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
âWeâve got a little bit a drive ahead of us today.â Lando states as he comes out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel. Water droplets are scattered across his tan skin, his damp curls falling slightly onto his forehead. Youâre trying not to stare, but good lord how could anyone not.
âItâs only like an hour.â You're still sitting in bed, propped up against the headboard as you now watch him rummage through his suitcase.
He holds up a shirt and shorts, silently asking for your opinion. You give him a nod of approval and he heads back to the bathroom to get dressed, but he leaves the door slightly cracked so he can still talk to you. âYeah it was an hour. Iâve canceled the driver and made some new plans for today.â
âNew plans?â You raise your voice slightly so he can hear you.
âItâs a surprise.â He peeks his head around the slightly open doorâ a mischievous smile painted across his face, before disappearing behind it once more. âSo you had better start getting ready.â He commands as the door fully opens, revealing a fully dressed Lando.
A few short moments later a domestic scene plays out in the bathroom mirror. The double sinks both occupied, various hair products, makeup, and other random items are scattered across the counter. Youâre watching Lando through the mirror as he tries to wrangle the mop of curls on his head, but everytime you look away heâs watching you brush your teeth or do your skincare. And the occasional times your eyes do meet in the mirror youâre both like little kids, eyes immediately darting away with smiles on your faces and little giggles echoing through the bathroom.
âYou gonna tell me what the surprise is?â Patience had never been your strong suit and thus knowing about surprises was like a form of torture to you.
âIf I told you it wouldnât be a surprise now would it?â Heâs still screwing with his hair, but heâs looking at you through the mirror.
âOh come on, just tell me. Pretty pretty please?â Youâve come up behind him, your chin resting on his shoulder as you flash your best puppy dog eyes at him through the mirror. And for a split second Lando almost cracksâ those puppy dog eyes working on him better than you would have ever thought.
âThe faster we pack everything up, the faster you get the surprise.â Heâs shocked his words come out smoothly, his brain still foggy from your pretty eyes and close contact.
Ten minutes later youâre walking out of the elevator and into the hotel lobby, where Lando tells you to wait while he goes outside for a moment. You assume the surprise is outside and so you try to peek and see whatâs out there, but heâs coming back in before you can get a good look.
âAlright letâs go.â
You donât see anything that you would consider surprise worthy as you walk out the doors, but then Lando leads you towards the cars parked outside the hotel and stops in front of a vintage yellow Ferrari. Your eyes dart back and forth between Lando and the car, unsure if he was just stopping to admire it or if you were going to be riding in it. He answers your unasked question by opening the passenger side door, motioning for you to get in.
âIs this the surprise? Where did you even get this car from?â Your eyes widening over the car itself and the fact that heâd gone through the trouble of even finding the car.
âItâs part of the surprise-â Heâs got a smirk on his face as he speaks âand I have my connections.â He motions once again for you to get into the car and this time you donât oblige. The leather seat soft under your legs as you sit down, the car was surely close to 60 years old, yet still looked brand new.
Lando puts the luggage in the trunk while you're examining all of the carâs little quirks and details while you wait.
âOk, you ready?â Lando asks as he gets in the driver's seat.
âGonna tell me the other part of the surprise?â
He sighs, he wanted you to figure it out on your own, but you were so persistent sometimes. âYou know how youâve always talked about wanting to drive along the coast of Italy?â You nod, a smile already forming on your face as you realize what heâs planned for you. âWell, instead of just taking the straight shot over, weâre gonna take the long way all along the Amalfi coast. And I figured it was only fitting that we do it in a Ferrari, considering we are in Italy after all.â
You canât wipe the smile off your face as you stare at Lando from the passenger seat. Sometimes you wondered if he was even listening to you when you spoke, but then he pulls stuff like this and you know that heâs always listeningâ remembering things that you care about or like. âGod, I donât deserve you.â
Thankfully the car is still parked because youâre pulling Lando into a bone crushing hug, your cheek smushed up against the side of his head, a giggle emitting from him as he tries to hug you back.
âWhen you told me your work approved the time off, I knew for sure that this was one thing that I wanted to make happen. That same night I was online trying to find a car to rent for the day, but then I saw this one for saleâŚâ His words trail off and your jaw drops at the realization, but in all reality you know itâs a very Lando thing to do.
âAnd now weâre sitting in your newest baby?â
Heâs got a sheepish look on his face as he speaks. âAs soon as I saw it I knew it was the perfect car for this. Plus itâs the ultimate vacation souvenir!â
âYouâre crazy.â He actually couldnât be more perfect.
âYeah, but you love me.â He teases as he starts the engine.
âUnfortunately.â
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
The long winding road along the coast provided scenery that was beyond your wildest dreams. It was serene and picturesqueâ like something straight out of a movie. The bright blue water on one side of the road and the white stone mountains on the other. The various tunnels that somehow had even more breathtaking views on the other side of them. The handful of towns that you had to drive through, each of them more charming than the last, you only wished you had enough time to stay a week in all of them.
As simple as this was, you would have been more than content with this trip if you went home tomorrow, not that you wanted to, it was just that sometimes the simple things in life meant more than anything lavish to you. You werenât hard to please, all you needed was Lando singing along to some song on the radio, beautiful scenery, and the wind blowing in your hair for you to be the happiest girl in the world right now.
The whole trip your attention was divided between the coastal beauty and the beauty in the driver's seat. You couldnât help but glance over ever so often at Lando, especially when youâd hear him start to sing along to a song. He just looked so ethereal sitting next to you, one hand on the steering wheelâ the other resting between you two.
There was a moment where you felt the sudden urge to reach out and intertwine your fingers with his, a moment of insanity youâd thought. It surely had nothing to do with how sunkissed he looked from only being in the sun one day, or how the wind had made his curls the perfect amount of messy, or how youâd catch him looking over at you with a smile on his face.
If only you knew that Lando had been fighting the urge to reach out and grab your hand too. Heâd never seen you so ecstatic over something as simple as going for a drive, but heâd drive this car till he ran out of road or gas, whichever came first, just to see that smile of yours. The way your eyes sparkled in the sunlight and how you giggled at his singing was just an added bonus, but all of them made his chest feel funny. Heâd been around the world more times than he could count, seen so many breathtaking places, but right now none of those places compared to the beauty that was sitting next to him in this car.
Youâre in your own little world so much that you donât even realize youâve made it to your destination until Landoâs putting the car in park in front of a very luxurious looking villa. âWeâve arrived.â Lando states in a sing-song voice.
âIs this when you tell me Max and everyone else are actually coming too?â You question, flabbergasted over the size of the house. And you can tell what heâs thinking just by his facial expression. âLando this place is huge just for the two of us.â
He rolls his eyes before getting out of the car to get luggage. âItâs actually a lot smaller than you think.â
When you step foot into the two story villa it immediately has that Mediterranean coast charm with intricate tile floors, artwork that adorns the walls, and windows with the most gorgeous viewsâ needles to say youâre in love.
Then you take in just how big the place is with itâs one too many bedrooms and bathrooms and various other rooms that you probably wonât even use. Landoâs words echo in your head as you explore the house some more, and thereâs nothing small about this place at all. âYouâre such a liar Lan.â Your words are playful as you walk through one of the many french doors in the house that leads out to the back.
âLie? I would nev-â
âOh my god!â Heâs cut off by you realizing that the backyard of this villa is nothing shy of paradise. A massive pergola covered part of the back of the house with vibrant bougainvillea lining the top and hanging down the sides. Various other flowers and plants are scattered strategically around the area. Under the pergola there's an outdoor kitchen and a large glass dining table, clearly meant to host a group of people, not two. Further out thereâs a pool with sunbeds lined down one side of itâ a poolside bar on the other.
All of these things are great, but the real show stopper is the view that this place has. From the front of the house you canât really tell just how close you are to the water, but from out back itâs a completely different view. Thereâs a separate sitting area slightly further out from the pool. Itâs got a little pergola of its own with couches and chairs and one of those fancy rock fire pits and that is where you get the best view.
Itâs like something out of a nature documentaryâ itâs so perfect that it almost seems fake. The sea is so close that you can hear the waves crashing against the rocks and itâs just endless bright blue water for days. You thought the view in Naples was pretty, but this was breathtaking.
âKnew youâd love this place.â Lando states as he comes up beside you, acting like he hadnât been lingering behind you the whole time, admiring the view (you) from afar.
It was true though, Lando knew as soon as he saw this place online that it was the one. It didnât matter that he paid an astronomical amount for it or that the house was way too big for just the two of you. All it took was for him to see the view to know youâd be the happiest girl in the world here.
He could picture you two sitting out here in the evening, watching the sun set over the coast, undoubtedly with a bottle of pink moscato. Youâd end up drinking one too many glasses and your cheeks would get red and youâd get the giggles.
As Lando stood hereâ eyes never leaving the beautiful scene in front of him. He canât help but feel that funny feeling in his chest over how radiant and happy you look. And he thinks that if this house was for sale heâd buy it in a heartbeat, if that meant he got to see you like this all the time.
A smile finds its way onto your face as you glance over at the guy you call your best friend. âYou werenât lying when you said you were gonna spoil me, huh?â You gently nudge him with your elbow, your smile growing even bigger at his response.
âOnly the best for my favorite person.â His smile is equally as big as you lean your head on his shoulder and in that moment he thinks that maybe the reserve driver could just finish out the season and he could just stay here with you.
That night as you both head to your rooms thereâs an obvious tension in the air. Youâre both slowly making your ascent up the stairs and lingering in the hall, trying to milk every last second until you inevitably have to go into your separate rooms.
After so long though, youâre the first to cave as your hand reaches for the doorknob. Your door creaks open and youâre mumbling out goodnight lan, iâll see you in the morning before entering the room. Although you donât close the door behind you and Lando takes that as an invitation to linger in your doorway. He doesnât need to speak for you to know heâs there, you can feel his presence, and subconsciously youâve left that door open for him.
âGoodnight Y/N.â Youâve got your back turned to him as you're digging through your suitcase for pajamas, but you can hear the slight grin he has on his face as he speaks.
The sight of Lando as you turn around has butterflies erupting in your stomach and it makes you feel weird to be feeling those things about your best friend. Heâs leaned up against the door frame with his arms crossed over his chest and that grin that youâd sensed him having was still on his face as he looked at you. Your eyes scanned over him, focusing on little details like his hair still being wind tousled and how the tops of his cheeks were slightly burnt from the car ride today.
And for someone who claimed to not need a ton of sleepâ he looked so sleepy as the two of you locked eyes. Those big blue eyes slowly blinking and drooping ever so slightly as his head now too rested against the door frame. He still donned the hoodie that you teased him about putting on earlier after his claims of it being chilly once the sun set, only adding to the sleepy look he had going on right now.
Someone had never looked so cozy and you wanted nothing more than to be wrapped up in his arms, but that wasnât going to happen tonight. You will tell him goodnight again and heâll close the door behind him before shuffling over to his room. Your mind will be preoccupied with him as you get ready for bed, the image of him in your doorway forever burned into your mind as you brush your teeth. As you crawl into bed you wonât think about how cold the sheets feel or how you want to be cuddled up to your best friend. You wonât think about how itâs been two hours that youâve laid here and sleep has yet to greet you. And you certainly wonât think about how youâd be fast asleep right now if Lando was beside you.
But unfortunately you do think about all those things and youâve exhausted every resource to try and distract you from it. It was different at the hotel when there was only one bed, but now with multiple bedrooms to choose from there was no reason for the two of you to sleep in the same bed. Lines were already blurring between you two without either of you knowing it and if you chose to go seek solace with Lando then those lines would blur even more.
But you didnât know that your actions would eventually have consequences and seconds later youâre throwing the covers off of you with only one destination in mindâ Landoâs room. The journey though, is short lived because as soon as you open your door youâre met with a wide eyed Lando, his fist frozen in the air like he was getting ready to knock on your door.
The frozen fist moves to rubbing the back of his neck as he speaks to you. âSorry, was coming to see if you were still awake.â
âI was coming to see if you were up too.â Heâs still got that hoodie on from earlier, but you noticed heâd changed out his shorts for boxers. His hair was even more messy and youâd wondered if he had even fallen asleep yet. âCouldnât sleep either?â
Lando shrugs. âNot reallyâ kept tossing and turning.â He acts like the reason he canât go to sleep isnât right in front of him as he rests his head on the familiar door frame.
âYeah I can tell by your hair.â You tease. He just gives you a half assed smile and when he doesnât tease you back thatâs when you realize just how tired he is. âYou want to watch some TV or something? â
He shakes his head no. The only thing he wants to do is go to sleep, but how can he when youâre not next to him? It was embarrassing to admit that only after two nights of sharing the same bed that he couldnât sleep on his own, but here he was. His big bed felt too empty and he realized that even if he slept in a twin sized bed it would still feel empty without you next to him.
Not to mention heâd found comfort in you being his personal heater at night. It was no secret that Lando ran cold, often seen sporting a jacket during race weekends while his teammate was in shorts. So with his personal heater gone, heâd resorted to wearing a hoodie to bed, which didnât come close to holding a candle to you.
When he finally worked up the courage to get up and go to your room he was pleasantly surprised to find you up too and facing the same problem as him. A little sliver of him hoping that it was the exact same problem and that you couldnât sleep without him.
For a split second you caught his eyes looking past you and towards your bed. He couldnât have made it any more obvious, but if was actually hinting at what you thought he was hinting at, then you werenât going to pass up on the opportunity. It wasnât a coincidence that he had come to your door and that you both had trouble sleeping in separate beds. So, you act on impulse and tell him come on just sleep in here tonight and like a little kid whoâs gotten scared of the thunder at night heâs crawling into your bed in an instant.
Itâs like you two are magnetsâ immediately finding your way to each other under the sheets and it doesnât take long for the both of you to finally fall asleep. And some time in the middle of the night Lando had shed his hoodie, no longer needing it with you pressed against him. When you two wake in the morning with the sun streaming through the windows and sleepy smiles plastered on your faces, thereâs an unspoken agreement that even with the plethora of beds in this house, you two would be sleeping in the same one every night.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
Lando and you were best friends, nothing more. Nevermind the sharing a bed every night or the longing glances or the sometimes suggestive thoughts you had about him. So maybe your friendship wasnât practical or normal, but there was nothing romantic going on between you two. It was something you had drilled into your head for some time now. Youâd try to ignore the way your heart would speed up when youâd catch him looking at you or the way he always has to have physical contact with you. And any other crazy thoughts that youâd speculated about had always been pushed aside rather quickly. He was your best friend after all and once again nothing more.
Though over the course of the week youâd found yourself having a hard time in pushing aside those non platonic thoughts about Lando. There were instances you two had found yourselves in that you just couldnât ignore.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
âWhatâs the plan for today?â You ask as the two of you are sitting outside the cutest little restaurant, enjoying brunch.
Lando finishes the last little bit of his eggs before answering you. âWell nothing that involves you getting behind a motor vehicle with the way youâve been downing those bellinis.â You roll your eyes at his dramatics. Yes, youâd had your fair share of bellinis, but they were so damn good and there really wasnât that much alcohol in them for it to be an issue. âHow about we just see where the day takes us?â
âWell I already had the idea of renting jet skis in my head, but I guess weâll do what you suggested.â You joke.
Now Landoâs the one to roll his eyes at you as he flags down the waiter for the check. He doesnât even look at it when itâs brought over, he just hands his card over like itâs nothing. Itâs something that you still arenât used to him doing even after knowing him for so long and youâre sure heâs gotten ripped off more times than he could imagine.
He quickly signs for it once the waiter comes back and with his card back in his wallet youâre free to go. Except when you stand up all those bellinis hit you and youâre a little unsteady on your feet, something that Lando clocks immediately. You arenât drunk, just buzzed, but Lando isnât going to let you live this down. âYou wanted to rent jet skis huh?â He teases as he wraps an arm around your waist to steady you.
âThink we still could to be honest.â Youâre confident in your ability to walk on your own, but Lando insists on keeping his hold on you.
âWell I donât want to waste a day at the hospital, so letâs just look around at the shops.â
Youâd passed them on your way to brunch and Lando had promised youâd come back to them. They were cute little stores, each one specializing in certain things. You took your time in each one, feeling the silky material of some of the dresses, admiring the leather detailing on the handbags, and gawking at the dazzling jewelry in the displays. Everything was quite luxurious and your eyes couldnât help but linger on a certain bag and bracelet, but the price tags were all you had to see to know they werenât coming home with you.
Lando had been watching you the whole time, fully prepared to be your bag boy and was ready to pull out his wallet whenever heâd see you pick something up. But much to his disappointment, all you did was look and after going through all the stores you left empty handed. âYou didnât see anything you wanted?â Lando asks as you continue down the street.
You simply shrug your shoulders at him. âNothing that I couldnât live without.â He doesnât press the matter anymore, fully knowing that heâd be coming back sometime this week to get you that bag and bracelet that you kept circling back to.
The streets are charming and bright. Itâs a place that you canât help but feel alive in, especially as the summer sun beats down on you, but the light breeze coming in off the sea makes it bearable. Your buzz was long gone, but Lando still insisted that you link your arm with his as you stroll down the streetsâ just in case. You donât oblige to his request, enjoying the feeling of holding onto his solid bicep as the sound of him slightly humming the song that was playing at brunch fills your ears.
A sense of peacefulness washes over you and itâs at this moment that you donât feel like youâre on the arm of the famous Formula 1 driver Lando Norris. He doesnât have a million cameras on him or people flocking to him for an autograph. Itâs just you and your best friend Landoâ the boy who was gagging when you teased the idea of ordering fish at dinner last night or who you laid in bed with this morning, watching dumb Tiktoks until you were both in tears laughing. It was nice for once, to just have Lando.
Youâre just about ready to circle back to the villa when you hear a woman shouting in Italian from down the street. Youâre not anywhere near fluent, but you recognize some basic words and what youâve heard has you pulling Lando towards the voice.
Fior! Bei Fiori!
At the end of the street there stood the lady, who had a cart of the most vibrant fresh flowers. When she spotted the two of you approaching, a smile painted itself across her face. âI think your pretty girl deserves some flowers, donât you?â
The corners of your mouth turn upwards and a smile is painted across your face. You can feel your cheeks getting warm at her statement, at the implication that you were Landoâs, but itâs his response that makes them comparable to the roses found on the cart.
Lando feels his chest get tight over the lady assuming the two of you were together. Itâs nothing new, for people to assume that heâs with a girl just because heâs seen with one. Though for some reason when someone says it about you, it gets a reaction out of him. Heâs grinning as he looks at you and then back to the sweet old lady. âYouâre right, my pretty girl does deserve some flowers.â
The butterflies that erupted in your stomach at his words were embarrassing and not the appropriate reaction to be having over your best friend, but his comment wasnât very platonic either. Youâre blushing and grinning, probably very easily comparable to a school girl at the moment. Heâs got a smug look on his face as he hands you of course the biggest bouquet the lady had. Itâs truly a beautiful bouquet and it smells divine, it had anything you could have gotten at the shops beaten by a mile.
As you head back towards the villa you canât wipe the smile off your face and you canât stop thinking about my pretty girl. The words shamelessly repeating over and over again in your head. âSo you think Iâm pretty huh?â You tease.
Now Landoâs the one to blush and he hopes you just think itâs just from the heat and sun as you look at him. âOf course I do. Iâd have to be blind to not think so.â Heâs sincere with his words, he truly thinks youâre one of the most breathtaking women heâs ever metâ intellectually and physically.
You lean your head on his arm, the same one youâve still wrapped yourself around. âYou sure know how to swoon 'em.â
âYouâre my best friend. I wouldnât lie to you.â
And for the first time, for both of you, it feels weird and almost stings to hear the word best friend said out loud. Because deep down you know youâre way more than that.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
Although you werenât that much of a party girl you didnât mind going out every once in a while. So when Lando suggested going out to one of the bars tonight it didnât seem like a bad idea. Youâd done your fair share of relaxing and to you that meant a night out deserved to be had.
With a final spritz of your perfume youâre ready to go and as you looked in the mirror one last time you couldnât help but think damn, I look good. You found Lando waiting for you in the foyer, his head lifting up from his phone at the sound of your heels clicking down the stairs. âMight want to close your mouth before you attract flies Lan.â He hadnât even realized he was in that much of a trance until you said something, he could feel his cheeks getting warm at getting caught.
You hook your arm with his as he leads you out the front door. âSorry, you just look unreal tonight.â
âWell you donât look too bad yourself.â Heâd chosen his tried and true white button up, leaving the first few buttons undone, which revealed even more of his gorgeous tanned skin. How someone could make something as simple as a white button up shirt look so good was beyond you, but it was clearly something he was skilled at.
The bar you end up at is relatively small and you realize it must be the most popular one with how packed it is. Itâs on the coast and thereâs a gorgeous outdoor area that you are immediately drawn to, mainly because thereâs slightly less people out here. Itâs still a good time though and the people are somehow even more rowdy out here and you wonder if itâs the fresh air.
Youâve danced, drank, laughed, talked, everything you could think of on a night out. It's been nice, especially doing it all with Lando, who somehow through the course of the night has undone more buttons on his shirt and you think he might as well just undo them all. Itâs clearly getting late from how the crowd is slowly starting to thin out, but you two are still having a ball, and you figure youâll stay till they kick you out.
Landoâs gone inside to get you both another drink, which he easily could have gotten from the bartender out here, but he claimed that the guy didnât know what he was doing. While you wait you venture off to a far corner of the patio thatâs somewhat empty. Thereâs a couple people sitting in chairs sharing a cigarette, but other than that youâre alone. Even in the dark the view is amazing and as you lean on the railing a nice breeze comes in off the water. Itâs relaxing and nice, especially when youâre that sticky kind of sweaty and a little more drunk than you realize.
âAbsolutely beautiful.â You jump at the unfamiliar, yet familiar voice. It had been a minute since youâd heard another British accent besides Landoâs. When you turn around to put a face to the voice you arenât expecting to see such a gorgeous man standing there. Heâs really the whole packageâ stunning blue eyes, pretty smile, fluffy light brown hair, nice facial hair.
âUh- yeah it is.â You assumed he was talking about the view.
âCan I join you?â
Heâs cute and you wouldnât mind some company, so you tell him yes.
âWhereâd your boyfriend run off to?â He asks as he nurses his Corona.
âHeâs not my boyfriend, but Iâm not wrong in assuming you know who he is, right?â This guy is in his twenties and British, if he didnât know who Lando was then he had to be living under a rock.
He takes a swig of his beer before responding. âI know who he is.â
You scoff, there was a big possibility that he was using you to get to meet Lando, it was something youâd dealt with many times before. Guys showing interest in you only in hopes of becoming Landoâs friend or even worse girls who would befriend you only to try and get with Lando. You werenât some step on the ladder that led to Lando, you were your own person with feelings and a life, who deserved to have people like you for you, not who you knew.
Maybe itâs the alcohol or maybe itâs the fact that youâre done being led on by people, but either way you confront the guy about it. âAre you using me to get to him?â
You hear him laugh a little and it lights a fire in you, but his words extinguish it before it gets out of control. âI was brave enough to come over here and willingly flirt with you before I even knew if he was your boyfriend or not. If I was trying to use you to get to him, I donât think that would be a good plan. Which now that I know youâre not his girlfriend, kinda makes me think heâs an idiot. How could he have a girl like you in his life and not be madly in love with you?â
Your brain is fuzzy as youâre trying to process what heâs said. âSorry wait- you were flirting with me?â
Heâs got a cheeky grin on his face and he lets out a chuckle at your cluelessness. âWhen I said âabsolutely beautifulâ I wasnât talking about the view.â
âOh.â Youâd thought it was kind of weird for him to just randomly say that about the view, but for it to be aimed towards you was the last thing you had thought of. âWell, flirt all you want then.â
Not only did this place have one bartender that was incompetent, it seemed like all of them were. Lando had waited for what seemed like ages for a beer and a vodka cranberry. It wasnât even that busy at the bar for it to be taking so long and at one point he contemplated just going behind the bar and doing it himself. By the time he finally got them he was surprised you hadnât come looking for him, but when he made his way out onto the patio he saw exactly why you hadnât.
Over in the corner Lando sees you doubled over laughing with some guy as he watches from afar. His grip on the glasses gets tighter as he sees you place your hand on the guy's arm. The tightness in his chest increases the longer he stands here and watches. It bothers him more than he cares to admitâ to see you with some random guy. To hear that laugh of yours and him not being the source of it is driving him crazy. But what really sends him over the edge is when the guy tucks a stray strand of hair behind your ear and without a second thought heâs storming over there.
Lando tries to play it cool as he approaches and heâs glad heâs got these drinks to use as an excuse. Your mid conversation when Lando interrupts, but he doesnât care one bit. âHereâs your drink.â He says as he pushes the slightly watered down glass towards you.
âOh thanks Lan.â You flash him a smile, but his face is emotionless and the fun light hearted atmosphere has suddenly turned awkward. For some reason you feel like youâve been caught doing something you shouldnât have. âUm, Lando this is-â You remember at that moment that you hadnât even asked the guy his name, which to you makes this even more awkward.
âHarry.â
âRight. Lando, this is Harry.â You motion between the two men. âHarry, this is Lando.â
Harry extends a hand out to Lando and they very awkwardly shake hands. âNice to meet you mate.â
Lando only nods his head at him before turning his focus back to you. âI think we should get going, they are gonna close soon.â
You think heâs joking, considering heâd waited all that time to get these drinks, and now he suddenly wants to leave. âI just got my drink, can we at least stay until I finish it?â It also feels rude to just abruptly leave in the middle of the conversation that you were enjoying with Harry. But Lando doesnât know how to hide his emotions very well and by the look on his face you know heâs being serious.
âWell you can stay, but Iâm leaving.â He knows he shouldnât leave you alone with some guy you just met, but god he doesnât think he can stand here and watch you flirt with him anymore than he already has. So, without hearing your response he starts making his way towards the exit.
A regretful look washes across your face as you look at Harry. âThat was so rude of him, Iâm so sorry. I donât know whatâs up with him, he never acts like that.â You take a big swig of your drink, fully knowing dealing with Lando is gonna be a pain. âIt was really nice talking to you, but I better go hunt him down.â
He shrugs, clearly not as upset over this whole situation as Lando or you are. âNo biggie, Iâm sure weâll see each other around. Itâs a small place.â You bid him goodbye, but you donât get very far before heâs hollering. âCan I at least get your Instagram?â Which has you coming back and quickly exchanging usernames before you're off again to find Lando.
You run into him in the bar and it looks like he was coming back out towards the patio. A look of relief washes over him when he sees you and heâs leading you away from the loud music and out the front exit before either of you can say anything. Only once the bass of the music is a faint sound in the distance does Lando speak up. âIâm sorry. I shouldnât have left you alone with that guy. I was coming back in when you found me.â
âI appreciate you looking out for me, but you were kinda rude to him for no reason.â
Guess you were diving in head first with this.
Lando stops walking and turns to face you, a confused look on his face. âI wasnât being rude.â
âYes you were. We were having a conversation and you just butted in and demanded we leave. Not to mention you wouldnât even speak to him. He was nice, you would have liked him if you gave him the time of day.â
âYou barely know the guy, you talked to him for what ten-fifteen minutes? I just didnât have a good feeling about him.â
You couldnât help but roll your eyes at his dumb excuse. He shook the guy's hand and didnât get a good feeling about him? Bullshit. âWell if you didnât have a good feeling about him then whyâd you leave me with him?â Heâd started to walk again, but stopped dead in his tracks at your words, spinning on his heel to face you once again.
âI already told you I regretted leaving you. I just had to get out of there for a second.â
âWhy?â You were being adamant, your arms crossed across your chest as you waited for his answer.
He knew exactly why, but he couldnât tell you that, he hadnât even fully accepted it himself. âI donât know Y/N.â
Youâre getting frustrated with him and these damn heels that you chose to wear are not making your mood any better. âThereâs a reason for everything, Lando. How would you like it if I acted like you did tonight with a girl you were talking to? Youâd be livid.â
He completely ignores your accusation and turns the conversation in another direction. It had been itching at him to know if you were just being nice or if you were actually interested in the guy, so he plucked up the courage to ask. âSo you were flirting with him?â
The look on your face is one of pure confusion, but your tone is nothing but shitty. âIâm not sure how you jumped to that conclusion from what I said or why itâs really any of your concern, but yeah it was just some harmless flirting. Iâm sorry for having a little fun!â You were thankful that it was late enough for the street to be relatively empty, the last thing that needed to happen was pictures or a video getting out of you two arguing. You were sure there were already rumors about you two being on vacation together, you could only imagine how this would be misconstrued.
Hearing that his best friend was potentially interested in someone else had his head spinning and he could no longer blame his reactions on the alcohol. He couldnât lie to himself anymore, ignore the way his heart raced when he looked at you. Or how he loved hearing that old lady call you his girl the other day.
It had been building upâ festering almost this whole week and maybe subconsciously he wanted to go on this trip with you to see if there was some truth to what everyone had teased him about. He just didnât think it would actually be true. Or that at two in the morning on a dimly lit street in Italy, during an argument, he would finally accept that he was in love with you.
But even with him realizing heâs in love with you, that doesnât stop him from being an absolute idiot. âHe was probably just using you to get to me.â Lando immediately regrets what he said as soon as it comes out of his mouth. He knows that's a sore subject for you and the look of hurt on your face makes his stomach churn.
âNow youâre just being mean.â Youâre sure itâs a mixture of things that are contributing to the salty tears welling up in your eyes at the moment, but itâs Landoâs comment that actually makes them fall. Youâre storming off before he can say anything, wishing you would have just stayed at the bar with Harry.
Lando knows heâs an idiot, but he also knows heâs the one who lit the match, which means heâs gotta be the one to put it out. âY/N come on. Iâm sorry. I know I shouldnât have said that.â He catches up with you rather quickly, your heels slowing you down.
âJust leave me be Lando.â
âY/N. Stop walking for just a minute.â Heâs grabbing at your arm, trying to halt your movement.
You stop and face him and for what itâs worth he does look sorry, but that doesnât change how you feel. âWhat? You want to poke fun at me some more?â
âNo I-â
âYou know I was just having a little harmless fun with that guy, like you said I talked to him for what? Fifteen minutes? Nothing was going to come out of it. But is it really that far-fetched of an idea for a guy to actually be interested in me just for me? Am I that undesirable and unlovable for it to seem like a reality? Or was he like everyone else whoâs used me and threw me away as soon as they got their five minutes of the almighty Lando Norris experience?â
The tears that slide down your cheeks are a mixture of anger and embarrassment and maybe you were being a little dramatic. Perhaps the multiple drinks youâd consumed werenât helping either, but when the person you care about the most says something like that, something youâd confided in him about, it hurts.
Lando feels his heart break to hear you talk about yourself like that. All he wants to do is to scream out that youâre not undesirable or unlovable. Heâs wanted you and loved you for some time now, the moment it started heâs not sure, but he knows it didnât happen overnight. Itâs always been thereâ he was just too blind to see it.
Heâs not entirely sure on how to make this right, he knows he was an ass, but he also knows he canât take back whatâs been said. The worst part is that he knows exactly how you feel and somehow he still thought that was a good thing to throw in your faceâ all because he was jealous. He could deal with people trying to use him, heâd developed a sixth sense for them and never let it get too far, but you were too kind. Your big heart and trusting of others had gotten you burned one too many times and it hurt Lando even more to know that all that had happened because of him.
âI should have never said that to you. I know first hand how it feels to have people use me and the only reason youâve had to deal with that is because of me. Iâm so fucking sorry.â
Your sniffles fill the night air as you try to calm yourself down. While people used you to get to Lando, at least they didnât want to be your friend to leech off your fame. Use you for your money and generosity, expecting paddock passes and some lavish lifestyle. People saw Lando as an object rather than a person more times than not. While your feelings were valid and Lando was still an ass for saying that, you realized to be in his shoes was worse. So, you wipe away your tears and accept his apology indirectly. âThink weâve only got each other at this point.â
His voice is soft as he approaches you, his hand reaching up to brush a stray piece of hair out of your face. âDonât think I need anyone else but you.â
The tender moment has you turning to putty in his handsâ the argument pushed to the back of your mind. His hand moves to cup your face and his tumb brushes gently across your cheek. You feel like time has frozen in this moment and for a split second you swear he looks at your lips, like heâs going to kiss you. The fact that this is your best friend is no concern to you at the moment. Then the moment between you two is ruined just as fast as it began, the sound of a very loud and drunk group of people leaving the bar up the street brings you both back to reality.
You back away from each other slowly, like you werenât sure exactly what had just almost happened. Youâd already resorted to blaming it on both of your emotions still running wild and the alcohol still coursing through your veins. The group of people are getting closer, their obnoxious singing getting louder as each second passes. They might not even know who Lando is, but you arenât in the mood to wait around and find out, the last thing you want to deal with right now is drunk fans. âWeâve had too much to drink, my head and feet hurt. Letâs go home.â You grumble as you begin the trek home once again, your feet aching more and more with each step.
Lando stops for a moment and kicks off his shoes, he couldnât let you walk in pain the whole way home. Especially after the pain he had caused moments ago. âHere put these on, your feet are killing you.â He hands you the white sneakers before squatting down in front of you to help you get your heels off.
Your feet already thank you as you slip on the oversized shoes that clomp on the stone street. And like a magnet you find yourself wrapping your arm around his as you walk down the street. Youâre sure you two are a sightâyou in shoes that are way too big and Lando only in socks as he holds your heels for you.
âYou know youâre still an ass.â You tell him as you lean your head on his shoulder.
âI know.â
âYou know you arenât unloveable.â He hopes you know heâs being sincere, your words still replaying in his mind as you walk.
âI know.â
By the time you make it back to the villa youâre both exhausted. The alcohol, the argument, that moment between you two, the walk homeâ you were sure tomorrow morning would be a rough one. There arenât many words spoken as you get ready for bed and as you slide under the covers next to Lando you canât shake something from your mind from tonight, and it wasnât the argument.
It was the fact that during the whole time you were chatting with Harry, you couldnât help but compare him to Lando. There wasnât the same sparkle in his eye like Lando, his smile wasnât the same, his laugh. It seemed like everything that you noticed about this guy came second best to Lando. Sure you were having fun and he was nice, but not once had the thought of Lando slipped your mind. And even right now, with Lando next to you, youâre still somehow thinking about him.
It didnât take long for Lando to fall asleep and you were on the verge of it when your phone went off on the nightstand. Usually, you would just ignore it, but something in you told you to see what it was.
harryinsta is now following you
You then see that he had sent you a DM and youâre expecting it to be about meeting up some time, which you were going to politely decline, but itâs quite the opposite.
harryintsa: i must have been mistaken earlier. lando's not an idiot.
yourinsta: huh?
harryinsta: heâs in love with you lol
Your heart nearly beats out of your chest as you read the message over and over again. Lando wasnât in love with you, was he? Sure youâd heard it from just about everyone in your life that you two were in love with each other, but you always thought it was silly. You guys were just best friends is what you would always say, but to hear it come from a literal stranger was different.
You couldnât lie that you hadnât recently had your moments of perhaps thinking that he did, though youâd always talk yourself out of the idea. Although, if he was in love with you that may explain his behavior tonight. Or maybe it was just the alcohol like youâd originally thought. Then the tender moment you two shared entered your mind and suddenly the gears in your head are working overtime.
You locked your phone and sat it back down on the nightstand. Just from a simple DM youâd gone from being dead tired to now being wide awakeâ staring at the ceiling. Youâre not sure how much time had passed as you laid there over analyzing every interaction with Lando. You were struggling enough trying to figure out the things you had recently felt about Lando, let alone the possibility that he was in love with you. All you knew for sure was that things werenât the same between you two, youâd felt a shift when you were with him in Monaco before the Belgium GP. It had only amplified during this trip and you had a feeling that by the end of it things would be different.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
Two days later youâre sunbathing on a comfy lounger on the beach, while Landoâs out in the water doing god knows what. Youâd given up on watching him a while ago, deciding instead to be productive and try to catch up to Landoâs tan level. Which, after laying here for some time now, it seemed impossible. That boy could be in the sun for a day and have a glowing tanâ you not so much.
Moments later you think a cloud has passed in front of the sun, but when you feel cool water droplets on your hot skin you peek open one eye to find a wet and grinning Lando standing over you. âHi.â
âHi.â You greet him back as you sit up, your smile matching his. âDid you have fun out there?â
âI had a lot of fun and the water felt amazing. You should have got in.â
âI will later.â You notice heâs got one of his hands behind his back like heâs hiding something. âLan, what have you got?â He tries to play dumb for a moment, trying to wind you up, but he eventually caves and pulls a plastic pail from behind his back. âPlease donât tell me you stole that from a kid.â Your half joking and half being serious, because where the hell did he get that from?
âI did not steal it from a kidâ I borrowed it.â The smile on his face never falls as he continues to speak. âThey had a bunch of them. I don't think theyâll miss it. Plus I needed something to put your present in.â
You cock an eyebrow at him, curiosity written all over your face. âMy present?â
Heâs smiling so hard as he sits down at the end of the lounger that you think this must be the best present in the world. Seconds later the pail is turned upside down and out falls the prettiest seashells. Your heart swells when you realize all that time he had spent out in the water he was looking for shellsâ for you. Thereâs a light pink one that catches your eye and Lando notices when you reach for it.
âKnew youâd like that one.â
Of course he knew that, sometimes you think he knows you better than you know yourself. âCanât believe you spent all that time finding them.â
He shrugs like itâs an everyday thing. âI knew it would make you happy, which meant I enjoyed doing it. Really only took me so long because I wanted them all to be perfect for you.â
The sun beating down on you feels cold with how hard youâre blushing. âYouâre my favorite person, you know that?â
Lando starts to get shy when you get sappy, like he hadnât just said the sweetest thing a second ago. Heâs smiling, but focuses on carefully putting the shells back into the pail. âYouâre my favorite person too.â
A while later you decide to open up the umbrella between the two loungers. You had chosen to give up on the tanning lifestyle and instead dive into a new book. While Lando was fast asleep on the lounger next to you, apparently all that hunting for shells had worn him out.
Youâd noticed out of the corner of your eye awhile ago that a little boy kept glancing over in your direction, specifically at Lando. You knew he had to have been a fan or he was the kid Lando stole the pail from. The nervous glances back and forth tell you that thankfully heâs a fan and you think itâs the cutest thing. Youâre in the middle of considering waking Lando up so the boy could come over when you hear a groan that is undoubtedly Lando awaking from his slumber.
âWhat are you looking at?â He asks as he rubs his eyes.
You nod your head in the direction of the boy whoâs just seen that Lando is awake and is practically bouncing with glee. âThink you may have a fan.â
A big grin spreads across Landoâs face as he sees the little boy. Lando loved meeting all his fans, but meeting the kids was his favorite. He thinks a big part of the reason he always makes sure to find time for the younger fans was because he was that kid once. Before he was ever F1 driver Lando Norris, he was just a kid who finally got the chance to meet their idol and he knows that picture or an autograph means the world to them
Lando motions for the boy to come over and heâs instantly tugging on his Momâs shirt to get her to come with him. She gives you guys a questioning look and when Lando motions again they both come over.
The little boyâs Italian accent is the cutest thing ever as he greets you two and you can tell just how much it means to him to be talking to Lando.
âWhatâs your name?â Lando asks as he signs a beach towel of all things.
âLuca and Iâm seven!â
âSeven is a great age. You know I started karting when I was seven!â
Lucaâs eyes get as wide as saucers as he glances back at his Mom, who is already shutting down any talk of Luca karting. âI told you possibly next year. Youâre still my little baby. I don't want you getting hurt!â
Lando gives the Mom an apologetic look. âHow about a picture?â Which easily takes Lucaâs attention away from karting, as heâs already at Landoâs side with a big smile on his face before his Mom has her phone out.
They take a couple pictures and high fives are exchanged throughout their interaction. The whole thing is very sweet and you canât help but look on in adoration, fully knowing that Lando would make a great Father one day.
You see that Luca keeps looking over at you and then back to Lando, but you donât pay that much mind to it. You figured he was just nervous or something, but what comes out of his mouth next takes you by surprise.
âYour girlfriend is very pretty.â
You feel your heart skip a beat and you glance over at Lando to see what his reaction is. You prepare yourself for the worst, but in true Lando fashion heâs all smiles. In fact heâs sporting that full face smile of his and it makes you feel funny.
âThank you buddy, I think so too.â He looks over at you with nothing but love in his eyes and youâre immediately looking away like some shy school girl.
Thankfully, the Mom comes to your aid and quickly changes the subject. âOk Luca, youâve bothered them enough. We should get back to our spot. Thank them for their time.â
His cute little voice mutters out grazie as he gives you a small wave goodbye.
âIt was very nice to meet you, Luca.â Lando bids him farewell and you both wave back at the little boy.
As soon as theyâre gone youâre immediately shoving your face back into your book, you donât even want to talk about what had just happened. It was nothing really to be so worked up over, it was just a little kid who saw two people together and assumed they were together. It happens all the time. But it is a big deal when you find yourself liking being referred to as Landoâs girlfriend. It doesnât help when neither of you deny it and correct the person. Lando likes to play into it and you love it too much to say anything.
Ever since getting that DM the other night your mind had been in a whirlwind over how Lando felt about you and how you felt about him. Hell you canât even look at him right now, youâre so in your head that youâve been staring at the same page for the last five minutes. You just wished the book you were reading could tell you how to come to terms with the fact that youâre in love with your best friend.
It was something youâd realized the other night while you were awake overthinking everything. Those feelings had always been there, but you had just pushed them aside, ignoring every little butterfly or rapid heartbeat. When they actually turned into romantic feelings you have no clue because as far as you knew, you and Lando had always been like this.
You two just dove in head first into the co-dependent friendship that was more like a relationship lifestyle. All those times youâd gone to his parents house for family dinners and holidays, both of you attached at the hip. How he wanted to ask you to move to Monaco with him and then almost didnât even move because he said heâd miss you too much. The group vacations that always ended up with you two going off and doing your own thing. The texts from him every Wednesday before a race asking if he needed to get you a paddock pass and a flight. This trip in particularâ sleeping in the same bed when you donât have to, the cuddling, the getting mistaken for a couple three times so far, the fact that it was just you two alone on the trip.
It was all there the whole time and you wondered how you could have been so blind to not realize it sooner. You were in love with him. You loved his pretty eyes and curls and the way his real laugh only seemed to come out around you. You loved his big heart and his caring nature and sometimes you thought he was too nice to be a Formula 1 driver.
You loved everything about him and truth be told it made your stomach hurt from how much you loved him. You wanted to actually be his and be able to kiss those pink lips that you sometimes found yourself staring at. When people said you were his girlfriend you wanted it to actually be true and not have it be Lando just playing along. You were so down bad that you prayed that Harry was right and that Lando was actually in love with you too.
While you were freaking out, so was Lando. When you immediately went back to reading your book and not speaking a word, he figured he had weirded you out by basically implying that you were his girlfriend. He just figured it was easier to go along with what the kid thought than explain that you werenât his girlfriend, but god does he wish you were. He didnât know what to say to try and test the waters because he knew whatever he would say would come out awkward and he didnât want to make things worse. So, once again itâs not talked about and you two pretend that it didnât happen when you finally speak again.
âââ ŕźşâŕźť âââ
Itâs the last day of the trip and youâre dreading going back to reality and away from this little slice of heaven. The only thing you have to look forward to is the supposed fancy dinner that Lando had planned for tonight, which was what you were currently getting ready for. Music plays through your phone and you softly sing along as you do your makeup. When you look up after digging in your makeup bag you spot Lando in the mirror, leaning against the door frame behind you. Your eyes lower and you see that heâs holding two gift bags.
"Those better be for your Mom.â You state as you put the finishing touches on your makeup.
âI think we both know they arenât.â He sees you roll your eyes in the mirror and it only makes him want to spoil you more. âItâs our last day, I think you deserve a parting gift.â
You turn to face him as he makes his way over to you. âI havenât gotten you a single thing this whole time. It makes me feel bad.â
Lando only shakes his head at you. âYou being here with me is the best gift you could have ever gotten me. I truly donât need anything else.â He hands you the bags. âNow open them please.â
A small smile finds its way onto your face as you take the bags from him. You decide to open the bigger bag first and once you pull out the tissue paper you know exactly what it is. Itâs still in its dust bag, but you see the branding and your jaw is dropping before you even see the actual thing. âYou did not get me this bag Lando!â You exclaim as you remove the dust bag and see that itâs the same bag you were eyeing at the store the other day.
He shrugs like itâs no big deal. âSaw you eyeing it and knew I had to get it for you and before you say anything else open the other present.â
You set the handbag down and grab the smaller gift trying to figure out what else he could have possibly gotten you. When you open it and see the bracelet you were also looking at the other day youâre at a loss for words. âLando Norris!â You could slap him, hug him, kiss him, and yell at him all at once. Heâd dropped probably close to six grand on these two gifts and your head is spinning at the thought of it.
âDonât even say anything about the price. I know youâre thinking it, but I wouldnât have bought you them if I couldnât afford it. I wanted you to have them, you deserve nice things.â You deserved a lot more than a handbag and a bracelet, but what he thought you deserved money couldnât buy.
You know there's no use in fighting him on it, but you still feel bad that he just spends all this money on you. He takes the bracelet from the box and fastens it around your wrist, the diamonds glittering in the light as you move it around. Itâs truly stunning and the handbag will go great with your outfit tonight. As soon as you two make eye contact again youâre pulling him into a bone crushing hug and you two stay like that for probably longer than necessary. âThank you a million times Lan. I love them both so much.â
Itâs time to leave for dinner shortly after that and when you arrive at the restaurant the host guides you back to a secluded corner. Itâs a very romantic ambiance and you canât help but feel like youâre on a date, which wouldnât be a horrible thing. Moments later a waiter comes over with a bottle of champagne and two glasses. âItâs on the houseâ for the special couple.â
There it is again and it seems like with each time it happens it makes your heart race even more. Lando shifts in his seat and you focus on the rising bubbles in the glasses as the waiter pours the champagne. Lando tells him thank you and your attention moves to the menu.
âWhat are you thinking about getting?â You ask, ignoring the obvious.
âProbably the steak.â He grabs the flute of champagne and takes a drink. âWhat was that? The fourth time now?â
You know exactly what heâs talking about, but youâre surprised heâs decided to talk about it. âYeah it was.â You set the menu down and grab the other flute. âThink Iâll get the steak too.â
Dinner actually turns out to be an amazing time. The food is decadent and Lando and you have good conversations that donât revolve around you two being mistaken for a couple or being in love with each other. When the waiter brings the bill youâre quite sad because that just means this trip is that much closer to being over.
You take your time heading back to the villa, trying to savor every last moment youâve got here. The sun was low in the sky by the time you get back and you tell Lando just how you want to spend your final evening in Italy. You hurry and change into comfier clothes and take off all your makeup before heading to the spot with the best view out back. Lando makes his way out there not too long after you, but heâs got one more surprise for you.
âDonât think the evening or this trip would be complete without this now would it?â He pulls a bottle of pink moscato from behind his back along with two wine glasses.
He knew you too well, but it was something you loved dearly about him. âYouâre a man after my heart Norris.â
He hands you a glass as he sits down next to you, the sun just beginning to set on the horizon. âI try.â
Thereâs a comfortable silence between you two for a while and the only sound to be heard is from the waves below. It feels like paradise sitting here with this amazing view and the guy you love next to you. Itâs probably boring to the majority of people, but this was everything you could ask for and more and the perfect way to end this amazing trip. You lean in closer to Lando, your head resting on his shoulder as he wraps his arm around you. A content sigh escapes past your lips as his thumb starts to draw mindless circles on your arm.
âThank you again for everything. This trip was amazing and Iâm glad we got to go togetherâ just you and me.â
âIâm glad too. It was probably the best summer break trip Iâve had. Donât think Ibiza will be seeing me for a while.â
Youâre not even looking at him, but you can sense the smile on his face and you canât help but laugh at his lie. âYeah, and I donât like pink moscato.â
âAlright so Ibiza will inevitably see me, but not as much as Italy.â He pauses for a moment, glancing down at you still resting on his shoulder, his heart swelling just by looking at you. âI think this may be our place now, just for the two of us.â His voice is soft when he says it, like heâs not sure if he wanted to say it outloud.
You lift your head up and are met with his piercing blue eyes staring back at you. He looked radiant as golden hour cascades over him and itâs like youâre in a trance as you look at him. You take in every last bit of him, all the little details about him that youâve memorized over the years. The slight stubble on his face from not shaving for a couple days, the little moles, his long and somehow always curled eyelashes, those pink lips of his. Heâs everything you could have ever dreamed of and more. Youâve had him at fingertip length for so long now and all you want to do is reach out for him, take what you want and never let go.
Lando feels his breath catch in his throat as you two make eye contact. Youâd never looked more beautiful than in this moment and he doesnât know how much longer he can take without you actually being his. You were the love of his life, his best friend, and everything heâs ever wanted. It may have taken him a long time to realize it, but heâs never felt like this about anyone before. You know each other like the back of your hands and it only makes sense that youâd be the one for him.
And itâs in this moment that it clicks for you two that itâs now or never. Youâre never going to have a perfect moment like this again. It feels right, like the universe wants this moment to happen and if you let it go to waste you may never get the chance again. Lando takes his free hand and gently cups your face, his thumb ever so softly rubbing across your cheek. Youâre practically putty in his hands and you feel like your heart is gonna beat out of your chest. You want to scream out to him that you love him, that you want to be his, but you can barely get your brain to communicate with your mouth.
âLan-â
Thatâs all you can get out before Landoâs leaning in and his lips are on yours. He tastes like the sugary sweet wine and his lips are soft as they move in sync with yours. Kissing him is even better than youâd imagined and as your hand reaches up to his neck you deepen the kiss. It feels like you two had kissed a thousand times before and as he pulls away youâre already left wanting more.
Your foreheads rest against each other, both of you breathless and a little light headed from that singular kiss. When you both actually internalize whatâs just happened youâre both grinning, that then turns into laughing and itâs like music to both of your ears to hear each other laugh.
âI think that was a long time coming.â You state as you finally lean back onto the couch.
Lando reaches out for your hand, intertwining his with yours. âWhen did you realize?â
âThat night when we got into that argument, which looking back now, you were totally jealous.â
âI was not jealous!â He tries to be serious, but the knowing look on your face has him cracking. âOk I was jealous.â
âWhen did you realize?â You question.
âThat same night. I couldnât understand why you flirting with that guy bothered me so much. Well I guess now we know.â
âYeah cause youâre in loooveee with me.â Youâre laughing as you speak, but he shuts you up with another kiss and leaves you pouting when he pulls away.
âOnly kissed you twice and youâre already pouting when I pull away? I think youâre in loooveee with me.â
You lean back in, capturing his lips in yet another kiss and youâre like teenagers whoâve gotten into their first relationship.
Lando sighs when you stop kissing him, he canât believe he could have had this sooner if he would have just opened his eyes. âYou think you could get another week off from work?â
Youâd do anything to get another week in a paradise with him, but you know itâs not possible. âHmm, why donât you just spend a week in London with me?â
âWell you havenât even told them that you now have a famous F1 driver boyfriend. Who if they didnât know already is very needy and needs to see his girlfriend.â He teases.
âWell you forgot to add that youâre my hot and famous F1 driver boyfriend.â You counter back.
Youâre both grinning like fools at each other and as you curl up into his side and take in the last sunset youâll see in the place that now holds such a special place in both of your hearts, youâre glad you let him convince you to come on this trip.
As the sun finally sets over the water you actually say those three little words.
âI love you.â
âI love you too.â
. . .
Y/N was slowly but surely finding her rhythm at Pleasing. Thanks to Harryâs advice on making the most of each day (advice he apparently wrote a book aboutâthough when Lindsey mentioned it, Harry had quickly shushed her and changed the subject), she had developed a solid morning and evening routine.
Her workdays at Pleasing fell on the busiest days of Harryâs schedule, which meant she was there three times a week. Those mornings began promptly at 7 a.m., with her clothes already laid out from the night before. After waking, sheâd prepare breakfast for herself and her brothers, speaking to Harry on the phone as they went about their respective routines in separate homes. Once breakfast was done, sheâd brush her teeth, do her makeup, and style her hair. By the time the school bus arrived to whisk her brothers away, her car would be rounding the corner to take her into the city.
Despite her hectic schedule, Y/N was managing to juggle her studiesâthough she couldnât ignore that they were beginning to take a backseat. Lately, sheâd found herself questioning whether she even wanted to continue her course. But with life moving at such a whirlwind pace, the thought of making a definitive decision felt overwhelming. For now, it was easier to just focus on the day-to-day.
To her surprise, Y/N was actually enjoying her jobâsomething sheâd never expected. Sheâd never been a fan of âadultingâ; being forced to grow up quickly didnât mean she had to like it. Paying bills, going to work, and worrying about the future had always felt like too much. But having a steady job offered her a rare sense of stabilityâone she appreciated more than she wanted to admit. It kept food on the table, gave her some consistency, and most importantly, brought her closer to Harry.
Keeping their relationship a secret, however, was proving to be a challenge. Surprisingly, Y/N was the more professional of the two, maintaining her composure in the workplace. She kept her hands to herself and avoided lingering glances, even when they were in the same room. Harry, on the other hand, wasnât quite as disciplined. He had a knack for initiating little interactions that straddled the line of proprietyâalways claiming they were âaccidents.â
Like the time he held her hand just a second too long. Or the time he âaccidentallyâ kissed her in the elevator right as the doors were opening. Then there was the incident during a meeting when, as she served tea, he tugged on the hem of her dressâapparently needing a refill.
Y/N couldnât help but adore how infatuated he was, but she was determined to keep things professional. The last thing she wanted was for her coworkers to think she had an unfair advantage because of her relationship. Still, Harryâs innocent looks and playfulness made it hard to stay mad at him for long.
âI need to ask you something,â Harry said from his desk.Â
It was Wednesday evening and everyone had gone home. Harry had needed to catch up on some work so Y/N stayed behind after some convincing with the proposition he would drop her home afterwards. Y/N was sitting on the chair opposite, her notebook open and laptop screen. Her laptop was on its last legs, taking forever to load and lagging every five seconds but she could never afford a new one and having one was better than nothing.Â
âWhatâs wrong?â She looked up, wearing her glasses and face framed by wispy bits of loose hair that had escaped her messy bun.Â
Harryâs face brightened when she looked up at him. âCâmere, Bambi. Too far away.â He pushed himself away from his desk and gestured to his lap.Â
Y/N smiled and walked around the desk to sit in his lap. She straddled herself across his lap and wrapped both her arms around his neck, âYâ smell good,â He murmurs, smelling her gingerbread cookie perfume even though it was Autumn, she was already excited for her favourite day of the year.Â
âWhat did you want to ask?â She pouted.Â
As if remembering he bought her over for a purpose, he continued, âThis weekend, yâknow youâre coming to stay the night?â
How could she forget? It was all she had been thinking about since he asked her. She had even bought brand new pyjamas with the remaining paycheck from her old job because her usual ones were worn and not as pretty. She had never been to a sleepover before let alone one with a man. She wasât sure what to expect but had seen movies where girls would sleepover and theyâd paint each others nails and eat ice cream. She knew that wouldnât be the case with Harry but she had made a list of other things they could do together that heâd enjoy too.Â
âI know,â Y/N nodded, brows furrowed as she waited for him to continue. Part of her couldnât help but worry. Did he not want her to sleep over anymore?
"Some of my friends are having a dinner get together type thing," Harry said, his tone casual but hopeful. "I havenât said Iâll go yet because I knew you were coming over, but I wanted to ask if youâd like to come with me?"
Y/Nâs eyes widened in surprise. "To the dinner party? With you?"
Harry smiled, a teasing glint in his eyes. "Yeah, with me. Who else?"
She blinked, processing his words. "Iâd be meeting your friends?" she asked cautiously. "Are you sure about that?"
"Why wouldnât I be sure?" he replied, his brow lifting slightly.
"I donât know, I just..." she trailed off, suddenly unsure of how to explain the nervous flutter in her chest.
"Ah, there yâgo, Bambi," Harry smirked, leaning in just enough to make her cheeks burn. "Getting all flustered."
"Iâm not flustered!" she protested, though the warmth in her face betrayed her.
Harry chuckled, his gaze warm and steady as it met hers. "It makes me happy, you knowâthinking about introducing you to my friends. They were excited when I mentioned you."
"They were?" Y/N asked, her brows lifting in surprise.
"Mhm," he murmured, a small smile tugging at his lips. "They know itâs rare for me to bring someone Iâm dating into the mix this early on." He leaned in, nuzzling against her neck and pressing a soft kiss to her skin. "So, will you come? We can head back to mine after."
She hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Okay... but I donât know if I have anything to wear."
Harry smirked, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Yâknow I can sort that," he teased.
Y/Nâs cheeks flushed instantly, and she bit back a shy smile as his confidence and charm worked their usual magic.Â
. . .
Y/N glanced down at her suitcase, biting her lip. Did I overpack for one night? Probably. She always did.
Growing up, money had been tight, but once Y/N started earning her own at sixteen, sheâd developed a habit of indulging herself. Not extravagantlyâthere were no designer handbags or flashy purchasesâbut enough to feel like she was treating herself after the grind of a day. Skincare, makeup, clothesâher modest earnings often vanished in the blink of an eye.
Fashion was her weakness. Her clothing rack groaned under the weight of her ever-expanding wardrobe, frequently collapsing as if protesting her relentless shopping habit. Packing for this overnight stay at Harryâs had been no exception. Sheâd started with a backpack, then upgraded to a duffle bag, only to realize that wouldnât fit everything she might need. Now, her suitcase sat by the stairs, practically mocking her indecision.
âWhoa.â Sammyâs voice broke her thoughts as he sauntered into her room, a chocolate bar in hand. âAre you moving in?â
âNo,â Y/N huffed, hands on her hips. âI just want to be prepared.â
Sammy raised an eyebrow. âYou know, he could just stay here instead.â
Y/N stilled. The boyâs first night without her had everyone feeling uneasy, and she knew Sammy wasnât looking forward to it. His gaze was guarded, but she could see the vulnerability underneath.
âItâll be fine,â she reassured, stepping closer. âItâs just one night. If you really hate it, weâllââ
âYouâll what?â he interrupted, his voice breaking slightly. âThereâs going to be a day when you move out. And leave me. With Mom. Or... without her.â
The words hit harder than he intended. Y/N swallowed the lump forming in her throat, reaching out to him. She saw the sadness etched in his eyes, a reflection of her own fears. âWherever I go, you go,â she whispered firmly.
âPromise?â
âI promise.â
Sammy leaned into her, wrapping his arms around her in a tight hug. Y/N held him close, closing her eyes for a moment before pulling away.
The sound of a knock at the front door jolted her. She glanced at the clock, muttering a quick, âThatâs Harry,â as she rushed downstairs. She wanted to intercept him before Archie could get startedâher little brotherâs chatter had a way of turning quick visits into extended stays.
Yanking the door open, she froze. Harry stood there, a beaming smile lighting up his face despite the chill in the air. He wore a puffer jacket and shorts, his casual confidence making her heart skip.
âHi, Harry,â she greeted, cheeks tinged pink, though she wasnât sure if it was from the cold or his presence. Without thinking, she leapt into his arms, her sock-clad feet barely touching the doorstep.
âHi, Bambi,â he chuckled, steadying her as his arms closed around her. âYâready to go?â
âMhm.â She pulled back, slipping on her shoes. âLet me say goodbye to the boys.â
Harryâs gaze shifted behind her, landing on the suitcase by the stairs. A laugh bubbled from him. âAre you planning on moving in?â
Y/N furrowed her brows, following his line of sight. When realization dawned, she flushed. âOh, that. I, uh... didnât know what Iâd need.â
His grin softened as he stepped closer, pressing a kiss to her forehead. âSâalright, Bambi,â he murmured. âMâjust excited to have you over.â
She smiled, her heart swelling as he leaned in for another kiss. Then, without missing a beat, he grabbed her suitcase and carried it effortlessly to the car.
After she had bid goodbye to her brotherâs and promised them some much needed one on one time with them once she came back from Harryâs house, Y/N took a deep breath and mentally prepared herself for the next twenty four hours.Â
. . .
In the car to Harryâs apartment, Y/N sat in the passenger seat with one hand intertwined with Harryâs whilst he drove with his other. The radio played through the car speakers, avoiding complete silence on the journey. The dulcit tones of Marvin Gaye playing throughout.Â
âYâ hands are freezing,â Harry said. Y/N instinctively tried to pull away as though her hand being cold was a bad thing but Harry clung tighter, raising both their hands and kissing her knuckles before blowing his warm breath over her hand. âDo you need me to up the heater?â
Y/N shook her head, âNo itâs okay, my hands get cold when Iâm nervous.â She confessed.Â
Harry frowned, âNervous? Are you okay?â
Y/N cringed, âM a little worried about meeting your friends. What if they donât like me?âÂ
Harry gave her a comforting smile, âBambi, theyâre so excited to meet you. You have nothing to worry about. Theyâve met other girls Iâve dated and trust me when I say youâre a walking angel in comparison to them.âÂ
âH-Have you dated a lot of other girls?â Y/N felt awkward bringing it up but her curiosity was getting the better of her. Harry had only mentioned briefly of the other women he had dated. Of course he had dated other women, he was a successful, handsome millionaire with a fashion company. It would be pointless trying to deny it.Â
Harry thought for a moment like he was trying to think carefully about his response, âIâll be honest, I used to date a lot of women when I first started making money. I wasnât very good when I started getting attention from the press. I drank a lot and spent money on buying out nightclubs and bars for the night.âÂ
Y/N was shocked. She tried to picture her Harry being the version of himself he spoke about. âBut my company was no where near as successful as it is now so even though I was spending a lot, I was losing a lot too. I nearly went bankrupt at one point which really gave me a kick up the ass. My sister, sheâs an accountant back home in England, she came to visit and helped me get my act together.âÂ
âOh wow,â Y/N didnât really know what else to say. She couldnât seem to envision her sweet, soft and wholesome Harry being a party animal and spening nights in bars for days on end.Â
âDid that put you off?â Y/N immediately shook her head.Â
âOf course not, weâve all got things weâre not proud of.â Y/N replied.Â
Harry smiled, âWhat about you? Any psycho ex-boyfriends I need to worry about?â
Y/N laughed, âNo lucky for you, I donât think a single guy has ever taken interest in me.âÂ
âI highly doubt that Bambi but youâre right, I am very lucky.â Harry flashed a cheeky grin, turning the wheel around the corner and stopped outside the tallest building she had ever seen that looked as though it was completely made of glass.Â
Y/Nâs was unable to say anything when her eyes gazed up at the towering stack of apartments. âYou live in this building?â Y/N couldnât take her eyes off, her neck permanently craned to look up. She was pretty sure the hjgihest point of the building resided in the clouds.Â
Harry said nothing, parking his car in the private parking spot. He went to the back to grab her suitcase, Y/N stepping out of the car and walking around to meet him.Â
âCâmon Bambi,â Harry chuckled at her awe-struck expression.Â
They walked hand in hand through the lobby which looked as glamorous as youâd expect. Harry gave a nod to the security at the door as they went past and headed towards the elevator. Y/Nâs eyes widened when his finger pressed the button for the top floor.Â
The doors to the elevator opened and Y/N thought she might actually pass out.Â
She stepped into Harryâs penthouse, her breath catching as her gaze swept over the space. The floor-to-ceiling windows framed the city skyline, all the people and cars down below looked like ants. The open layout was both elegant and inviting, with warm ambient lighting casting a golden glow over the neutral-toned furniture and rich wooden floors.
âWow,â she whispered, taking a hesitant step further inside. The plush cream sofa, the sleek coffee table stacked with books, and the faint scent of vanilla in the air all felt so Harryâeffortlessly stylish and welcoming.
Harry chuckled behind her, setting her suitcase by the door. âYou like it?â
âLike it?â she breathed, turning to face him with wide eyes. âHarry, this is... incredible.â
He smiled, rubbing the back of his neck. âMâglad you think so. Wanted it to feel comfy, yâknow? Somewhere I could actually relax.â
Y/N nodded, her eyes drifting back to the view. âSometimes I forget how rich you are.â
Harry chuckles from behind her, âIâm actually very glad to hear that.â
She walked over to the windows, pressing her hands gently against the glass as she looked out at the city sprawling beneath them. For a moment, it felt like they were floating above it all, separate from the noise and chaos of the world below.
Harry joined her, slipping an arm around her waist and pulling her close. âSâbetter with you here,â he murmured, his voice soft.
Y/Nâs heart thudded in her chest as she leant into him. Harry kissed her shoulder, turning her round to face him. He smiled when her eyes met his, âWe have some time before we need to get ready, do you want to go unpack?â
âOh of course, am I sleeping on the couch?â Harry furrowed his brows before bursting out laughing, water almost fell from his eyes. Y/N frowned, confused at his reaction.Â
âYou donât want to sleep in my room Bambi? With me?â Y/Nâs cheek scorched red but Harry just continued to laugh, âI mean Iâm happy to sleep on the couch and let you sleep in my room if thatâs what would make you comfortable.â
âNo, itâs okay! I was just messing around,â She was all flustered. The idea of sleeping in Harryâs bed with him hadnât crossed her mind like it maybe should have.Â
âAre you sure? Yâ know I wouldnât do anything to make you uncomfortable.â Y/Nâs shoulders sunk at his sincere concern, she stood on her toes and kissed his lips. This time it was his turn to be surprised since it was rare for her to be the first to initiate a kiss between them.Â
âI know,â She smiled, âI want to sleep in your room⌠with you.âÂ
Harry smiled, âGood. Let me give you a tour first.âÂ
Harry led Y/N back toward the kitchen, still holding her hand as they strolled through the open-concept living area. âFirst stop: the kitchen,â he said, motioning grandly as they stepped into the sleek, modern space.
Y/Nâs eyes widened as she took in the marble countertops, state-of-the-art appliances, and a large island that looked like it had been plucked from a home design magazine. A trio of pendant lights hung above, casting a warm glow over the pristine surfaces.
âWow,â she breathed, running her fingers along the smooth countertop. âThis is amazing. Do you even use it?â
Harry grinned, leaning casually against the island. âI use it for takeout. Does that count?â
She laughed, shaking her head. âI donât know how anyone could resist cooking in here.â
âI can resist pretty easily, love,â he said with a smirk. âBut if you ever fancy cooking together, Iâm happy to assist. Iâm great at stirring things and, uh⌠taste-testing.â
âOf course you are, no wonder you own a restaurant.â Y/N teased, giving him a playful nudge.
Harry chuckled, then nodded toward a door off to the side. âAlright, next stop: my office.â
He guided her through the door and into a smaller, cosier room that contrasted with the open, airy feel of the rest of the penthouse. The office was lined with dark wood shelves filled with books, a few framed photos, and scattered trinkets. A large desk sat in front of another set of floor-to-ceiling windows, the view just as stunning as the one in the living room.
âThis is where I get most of my work done,â he said, walking over to the desk and leaning on it. âOr where I try to, anyway. Sometimes I just sit here and stare out at the city.â
Y/N wandered over to the shelves, her fingers lightly brushing the spines of the books. âItâs so⌠you,â she said softly, glancing at the little detailsâa framed photo of him with his family, a guitar pick sitting on a stack of papers, and a candle that smelled faintly of cedar.
He raised an eyebrow. âYou mean messy?â
âNo,â she said, laughing. âI mean itâs thoughtful. Personal.â
Harryâs smile softened, and he reached out to take her hand again. âAlright, enough of the boring office. Time to show you the best room in the house.â
Y/Nâs heart skipped a beat as he led her back down the hallway to his bedroom. When he pushed open the door, her breath hitched.
The bedroom was even more stunning than sheâd imagined. The centerpiece was a massive bed with crisp white linens that looked impossibly soft, surrounded by sleek, minimal furniture. The far wall was made entirely of glass, offering an unobstructed view of the glittering city below. Heavy curtains were drawn to the sides, framing the view like a painting.
Harry watched her take it all in, a small smile tugging at his lips. âSo? What do you think?â
âItâs⌠incredible,â Y/N whispered, stepping into the room. She walked over to the windows, pressing her hands against the glass as she gazed out at the city. âI donât think Iâd ever sleep. Iâd just stay up staring at this view.â
âWell, lucky for you,â Harry said, coming up behind her and resting his hands gently on her shoulders, âthe bed is comfortable enough to make you forget about the view.â
She turned to look at him, her cheeks warming. âI donât know if thatâs possible.â
Harry grinned, his dimples on full display. âChallenge accepted, Bambi.â
He took her hand and led her to the bed, sitting down beside her. The mattress really did feel like a cloud as she sank into it.
âI was serious earlier,â Harry said, his tone softer now. âYou can sleep wherever you wantâthe bed, the couch, the office chair if youâre feeling adventurous. I just want you to be comfortable.â
Y/N smiled, her heart swelling at his thoughtfulness. âI already told you, Harry. I want to sleep here. With you.â
His eyes lit up at her words, and he leaned in to press a kiss to her forehead. âGood. Because Iâd be lying if I said I didnât want that too.â
Harry stood up, âIâll leave you to unpack. Iâve just go to make a few calls but thereâs an ensuite bathroom you can use to freshen up.â
After Harry brought her suitcase to the bedroom, he left her to unpack. Y/N unzipped it and pulled out her washbag, heading into the ensuite bathroom.
The bathroom was stunningâa walk-in shower with dark tiles and jets built into the walls. She stepped to the sink, admiring the clean lines of the vanity, and placed her washbag carefully on the counter. She couldnât help but smile when she noticed all of Harryâs skincare neatly organized in a cute little spinning containerâit was such a contrast to her own chaotic setup. But then her eyes landed on the glass by the sink, where his toothbrush rested.
Beside it was a pink toothbrush.
Her heart softened at the sight, a warm flutter spreading through her chest. There was something about that simple detail that made her feel all warm and gooey inside. Sheâd never believed she would find someone sheâd want to spend so much time with but here she was staying the night with Harry and about to meet his friends.Â
Y/N walked into the living room, where Harry was already sitting on the couch with his laptop perched on her lap. He smiled when he saw her, and then his gaze fell to the object she was holding. âIs that Monopoly?â he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Y/N nodded, her grin widening. âYeah, itâs the original version. I asked my brothers if I could bring it with me since we've had this set forever, and they would absolutely murder me if I lost any pieces. We have to be able to play it at Christmas."
The corner of Harryâs lips quirked in amusement. âHmm, may I ask why you decided to bring Monopoly with you today?â
Y/N paused, clearly puzzled. âIsnât that what people do at sleepovers? Play games?â
Harryâs grin spread wider. As she stepped closer, he reached out, pulling her toward him. She ended up collapsing onto his chest with a soft laugh.
âOh, Bambi,â he murmured, showering her face with quick kisses. His lips tickled her skin, making her giggle uncontrollably. âYouâre the most precious girl Iâve ever known, you know that?â
She smiled up at him, her cheeks flushed. âDoes that mean you want to play?â
Harry gave a dramatic sigh, still grinning. âOf course! Are you kidding me? I love this game.â
Y/N raised an eyebrow, her voice playful. âWell, be prepared. Iâm not one to brag, but Iâm pretty good at it.â
His eyes lit up with challenge. âOh, Bambiâs competitive, I see.â
A spark flickered in her eyes as she leaned in slightly, âJust a little.â
. . .
Harry loved discovering the many layers of his Bambi. To the outside world, she was shy and quiet, but to him, she was a multi-faceted woman, full of surprises he was peeling back one by one. Yet this afternoon might have revealed his favorite side of her yet.
Y/Nâs eyes sparkled with excitement and mischief as she declared her victory in Monopolyâlong before the game had officially ended. Harry had debated whether to let her win, as any gentleman might, but it turned out he didnât need to. She was fiercely competitive and had wiped the floor with him in just thirty minutes.
If time had allowed, Harry wouldâve played another round or concocted a new game just to watch her face light up with that same playful energy. The afternoon spent with her, laughing over a simple board game, had him envisioning Christmas mornings and holiday traditions for years to come. It was silly, perhaps, to think so far ahead so early in their relationship, but he didnât care. He couldnât picture a future without Bambi in it.
Still, as the game wrapped up, he could see her nerves creep back in. The mention of preparing to meet his friends made her retreat into herself, her earlier exuberance melting into quiet apprehension. Despite his reassurances, Harry knew sheâd wrestle with her anxiety until the dinner was behind them.
His friends, on the other hand, were eager to meet her. Their group chat had been buzzing with excitement about âthe girl who finally tied him down.â Since Harryâs family was back in England, his friends were the closest thing he had to family in LA, making their opinions matter. But he had no doubt theyâd love her.
In the living room, Harry waited for Y/N to finish getting ready, dressed in his tailored dark suit with a relaxed fit. The loose white tank underneath, with its wide scoop neckline, subtly revealed his tattoos, and the Pleasing logo stitched at the hem added a personal touch. Cream-colored loafers and white socks completed the look, his short curls neatly styled to keep them from obscuring his face.
The click of the bedroom door snapped him from his thoughts. He rose from the sofa, as alert as a puppy hearing its owner return. When Y/N stepped out, the oxygen seemed to leave the room entirely.
Her dress was light pink, soft and flowing, with thin spaghetti straps and a V-shaped neckline that showcased her dĂŠcolletage. The slightly sheer fabric hinted at her elegant curves, while the asymmetrical hemline added a whimsical touch. Her hair was slicked back into a high ponytail, and her makeup was pink-toned and dewy, enhancing her natural glow. She paired the dress with strappy silver heels and a small, dainty bag dangling from her shoulder.
Her hand clung to her opposite arm, feeling vulnerable as she stood before him. Harry felt his breath hitch, his lips parting as he tried to absorb how breathtaking she looked.
âBambiâŚâ he managed, his voice low and reverent.
Her cheeks flushed. âIs it too much?â she asked softly.
Harry stepped closer, taking her hands in his and pressing a kiss to her knuckles. âYou look beautiful. I donât even have the words to tell you how incredible you are.â
She ducked her head, shy like the deer he affectionately nicknamed her after. âThank you. You look very handsome, too,â she said with a smile.
âThank you, baby,â he murmured, his gaze fixed on her like she was the only thing in the world.
âDo you like my dress?â she asked, her voice tentative.
Harryâs hands slid to her waist, feeling the soft fabric and the gentle curve of her silhouette. âI love it.â
âI made it,â she admitted, her blush deepening.
His brows lifted in surprise. âYou did?â
She nodded, and Harry was awestruck. Heâd seen her sketches beforeâones she had reluctantly shared after he beggedâbut seeing her creations come to life was something else entirely.
Harry glanced at his watch, sighing reluctantly. âWe should probably get going, but firstâŚâ He pulled out his phone, aiming it at the two of them. Y/N laughed, trying to push the camera away, but eventually relented, leaning in to kiss his cheek just as he snapped the photo. His grin widened, his eyes crinkling with joy.
Taking her hand, he asked, âDo you need a jacket?â His gaze flicked to her bare arms.
âIâll be okay, as long as the bar has heating,â she replied with a small laugh.
Harry chuckled but grabbed a jacket on their way out anyway. He knew her well enough to anticipate the moment sheâd get cold but wouldnât say a word about it.
The drive to the bar felt like it took forever, thanks to the heavy city traffic. Harryâs hand remained warm on her thigh, and she wrapped her arm around his, seeking comfort from his touch. She chewed on her bottom lip, a nervous habit she couldnât seem to stop.
âA little,â she confessed, glancing over at him. âI just want them to like me. Iâve never had to introduce myself to anyoneâs friends before... I donât want to mess up.â
âYouâll be fine, Bambi,â Harry reassured her, his voice calm as always. Heâd said it so many times already, and she knew heâd say it dozens more if she needed to hear it. âJust be yourself. Thatâs all you need to be.â
Y/N wouldnât say it out loud, but the age difference between her and Harryâs friends had been weighing on her mind all evening. The nine-year gap between her and Harry had never been an issue for themâit felt inconsequential when they were together. But his friends might see it differently.
What if they thought she was too young, too inexperienced, too⌠immature for someone like him? Worse, what if they assumed she was with him for his success, for the money he worked so hard to earn? The mere thought made her stomach twist. She didnât want to be judged on circumstances she couldnât change or assumptions she couldnât dispel.
Harryâs friends meant a lot to him, and their approvalâor lack of itâwould sting far more than she cared to admit.
She nodded anyway, letting out a slow breath and turning her gaze to the window. The city lights blurred outside, their glow reflecting in her eyes. Even though his words helped calm her, she still couldnât shake the nerves.
When they pulled up to the bar, the fancy building loomed in front of them. A valet was already waiting, and Y/N couldnât help but notice how Harry always seemed to have the luxury treatment everywhere they went. It was a reminder of how different her world was from his, but she tried not to dwell on it.
As Harry stepped out of the car, Y/N noticed the photographers waiting outside. It wasnât a surprise, but it still made her stomach tighten. Harry wasnât a mega-celebrity, but he was well-known enough in the business world that the occasional paparazzi was inevitable.
Harry opened the door for her, his hand gently resting on her hip as he helped her out. His arm wrapped around her, pulling her close. He kissed the top of her head, and it felt like both a reassurance for her and a subtle message to the photographers.
The bar was dimly lit and sophisticated with shiny tables and chairs with red upholstery. Live jazz music played as people chatted over glasses of wine that probably cost more than Y/Nâs monthly wages had to offer. âDo you own this bar?â Y/N asked, clinging a little bit tighter to Harryâs hand.Â
Harry chuckled, his eyes dancing with amusement. âNot this one,â he said, guiding Y/N toward a booth at the back of the bar. As they approached, the laughter of a group already seated at the table reached her ears. The sound was warm, familiar, like a group of people who had known each other for years.
A man with long brunette hair had his arm around a woman with similar dark hair that cascaded in waves down her shoulders. The two of them were laughing, their faces lit up in shared joy, and Y/N couldnât help but feel a little nervous as they neared the group.
Before she could even take a deep breath, one of the men spotted them walking over. He had a rugged beard, and he stood up with a grin, his drink in hand.
âHarry!â he called out, extending his hand.
Harry gave him a knowing grin and shook his hand firmly, his other arm still wrapped around Y/N. âMate,â he greeted warmly, pulling him into a quick hug.
Y/N watched the exchange, trying to hide the anxious flutter in her stomach. She wasnât sure what to expect, but she knew this was an important moment for her. She hadnât met many of Harryâs close friends yet, and she couldnât shake the feeling that this would be a defining momentâhow they reacted to her, how sheâd fit in with this group that meant so much to him.
The man with the beard turned to Y/N, his eyes flickering with curiosity, and then he offered her a smile. âYou must be Y/N,â he said, his tone warm and welcoming. âItâs great to finally meet you.â
Y/N smiled, a little relieved at the friendly tone in his voice. âYeah, itâs nice to meet you too,â she replied, her nerves still there but starting to ease. âIâve heard so much about you guys.â
Harry stood beside her, his hand still resting at the small of her back, offering her silent support as she navigated this new territory.Â
The man with the beard grinned as he stepped back, giving Y/N a moment to breathe. "This is Mitch," Harry said, gesturing to the man with long brunette hair who was seated next to a woman with equally dark hair. Mitch gave her a warm, easy smile, his arm casually wrapped around Sarahâs shoulders.
"Itâs great to meet you, Y/N," Mitch said, his voice easy and friendly. "Harryâs told us all about you."
Y/Nâs nerves eased a little more as Mitchâs friendly demeanor helped her feel at home. "I hope itâs all good things," she said, a nervous laugh escaping her lips.
"Oh, definitely," Mitch replied, nudging Harry with his elbow and giving him a teasing grin.Â
Sarah, Mitchâs girlfriend, stood up from the booth with a bright smile, her waves of dark hair catching the light. She reached out to shake Y/Nâs hand, her voice warm and welcoming. âHi! Iâm Sarah. Itâs so nice to finally meet you.â
Y/Nâs heart fluttered, but Sarahâs friendly tone immediately put her at ease. âNice to meet you too,â she replied with a smile, trying to match Sarahâs warmth. "Harry's mentioned you guys a lot."
âGood things, I hope,â Sarah teased, winking as she sat back down beside Mitch.
Before Y/N could respond, a deep voice from the other side of the booth spoke up. âYou must be Y/N,â a man with a thick beard said, âIâm Jamie.â
âItâs good to meet you,â Y/N smiled.
Jamie gave her a smile that seemed to take up half his face, his eyes twinkling with humor. "Harryâs been keeping us in the loop." He offered her a firm handshake, his grip warm. âItâs about time we met the girl who finally has him whipped.â
Finally, a woman sitting across from Jamie stood up, her presence immediately commanding attention. Alessia was strikingâher short hair framed her face with confidence, and her posture was strong. She offered Y/N a small, warm smile. "Iâm Alessia," she said, extending a hand. "Itâs so good to meet you. Iâve heard a lot about you from Harry."
"Nice to meet you too," Y/N said, shaking her hand with a smile. There was something calming about Alessiaâs assuredness that made Y/N feel at ease, even though she was a little more reserved than the others.
As Alessia returned to her seat, Harryâs hand still rested on Y/Nâs back, a silent comfort in the midst of the introductions, as they sat in the booth next to Sarah and Mitch. His friends were exactly as heâd describedâkind, welcoming, and playful. They were a perfect match for Harry and that bought a sense of relief to her.Â
âCan I get you a drink?â Harry murmured to Y/N, his hand gently brushing against hers as he leaned in.
Y/N hesitated, biting her lip. She had never really drunk alcohol beforeânot because she didnât want to, but simply because she never really went out drinking. Whenever she was out with her brothers, she always stuck to something safe like Coke or Sprite. She felt a little embarrassed to admit that she wasnât sure what to order.
âUmâŚâ She fumbled for words, feeling self-conscious. "I...I don't really know what to drink."
Harryâs smile softened, as if he understood right away. âWould you like me to pick something for you?â
Y/N felt a wave of relief wash over her. He wasnât making her feel stupid. "Yes, please," she said gratefully, a slight smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
With a nod, Harry turned and motioned for the guys to follow him toward the bar. As they walked off, Y/N felt her nerves kick in again. She was left standing with Sarah and Alessia, the two women who already seemed so at ease with each other and the group.
Y/N suddenly felt a little out of her element. She wasnât used to hanging out with other women in this kind of setting. With her brothers, everything was easy and casual, but this... this felt different. She was afraid that her awkwardness would be obvious, so she searched for something to say, anything to break the silence.
It didnât take long for Sarah to sense her discomfort. She leaned forward with a welcoming smile. âWhereâs your dress from? Itâs gorgeous,â she asked, her voice light and friendly.
Y/N's face softened at the compliment, and she felt more at ease. âOh, um, I actually made it,â she said, a little shy but proud. "I love fashion, so Iâve been sketching designs for a while."
Sarahâs eyes widened, impressed. âWait, you made it? Thatâs amazing!â She looked at Y/N with genuine admiration. âIt looks beautiful on you. I honestly thought it was something you bought from a high-end store.â
Y/N laughed softly, feeling a bit shy but happy with the compliment. âThanks, that means a lot. Iâve kept a lot of my sketches in an old notebook, but Iâve always wanted to show them to someone.â
âI would love to see them sometime,â Sarah said enthusiastically. âIâm obsessed with fashion too. Maybe we can swap ideas sometime.â
Alessia, who had been listening with a smile, chimed in. âYouâre really talented. Iâm sure Harryâs lucky to have someone so creative around especially with his company.âÂ
âDo you guys work in fashion too?â Y/N asked, genuinely curious about the two women sheâd just met.
âJust Harry, Iâm afraid,â Sarah replied with a playful smile. âWe all went to art school, though. Mitch and I own an art gallery together, and Jamie runs a theatre company.â
âAnd I design album art for artists,â Alessia added, her voice warm and casual.
Y/Nâs eyes widened in genuine awe. âWow. Thatâs so impressive. Is that how you all met? Through art school?â
âYep, we were kind of the outcasts of our year group,â Sarah said with a chuckle, âso we stuck together. And look where we are now.â
Y/N smiled, feeling the closeness between the group. âThatâs so cool. And... were you and Mitch together back then?â
âOh no,â Alessia laughed, shaking her head. âSarah and Mitch didnât get together until after art school. It was excruciating to witnessâthose two pining over each other for four years and never doing anything about it.â
Y/N couldnât help but laugh at Alessiaâs blunt description. âThat sounds like a movie.â
âIt kind of was,â Sarah said, laughing with her. âBut it worked out in the end.â
âI bet Harry told you about us,â Alessia continued, leaning in a bit. âHe told us he was bringing you tonight, and we were all nervous, actually.â
Y/N raised her eyebrows, surprised. âReally? I was nervous too.â
âAre you kidding? After Harryâs last âgirlfriend,ââ Sarah said with a playful eye-roll, âwe thought weâd be meeting some bitchy gold-digger whoâd be all over him, trying to separate him from us. But then we met you, and it was like, thank Godâyouâre nothing like that. Honestly, weâre so relieved.â
âHarry talks about you non-stop,â Alessia added with a teasing grin. âFor the last month and a half, itâs been âY/N this, Y/N that,â in our group chat. Itâs kind of sweet, honestly.â
âReally?â Y/N blinked, her face softening with surprise.
Sarah smiled warmly. âYeah, donât worry, itâs nice to hear. He deserves someone who treats him right, you know? Especially after everything heâs done for all of us.â
Alessia nodded, her expression turning a little more serious. âHe got me out of some serious debt. I was on the brink of losing everything, close to being homeless... but Harry stepped in. He rented me a place, helped me get back on my feet, and even called in a favor that landed me my first real job. Heâs the most caring person I know.â
Y/Nâs heart warmed at Alessiaâs words. This wasnât the first time sheâd heard someone speak so highly of Harry, but it never failed to move her. Hearing it from his friends, people who had seen him at his best and worst, made her realise just how deeply Harry cared about the people in his lifeâand just how lucky she was to be part of it.Â
Soon Harry returned with the boys, sliding into the seat next to her. He placed a drink in front of her, âI got you an Aperol Spritz but if you donât like it I can get you something else.â He told her.Â
âThank you,â She beamed up at him and took a sip of her drink. It was light and bubbly with a slight bitter yet citrusy taste. The more she drank, the more she enjoyed the taste of it. Â
Harry continued conversing with his friends, and Y/N found herself enjoying the easy banter between them. It was nice to see this side of himârelaxed, almost boyish, and playful. The way his friends teased each other with such familiarity made her smile, and it felt like she was catching a glimpse of Harryâs world before sheâd come into it.
She liked his friends. All of them were warm and welcoming, each with their own distinct personalities, but there was a genuine closeness that she could see. They kept her in the loop, filling in the gaps on things she might not have fully understoodâlike an inside joke or a shared memoryâuntil she felt like she was beginning to grasp the dynamics between them.
Sarah and Alessia were especially attentive, constantly asking her questions and trying to learn everything about her. Y/N appreciated their curiosity and kindness. They didnât make her feel like an outsider, instead showing genuine interest in her life and her background.Â
Every so often, Y/N would catch Harry looking down at her. Heâd check in on her, his gaze soft, making sure she was okay and not feeling overwhelmed. His protective instincts were clear, and she was grateful for it. He didnât hover, but whenever he could, heâd quietly reassure her with a small smile or a squeeze of her hand under the table.
Despite the lively atmosphere, Y/N felt like she wasnât just another guest at the tableâshe was part of the conversation, part of the group. And it was easy to relax into that sense of belonging as the night wore on. Even though she was still a little out of her comfort zone, she couldnât help but feel more at ease with every passing minute, especially with Harry so nearby.
She laughed at something Sarah had said, a light, genuine sound that felt more natural than she expected. The whole night had been surprisingly fun, and for once, she was enjoying being part of something so lively, instead of shrinking back. Â
âSo Y/N, whatâs Harry like as a boyfriend?â Jamie asked, causing Y/N to freeze in her seat.
Harryâs hand stilled from where it had been drawing invisible circles on her knee. The table seemed to pause, sensing the awkwardness in the air.
âThat bad?â Jamie chuckled, trying to lighten the moment.
Y/Nâs mind scrambled for the right words. She wasnât sure how to describe their relationshipâthings were still new, and they had never really put a label on it beyond "dating." Her mouth felt dry as she fumbled for a response.
âU-um, weâre notâ I donât thinkââ Y/N stumbled, her face flushing. She didnât know how to put it into words, not wanting to make things awkward or overthink it.
Before she could continue, Sarah quickly chimed in with a grin, âA better boyfriend than you.â
The entire table burst out laughing, and the tension in the air seemed to lift immediately. Jamie threw his hands up in mock defeat, shaking his head with a smirk.
âAlright, alright. Iâll take the loss. But Iâm definitely curious now,â he said, leaning forward. âWhat makes Harry such a great boyfriend, then?â
Y/N glanced at Harry, meeting his eyes, which were filled with amusement but also a warmth that made her heart skip. "Yeah, Bambi, what am I like as a boyfriend?"
Her lips parted at the question. It was the first time he had referred to their relationship so openly, and the realisation hit her in a way that made her smile nervously.
âWell,â Y/N began, her voice softening as she relaxed, âheâs incredibly thoughtful. Heâs always checking in on me, making sure Iâm alright, andâhe actually listens. Heâs not the kind of guy who brushes off what I say or rushes through things. Heâs really present.â
Harryâs hand slid over to hers under the table, his fingers intertwining with hers in a quiet show of support. He squeezed her hand gently, his gaze tender, saying everything without needing words.
âAnd heâs fun,â Y/N added with a light laugh, her nervousness easing. âHe doesnât take himself too seriously, which is honestly one of my favorite things about him.â
Harryâs smile deepened at her words, and there was something in the way he looked at herâlike he was asking her a question without saying it aloud. âI love it⌠Being his girlfriend.â Y/N blushed but Harryâs face widened into a grin, one of his dimples appearing on his cheek.Â
The group exchanged knowing glances, clearly enjoying the moment. Alessia raised her glass, her eyes twinkling.
âTo Y/N, we wish you all the luck in the world for having to put up with us.â she said, toasting her with a wink.
Everyone joined in, lifting their glasses, and Y/N felt her heart swell at the way Harryâs friends rallied around them.Â
. . .
Y/N hadnât noticed how much Harry had had to drink until his head rested on her shoulder, in the middle of her conversing some more with Sarah and Alessia, âThink I want to go home Bambi,â He murmured. Y/N pushed his droopy curls back and saw the hazy look in his eye, a lazy smile on his lip, âSo pretty,â His lips puckered as he spoke.Â
Y/N giggled, âHow are we meant to get home silly, you drove us here.â
âOh yeah,â Harry huffed, âI did didnât I?â
Sarah chuckled, âWe can drop you guys home on the way back to our place. Weâll just tell the valet to keep hold of his car. He can pick it up tomorrow as punishment.âÂ
Y/N laughed softly, nodding her thanks to Sarah. "That sounds like a good plan," she said, looking down at Harry, whose cheek was now squished adorably against her shoulder. He was humming a tune she couldnât quite place, the sound low and soothing despite his obvious tipsiness.
Harryâs hand found hers under the table, his fingers clumsily lacing through hers. âYâ make me the happiest Bambi. âM so happy yâ mâ girlfriend.â he mumbled, his words slightly slurred but unmistakably earnest.
Y/Nâs cheeks flushed, her heart skipping a beat. âThatâs a lot of happy,â
âIt is isnât it?â Harry laughs.Â
Sarah stood up, grabbing her bag. âAlright, letâs get you two lovebirds home.â
Y/N helped him to his feet. He wobbled slightly, leaning heavily against her. âYouâre my favorite person ever, you know that?â he said as they made their way to the exit, his voice loud enough to draw a few amused glances from nearby tables.
âI think Iâm starting to get the idea,â Y/N replied, her tone affectionate as she wrapped an arm around his waist to steady him.
âIâm hungry,â he announced loudly. âCan we get chips? Or pizza?â
âLetâs get you home first, superstar,â Mitch said, clapping him on the back and making Harry stumble slightly into Y/N.
âYouâre my hero,â Harry murmured dramatically as they shuffled toward the car, his arm draped over her shoulder. âYou saved me, Bambi. Youâre the best.â
âYouâre going to think otherwise when you see how many embarrassing photos Sarah and Alessia probably took tonight,â Y/N quipped, her laughter blending with the othersâ as they piled into the car.
âEmbarrassing?â Harry blinked at her, his expression mock-serious. âNever. I look good in all lighting.â
Y/N shook her head, letting out a laugh as Harryâs head found her shoulder once more. âWeâll see about that in the morning,â she said, her voice fond.
Harry let out a contented sigh. âYou smell so nice,â he murmured sleepily.
Y/N giggled, smoothing her hand over his curls. âYouâre ridiculous.â
As the car pulled away from the bar, Harry mumbled something about her being âtoo good for himâ before trailing off into a soft snore. Y/N looked down at him, her heart swelling. Even in his drunken, clumsy state, he had a way of making her feel like the most important person in the world.
Once Sarah and Mitch dropped them off right at Harryâs front door, Y/N was left with the daunting task of lugging Harry to his room. He wasnât exactly helping, his body swaying dramatically as she tried to steady him.
âHarry, youâre not making this easy,â she huffed, half-laughing as he stumbled. By some miracle, she managed to guide him to the bed, where he flopped downâhalf on the mattress, half on the floor.
âMission accomplished,â she muttered under her breath, crouching down to untie his laces. But just as she reached for his shoe, he playfully kicked his foot away, his lips curling into a cheeky grin.
âCâmere, Bambi,â he murmured, his voice low and a little slurred.
Y/N stood, brushing off her knees, only to find herself being tugged down onto the bed when he grabbed her wrist. She landed on top of him with a surprised gasp, her hands braced against his chest.
âHarry!â she exclaimed softly, but he didnât say anything, just looked up at her with those green eyes, hazy but full of something she couldnât quite describe.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The world around them seemed to blur as they gazed at each other, an unspoken connection passing between them. Harry reached up, his fingers gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. The faint smell of alcohol lingered on his breath, but his touch was steady, his expression achingly tender.
âMean it,â he whispered, his voice barely audible. âYou make me the happiest.â
Y/Nâs heart twisted at the sincerity in his words, her breath catching in her throat. Her lips curved into a soft smile as she cupped his cheek, her thumb brushing against his skin. âYou make me the happiest too, Harry.â
Masterlist ... extra ;)
"Babyyy."
You hear your girlfriend say, coming into the bedroom you both shared. She had her phone in hand, obviously about to show you something.
"Everything alright?" You ask setting your book down. It was currently 7 pm, she had been in the small studio downstairs. Working away on something. "More than alright. I want to show you what I have so far on this remix I'm doing." You smile at her as she sits beside you on the bed, excited to hear this. You always loved listening to the songs she'd make or was in. And you were so incredibly proud that this was going to be with another big star.
'Donât have to guess the color of your underwear
Already know what youâve got goinâ on down there'
She chants and you smile just enjoying listening to the lyrics.
'Itâs that lacy black pair with the little bows'
That reminds you of a pair you own.
Wait...
'The ones I picked out for you in Tokyo'
Now she has your full attention. Sure you were listening to the lyrics beforehand, but now you're really listening. Her eyes were still on her phone, reading off the lyrics. Until her eyes met yours.
'I saw them when you sat down, they were peekinâ out'
Did she really write this about you? You had a pair of underwear exactly like the one she's talking about, you wore them alot actually. They were your favorite. Especially when she mentioned Tokyo. That was incredibly specific as that's where the pair was from. She had bought them for you as a gift when you traveled there for your birthday last year. Both yours and Billies eyes lock onto one another's. But she didn't stop there, keeping that eye contact alive.
'I'm gonna tell you right now, they're all I'm thinkin' about'
"True." She then whispers. Your brows furrow, feeling nervous at the insanity of this moment. Her eyes bore into your own, making you shift a little bit. Your eyes avert her lustful ones.
'I wanna try it, bite it, lick it, spit it. Pull it to the side and get all up in it'
You hadn't even realized she sat her phone down on her bedside table, and was inching closer to your body. "You wanna guess who that song is about." She speaks softly into your ear. You gulp, her voice delicate. Holding such filth at the same time. You don't answer for a second, trying to gain your composure. "Me....?" You question. She only smirks and let's out a small hum. Her body moves to hover over your own, instantly leaning down to kiss you. "I saw a photo of you on my phone from a year ago today. And that's what inspired me." She mumbles against the skin of your neck, as her kisses move all over the place. "Your crossed legs, in that skirt." You swallow thickly. Remembering that photo. You had your arms up in the air, sitting on a random beautiful fountain.
"That's why I mentioned how the straps were peaking out.. those baby pink bows." She bites down on your neck, making a gasp escape your lips. Your eyes shut in instinct as she continues on. "'Kiss it, bite it, can I fit it?'" The only thing you manage to get out was. "Fuck me."
She glady took that offer. Making her way down your body, getting to her destination. She pulls the pair to the side. "Wish it was the black ones." She trails off, slowly revealing your wet, sticky folds to her. Her eyes becoming drowsy, full of desire for you. She bit her lips slightly, grabbing the underwear by the top. And pulling them down, off your body, discarding them somewhere. Her favorite thing, on display for her. She had to admire for a little bit. But that just made you grow impatient. "Billie-" "shhh." She says, as her finger comes close to your puffy heat. She then quickly licks a small stripe up the middle, before she pulls back contemplating.
She spits directly onto your cunt, letting it slide down slightly. The big bit of saliva staying there for a second, before her face is directly infront of it. Her tongue sticks out and straight into your weeping, aching hole. Pushing the spit inside you. She pulls back to look at the mixture of wetness. And she did both. She managed to get you that wet. It was her spit now deep inside you. God she was proud at the thought. However she wasn't even done with penetrating your pussy. Her face is back in its original spot. Her lips make contact with your own, sending your head back into the pillows. Your hands eventually move to her silky hair, gripping as she speeds up her pace, her tongue entering you also.
It all felt amazing, when she does something unexpected. Her teeth sink into the lip of your pussy, biting and sucking all at once. It felt incredible. Why hadn't she done that sooner. "Bil.." You breathe, moaning on and off. "Feels so, good." You blab, still having your eyes shut. Feeling her lips move into her famous smirk, knowing that boosted her ego entirely. Your high was approaching and fast.
"Nooo." You then huff. Feeling her tongue move from you. Looking down at your fucked out body. Her smirk is ofcourse still visible at your little frustrated pout. "You're so annoying." You breathe, sinking into the sheets again.
"You won't be saying that in a second." Your head shot up again to look at her, but as soon as you do that a loud moan is being ripped out of you. How the hell did this woman put her strap on so quickly. She really wasn't kidding when she said 'in a second.' Impressive. A little hot in a way. Your mind turns into mush though, almost her whole length inside of you. "Had to get you worked open babe, yet you're still so tight." Another moan was to be heard, letting your eyes flutter close again, back instantly arching. Only thing visible in your brain are the lyrics to that song, and how she's recreating them all. "Guess I can fit it huh?" She then says, coming close to your face. "Speak." She orders you like a dog, when you don't respond.
"Y-yes.. feel so full." Her smirk returns to her face, picking up the speed. "Good. Just how it should." You let out another gasp again, feeling her thumb playing with your clit. This makes her chuckle, maliciously. She continues to fuck you relentlessly, beginning to let her hands roam over your skin, she pushes the baggy t-shirt you were wearing up, exposing your tits. They move in time with her thrusts. Her mind overflows with every disgusting but amazing fantasy. Your breath hitches as you feel cool metal on your breasts, looking to see her hands kneading them. How well they fit in her hands as she squished.
As her fingers move while doing so, you feel that same cold metal on your nipple making a shakey, content sigh leave you. It eventually turning into a moan as she squeezes again. She comes down to your face, your eyes were closed. "Look at me." She speaks, grabbing your jaw. You immediately open your eyes looking at her dark ones, which was always such a shock as they are so bright. Her face inches down towards your ear, she gives it a soft kiss before she's whispering. "Wanna make you squirt." Your eyes widen tremendously. If you weren't flustered before you really are now.
As you go to respond it was cut short, her thumb resumed on your clit, her thrusts are deeper, her ring covered fingers gripping your jaw. Her lips on your neck only adding to that, as she used the fuck out of you. You feel it coming, that tight knot. But you didn't have to say a word. She knew. She could feel it. It getting slightly harder for her at the way you're tightening, but that was a challenge she wanted to conquer. Obviously succeeding, she hits that gummy spot inside you, sending your mouth to fly open. "B-bil-" Yet another gasp was being pulled from you, it being loud in her ear as she continues to fuck the shit out of you.
Her pace never falters. Her thumb even speeding up as she sucks and bites your neck. You wanted to tell her you were close, as if she didn't already know. Your hands make their way to her arms, gripping as it's coming faster. "Fuck!" You screech out, you couldn't hold it any longer releasing within an instant, feeling her smirk into your neck. "And boom." She says into your ear, her voice husky. You hadn't even noticed it, but she actually did make you squirt. Your fucked out expression gives billie all she needs to know.
"Guess I'm just, that. good."
